This kind of thing used to be common sense, I was taught to feel nuts on threads and not just put a wizz gun on it. Nowadays its all about speed and if it fucks up then that's just collateral. Similar to nobody knowing how to repair a starter or alternator, just replace with new. Times have changed and not sure if for the good. Chris.

I just got our Iveco psv’d this evening, it neeed ball joints on the front arms and torque tube bushes on the near side, hard going on your back lol. Finding your battery draw won’t be as bad, set the multimeter to amps and connect it to the negative lead and the other end to negative battery post so the meter is bridging the negative side of battery earth strap and it’ll tell you how many amps is being drawn and if it’s above something like .5 of amp pull fuses one by one until you find the draw. Good work with the axle nut that worked out the best for you

The wizard that rethreads axles is that Ivor?

The 12 tonne axle on a DAF wether it is a LF or the CF / XF with the small midlift ,you cant remove the nut with a gun ..It will strip every time ,as you say drill it..A tip for the sensors is get an old open end remember the size ,but bend it 90 degrees so it hooks round the sensor and you can then pivot the spanner and it generally removes tight sensor most of the time

I tried to remove my cv axel to replace my struts. Mushroomed the head getting it out. Couldn’t get nut to go back on. I welded my cv axel to my wheel hub. I need it to hold for a week until my new parts come in. Do you think it will hold?
