This is like a masterclass in dialogue writing

Okay I love every second of this scene but Olivia’s passive aggressive “sorry darling” done twice in a row is absolutely perfect characterization

rewatching this scene after finishing the season...like the fact that he asks her right after she mentions to us that no one's asked her anything in 45 minutes. like he ALWAYS saw her, from the very start

Olivia’s acting is next level, so subtle but you hate her from the bottom of your heart.

This is so aggressively middle-class and English it just turned my living room into a Waitrose organic section.

Fleabag is like a dessert you don't wanna stop eating .

Fleabag's dad randomly touching his chest not even knowing where his heart is is the physical equivalent of how uncomfortable he is with intimacy and expression of one's feelings and I think Phoebe is a genius for this

The way she shouts LEBSI- and the cut, god I love this show

the dialogue in this scene is PHENOMENAL. i have genuinely never seen a better-written scene. ever. this is a MASTERPIECE.

in this scene phoebe' keep breaking the 4th wall, intensely. that later i realized it means she was really not into her surroundings. it's so contrast with the scene she had with successful-lady-of-the-year, that didn't have any the 4th wall breakage.

2:05 The "needy waitress" is Maddie Rice, the star of the original Fleabag play after PWB stepped away to make the show. She's a fantastic actress, and it's cool she got a little cameo here

Phoebe Waller-Bridge: talented director, smart writer, beautiful woman, great actress.

I loved that in this scene Fleabag told “us” that the cafe was going well bc she knew the audience would believe she was lying about the success of the cafe until we actually saw it. This is as people have said a masterclass in dialog.

I love how hot priest makes out of focus eye contact with the camera while fleabag criticizes him to us, amazing foreshadowing. Can’t get over this show and really bummed it’s over:(

Fun fact: Maddie Rice who plays ‘the needy waitress’ played Fleabag during the 2017 run of the show in Edinburgh.

This episode won Emmys for writing, directing, editing, and acting (for Phoebe Waller-Bridge). It's easy to see why

she takes thinks so far, is amazing. The fact that we never know some characters name, the dad that can't finish a sentence EVER. Is so clever, I love it

the line "no one has asked me a question in 45 minutes" then immediately almost answered by the hot priest kinda foreshadows their relationship and how he is the only one who actually wants to get to know her and later on we see him seeing fleabga break the fourth wall which shows how he is really paying attention to her and I think that's beautiful. also how fleabag delays her response almost in shock of how he seemed to read her mind and she is not the kind of character to get often surprised by things.

The editing on this is remarkable.

He's their priest. Their cool, sweary priest.

I love how Claire uses the audience as her own mini 4th wall break at 3:49

The comedic timing and pace of this show are incredible.

The first season was good but the second season is better. In fact, this scene sold me the second season. This and the last scene. Utterly, brilliantly amazing.

3:49 - how did I never see Claire looking right at the camera after godmother starting speaking over her. This show deserves multiple re-watches

One of my favourite moments from this episode was the part where noone actually knew what Claire did for a living.

Godmother is obsessed with Lesbians. Olivia Colman is just perfection.

Fleabag's stepmother saying "Oh darling" after his husband-to-be's speech of random words and silence sends me every time, as if he said the most profound thing ever I'm rolling on the floor

Just when I think that I couldn't enjoy this program anymore, they go and add Andrew Scott! The man needs his own show.

This whole episode is amazing. They somehow made it both extremely chaotic and rhythmic.

Totally deserved all the Emmys it got for this episode

This is the most perfectly written 5 mins of television! So relatable. The way fleabag smokes outside with such relish and relief brings me back to most family dinners. And "no one's asked me a question in 45 mins" kills me every time, its just too accurate

This is honestly one of the best TV episodes I've ever seen and it's literally one dinner scene

I love the dad just rambling on, it cracks me up everytime.

Last night I accidentally binged all of season 2 without having watched season 1 first. And not only was it easy to follow for a first-time viewer, but it was absolutely original, hilarious, and the ending made me cry BUCKETS. Dunno how well season 1 is, but season 2 is practically perfect.

I am so late to the genius that is Fleabag. Watched S2E1 and then immediately went and binge watched S1. Love it! Phoebe Waller-Bridge is a legend.

So so good! Brilliant writing and acting. Attended too many of these "passive aggressive" dinners! Ahhhh family (extended) can't live with them can't live without them.

Never seen the show before but now I’m interested. It’s funny how in just these 5 minutes I was able to get a grasp of every characters personality, and their dynamic with each other. Pretty good writing

I like how claire makes a small interaction with the camera at 3:48. Its like lowkey but shows she IS fleabag's sister

I watched it twice straight away, the whole episode. It happened first time to me.

the writing, acting, THE ACTING and delivery from each actor, the directing, the editing... everyone in this scene, even Maddie the server, was impeccable. We are lucky to have such an incredible show like Fleabag. I recommend it to every person I know.

She's been busy. Les Miserables, this show and the favourite. Olivia Colman has been on a lot of things this year.

This scene is absolutely perfect for so many reasons.

God the reason why I love Fleabag so much is the writing. It is so good I feel like it's a treat for the brain.

i like to think fleabag disassociates alot when dad speaks cause he's always fumbling for words and create really incoherent string of words BUT everyone else seems to understand full on sentences. also there are the times where dad speaks to fleabag directly and he's able to make more articulate sentences.

Successfully replaced my obsession with the writing of game of thrones with that of fleabag. I did not see this happiness coming.

I just finished watching this episode. This is peak dialogue, peak passive-aggressivism, it's peak comedy&drama really. S1 was overall enjoyable, but this episode was an absolute masterpiece. I'm in for one hell of a ride if the rest of the season is this good.

The thing I love the most about the dinner scene is how the moments inside the restaurant have a lot of audiovisual stimulation: the scenes editing is very fast, with a lot of camera angles going back and forth, a lot of characters, a lot going on with the dialogs (which brilliantly show the worst of each character from the family covered in by the social context, a lot is said even without a commentary), background noise, lights and colors, and how it is abruptly changed into fleabag on the outside smoking to calm down: only a few camera angles, switched very rarely, just one character or two for scene, almost no sound, less colors and dark. It is the environment telling us how being with her family in that moment was stressing and exhausting for Fleabag and it makes us automatically connected with her feelings immersed in the storyline, almost as if we needed that moment to take a break as well.

I’m actually obsessed with Pheobe and Olivia, they’re two on the funniest, most talented women in the industry. Please, please give us another season of Fleabag!
