Watches and Wonders 2023: Many, many new watches from the watch brands we love and love to hate, and indeed several wonders…
I’ve spent the best part of two days wondering what the hell the Rolex designers were smoking when they came up with this, or even this monstrosity. Clearly the Rolex design team’s trial run of their ‘bring your kids to work day’ went down a hit! But by now you’ve heard all about that, watched countless videos reviewing those pieces hands-on, and whilst I am here in Geneva to touch them in the flesh and see for myself, I think what we all need to know is what is the impact of these new releases on the secondary market, what prices do I , a dealer, expect to see them at when they hit the open market and new releases to one side: DISCONTINUATIONS….do you have a Milgauss, green dial or meteorite dial Daytona?, QUESTION IS…what are they worth now???

Would be good to hear your thoughts on prices for the now old steel Daytona 116500 (panda & black) in the secondary market. I personally expect prices to climb above 10% given the ‘discontinuation’ of the older iteration.

Hi I’m afraid this just won’t happen, the changes are too subtle for the market to say, ‘we all prefer the older one’ therefore the majority will just want the latest and greatest, This has happened before with the sub 41mm update, prices will stay the same

Superb watch, they have kept it close to the original in design with the Explorer text in the north side of the dial and for that reason I think it is more investable than the earlier 39mm. It will trade initially above retail and will perform similar to the OP41s

Great video as always. Love the 1908 it's a bit Calatrava but that's no bad thing. As for the rest of the releases I love em, Rolex just put the fun back into watches.

At a third of the price too! I’ve just seen the watch in person and have to say it’s very elegant particularly in gold with black dial, the movement looks great too. The extra detail of Rolex green suede in the underside of the straps is a nice touch too that tells you you’re wearing a Rolex

What do you think the prices of the Platona with baguette dial which was discontinued ? The new baguette dial has the brown sub dials but the old baguette dial is all ice blue.

Hi, i don’t they are shipping anymore 116500 and we will have to wait until october for shipping of the new 126500 so any models registered between now and then will be classified last editions and i guess for collectors that’s a nice bonus as a long term investment

I remember when you could get Milgauss z-blue for around 5k, so I saved up, and when I got to 5k, they were 7, and when I had 7 they were 8, and now forget it.

Yes I did think this could alienate a lot of owners. The ‘presidents’ watch has a air of eliteness, a classy token of success. That’s why I was shocked by it the most as it’s like seeing Rolls Royce place a fat spoiler and go faster stripes on a phantom. They will likely chop it after a year and call it a one off I’m sure

I think your wrong about the prices on the day dates and oyster perpetual. Prices will be higher, much higher. Also I don't think you guys will have as much control on secondary prices as before due to Rolex CPO. We will see

If you want to sell, better get moving. When Rolex releases the new dials the coming years for the new bigger Daytona, including the green, price will fall I predict. Rolex fanboys want the newest new. The Daytona, has for years been considered “too small” when the new really enters the market, the old small ones will be less sought after.

I have to say you’re right about the majority wanting new and new only, a larger size Daytona however I doubt. If they wanted to do that they would have done it this time around. In fact I think the smaller hour markers and subdial rings is and effort to make the dial look larger on wrist without changing case diameter

@@vinnyfrancis They did it this timer around. I can tell you now, that the display models are coming to the AD’s in October😉 Then everyone will know of the true size. The Daytona getting bigger is what all the Daytona owners, or Daytona investors, is most concerned about, because it will hit the old models as hard as the ceramic bezel hit the 116520.
