AWS EC2 Snapshot: How To Backup and Restore

AWS EC2 Snapshot functionality allows you to easily backup and restore your EC2 Instance.
So how do you backup an EC2 Instance to create a snapshot, or better yet, how do you restore from a snapshot after you've terminated your EC2 Instance?
It's all quite simple following this video tutorial on AWS EC2 Snapshot functionality. This is the 3rd video in my series of creating a WordPress Blog and hosting it using Amazon Web Services (AWS). Be sure to check out the other video's in the series:

How do you do this when an instance has more than one volume? I have several instances that have 2 volumes (/dev/sdf and /dev/xvda), so how would I go about backing up and restoring that? Any advice appreciate it. Thanks.

I can't open that web page with public IP. I've also changed my security groups (inbound and outbound) to all. But not working...plz help!

So the IP address changed when you restored to the new volume? This means you have to make sure DNS is updated right? Is there a way to just restore and keep all previous settings, including IP?

Remember, every time you terminate an EC2 Instance and than create a new EC2 Instance, and new IP Address is assigned from the Amazon Pool. You can avoid that by creating an Elastic IP Address, which you DNS change will point to. I've got a video out there on that as well.

I just dont understand one thing, wont my data lost when i stop the instance? How am I gonna make a backup of that? I wanna change the SSH key because the priv. key is lost.

If I want to add a PHP or HTML5 script in wordpress folder as we do for htdocs>folder name>adding file, how can we do this with AWS. I'm sorry if it's a silly question but I'm new with AWS. Thank You.

I don't think your question has anything to do with Snapshots or taking a backup of EC2. I'm guessing you're asking if you can upload files to your EC2 Web Server, and the answer is yes. You can easily use FTP, but you'll need to ensure you create your credentials when you set up the EC2 instance.

I had the same issue with static ip. So I think it is AWS cache. Re did and still the static ip did not take me to the wordpress. So I am sure it works ... so I continued to redirect my DNS host service to the correct name servers (Route 53) of my domain name... I did not put the ip address just put the name servers... hopland.com is the domain name.. I am trying to see if I can move all my domain names over to one instance..each having their own wordpress running... any videos on this subject..the the ftp, the email server, etc. Basically want to do what my host service provides but really I hardly ever call them and I am familar with their CPANEL to do pretty much everything which is not much... email forwarding, setting quota, etc.
