i know that. just letting other people who didn't like the tone to check out Ola's video. but overall i like the lesson. im on the waiting list and this video helped me out. thanks alot :)
Awesome review m8! Would you consider this the most proffessional preamp out there now? Thinking about selling a kidney and puschasing one but I'm not sure yet. Keep it up m8!
The Axe FX II (not the standard or ultra) is a sound card as well as a preamp. You can just plug it into your computer via usb. If you want to amplify it, you need to plug it into a poweramp & cab or into active monitors. Either way, you need to run it into some sort of power amp. The axe shouldn't be routed into the guitar input of a pre/power amp head or combo.
@berndkiltz No, he is right, there is too much low end on your patch. Needs less lows and slightly more mids. Listening through seinheiser studio headphones.
The fx-2 is probably the best on the market right now. In my opinion, he had a semi-decent tone going before he started fucking with the noise gate. It all went downhill from there. Still a very nice video. I'm sure that tone will work for somebody but not for me.
@berndkiltz I agree that you have made good structure of the sound for future EQ. Many people don't understand what structure should be to have clear sound in the end after EQ. I can post my sound with Axe FX Ultra watch?v=Wk3VM1OtYvg and I have to say, that without EQ it sounds something like subj.
Direct yourself to Head, of the band Korn... in his exact words "We wanted heavy, and so we decided on 7 string, because what is heavier than that?" ...and I do believe that he plays damn heavy...
check out the Megadeth Palladium live show, both Dave Mustane and Chris Broderick use the Frac, I seen the Marshall cab showing behind the onstage screen and it sounded so good, I checked for a Rig Rundown and found out what it really was...very impressive, the live show really shows what it can do.
but what if I want a Fender Tele sound + twin reverb and for the next song two rectos in stereo from a DiMarzio like pickup then back to the marshall crunch but with a leslie mixed in the backround to add that spacial awareness then a screaming ts9 for that epic solo in the right and a short delay in the left. that would cost around 20k and would be impossible to carry with you.
Very informative for a 10 minute vid, great job at showing up close at what you were doing- I hope i can afford one of these someday- by then tho it will probably be "OUTDATED" ;(
Before you buy, i'd advise you to do your research. It may not be the unit for you. The whole concept of the axe is creating virtual signal chains. I had a 3 month affair with the Axe FX. It's capable of producing some truly incredible sounds. In the wrong hands, it will produce terrible sounds. You can't get a bad sound out of a tube amp.
@@berndkiltz ok thanks for the reply. All the other presets work apart from one. The sound bar is going up when I play, but no sound coming from the speaker. I'll have another look later on. Thanks.
I know what the problem was. I have a way at the beginning of the chain. However my MFC101 midi foot controller wasn't plugged in.Hence no sound. This Axe FX ll is complicated, but I love it!
I'm all for the tubes roaring in my face Johnny but the versatility and freedom of an axe fx and a Parker Fly cannot be touched with any pre amp modeling setup. Btw I'm not saying that Parker is the guitar everyone should have. It depends on what suits you. But the axe fx is the solution for a complete rig in a box!

Ola Englund tones... every amp he demos sounds pretty much similar and also not like the original. i have a vypyr, he demo'ed one,sounded nothing like mine when recorded :L
Sorry, but the FX-2 can do way more than this. My Marshall MS-2 has more distortion... Dude, check out the review of Ola Englund and see what I think is a Metal sound!
Aha, it`s very easy, screw all the knobs and push all the Buttons we found- again and again, then go to programming and also sub programming area changing here and wondering there, do everything but do not play guitar. BIG Deal lol
If a band used these sounds for recording or playing, I'd destroy the CD with fire. It's pretty bad dude. The Axe FX can do AMAZING things! Look at Periphery, Tesseract, BTBAM, Devin Townsend, Today I Caught the Plague, The Safety Fire, and Animals as Leaders! GREAT TONES! This is so.............................................................. not good. Learn some metal tones, then come back.
