You are absolutely right about them pitching the songs up and down, but that makes their 'Take on Me' bit more impressive, that high note is pitched *up* from the original song and Chicken Little still hits it.
I haven't read all of the comments... But the "Take your canvas bags" part that you seemed confused about is a Tim Michin song, and he performed on this stage right before them... they slammed that in at the moment to get a laugh. Also, the "once a jolly swag man" is an old Australian folk song, and they are Aussies playing to an Aussie crowd.
Thanks for explaining a little at the end. I hate when I hear people say that “oh all songs are just the same 4 chords, there’s nothing original” just because they use those 4 chords, there is still 1000 ways to play them. Change the tempo, change the key, change the melodic line. The same 4 chords can sound complete different. And it isn’t jus those 4 chords that work that way either.
And it’s stuff like that, that makes me love music as much as I do, except I can’t play a single instrument. Easily the best invention in all of mankind

I love how you can see his spirit slowly get crushed. Hilarious video. I've originally seen these guys like 10 years ago in high school. To address your comment at the end about them pitching it up and down, that's true, but they're keeping the same I IV V iv chord progression so it amounts to the same thing. Nice vid!
Ha ha, great reaction, just subbed from Scotland!!! Yeah, this was genius back in the day! What’s even crazier though, is that I’ve seen them do this 3 or 4 times and they always change it up a bit! Still a few of the same songs and same ending but vary the rest! You should have a quick look at their music video that goes with it - hilarious!!! They dress up as the singer each time - male and female! They also have a ‘how to make a love song’ version, but it’s no where near as funny! Great reaction though, keep it up!!!

There is more truth to this comedy skit than most are willing to admit. The music industry regurgitates the same crap over and over again. Any radio hit has variations of the same cord progressions.
Try out norwegian recycling if you like mash ups. These guys do mash up different. They take songs and make another song that tells a story. Start with mash it up
These guys used to mix the song up depending on where they were performing. Apparently they had over 300 different songs to play with. Hilarious dudes. Sadly they broke up. Just subbed!
I said it in jest, alot of those songs were big when i was young, just to hear they were all pretty much the same from that perspective was a bit much to take in. but again it was mostly in Jest
If u like intelligent,funny musicians u should check out TIM MINCHIN (if u haven't already) most people start with PREJUDICE but CONFESSIONS is another. I've only just discovered ur channel (& subbed) so don't know how ud go with THE POPE SONG or THANK U GOD.
