That’s fantastic you have learned how to save in a way that works for you! ❤

It certainly wasn't a convenient way to do it but for us that was the secret. And to be fair we were looking at really cheap property to begin with I'm not sure if this method would work for somewhere fancy.

Hang in there it took Sam and Angela a while to pick up enough views and subs to be where they are now ..... that's how I started watching y'all's videos

Hang in there with RU-vid . I know people who struggled for 5 years and then all the sudden everything took off with just one video .

Ah, somebody somewhere has to give a straight answer. And I'm assuming the dozen or so people who have asked are seriously contemplating starting their own channel, versus just being nosy... At least I hope so LOL

You ain't kidding! Just the other day I told someone ivy was 5 years old and they pointed out that a fourth of my time with her at home is gone already.. I hadn't looked at it that way before! But hopefully she'll stay on the property when the time comes.

Nice to see you doing a video together. I enjoyed hearing your answers. Some questions I have are: 1. Do you have friends that you socialize with? 2. What plans do you have for your children’s education (home school, public school, charter or online school)? 3. It seems that many RU-vid families now have more than one channel to help with their income, have you considered doing that? Glad you are back!
@SteepintheWoods

I think two of those are on the next half of our Q&A.. assuming I made enough sense answering them for Celia to keep them in the video LOL And actually yes we do have a second channel I just haven't posted anything to it yet. It's going to be all about crafting projects which unfortunately we have zero time for at this point in our lives.

Appreciate what you guys are doing and why. Been homesteading in the mountains of British Columbia for 11 years now and there is no escaping the codes up here.
@SteepintheWoods
@SteepintheWoods 10 месяцев назад
Honestly the way that most codes are worded you don't have to follow them if you don't want power or municipal water but I think with kids it's important to look at resale value as well, and building something that's not up to code isn't going to increase your property value nearly as much.

@@SteepintheWoods ya it totally covers your ass if you plan on selling in the future. The building permits are what really gets me. Seems to be the local government just wants to know what we have so they can tax us more.

I have 2 questions for next q n a. How large are your families? Also what helped you in picking out the kids' names? Or if you want one less personal, what are both of your hobbies that you enjoy doing that help ease your mind and calm you both down from the day-to-day life?
@SteepintheWoods

Will do! I think one of those is in the next half of this video but since Celia edits all our stuff I don't know if it'll make it to the publishment or not.. depends on whether I answered it in a way that makes sense or not LOL

it takes like a 1k videos to start making a good living, so keep that in mind! Always loved your channel, it just starts as an idea and grows into everyday life...Just be patient and listen to TOOL...lol...just think, live frugal when your young and when you get older, you will have a badass piece of property...take time, plan, compromise, list BOTH your dreams and work towards both of them! I have visited east TN, and kinda dig it...from AR...been to Asheville, NC, LOVE it...but too expensive...Always try to have 2 sources of income, both of you, its sorta a backup plans....definitely have a greenhouse, compost, save for solar and lithium, water recycling, setup septic (food barrels), and comfort for yourselves! LOVE NC country! Though I have CO country in the boondocks!

I love y'all and I have watched you from the very beginning. The two of you (and now the four of you) have always been one of my favorite channels to watch. As I listened to your q&a session just now and went back and looked at the titles of all your videos, the age of the video and how many views you have for each one. I came up with a list of about 12 of your best all-time most watched videos. Your most popular video was four years ago with 456K views the title is Build Tiny Cabin in the woods. Your number 2 most watched video was Pallet Cabin Tour with 62K views. Your number 3 most viewed video was a tie between how to dig an off-grid spring and grey water system off-grid. Both of those got 57K views. 4th most watched was Build An Outhouse in the Woods, with 30K views. In looking at the list I saw a distinct correlation between the type of video and the quantity of views you had. I have noticed some people even repost the same video and it gets a lot more attention that way. Maybe you will be able to post some similar videos at your new property. Y'all have what it takes to be successful on utube. I hope this gives you some ideas. Good luck. I think we should all watch some of your previous videos to help out.

I must say even as a person who had went back and starting re-binge watching videos from the start as we awaited the return of Steep in the Woods. You have yourself went above and beyond me. My reply may look like a paragraph while yours is a novel lol. In all serious I am pretty sure this above comment will mean a lot to Josh and family to know someone took the time to categorize videos by views. Which myself I thought was pretty cool as well! Kudos and awesome job!

I can't believe I hadn't thought of that before.. we're going to take your advice! As we speak Celia's working on condensing several of our older videos into new productions! (Mostly complete build videos for now) You're also correct with the types of videos, that's one of the main reasons other than cost as to why we're building a house out of pallets. That subject seems to do good for us. And we're also planning on making and selling our spring kits as that seems to do good as well. Celia has also mentioned the possibility of me capping more of our springs here just for the videos. I appreciate it! You might keep an eye out for throwback thursdays!

If you mean on our teespring merch, the crewneck sweatshirts and pullover hoodies have the best as far as clothing. Also, the backpack and mugs.

Moving farther away is always hard. But my brother at least isn't any farther than he already was while we were living in the city. However now that we've moved off to ourselves we don't get included in any visits to other family members.
