Excellent video as always! Your anchor, snubber and windlass guidance (at 8:00) is super helpful! I've struggled getting my anchor spun around before finally bringing it home and have been doing that by hand. Can't wait to try your method of tap tap to get it aligned. Cheers!

Really enjoy you explaining finer points of anchoring at the 9min mark and also workings of a boat such as you discussed radar a bit.. I was curious to see your dash voltage at times under 12volts (13,38min 11volt and 14.23 min 11.6v) even with engines at speed. I wonder that is using that much power?

Great question. We had a lithium battery system installed on this boat here in the USA by a company that does these types of retrofits on boats. Our goal was to get more available stored energy on the boat and to better understand this newer technology in the boating world to determine if its something we feel should be adopted or not. We are still wrapping our heads around it and the battery voltages are different than what we're used to.

We love these videos. Hoping to do more exploration of the Maine Coast coming out of Portland. Is there a good book you would recommend that shows fueling/docking/anchorage options?

I also did not think about radar interference with something mounted on the top rails. I was planning on taking a Thule box with me for much needed added storage, but that might not be a good idea.

Enjoyed the video. Looks like a terrific cruise, you were lucky with light winds and seas. The Axopar 37 has a lot to offer, but it simply isn't designed for big, tall people despite being designed and built in Scandinavia. The forward cabin is really squished for me.

I have, and I was very surprised to discover my head scraped a few spots in the main deck. Headroom is a problem for me in many boats -- I've had to rule out Axopar, Tiara, Formula, Regal, Wellcraft 35, and others. I recently acquired a Boston Whaler 350 Realm -- terrific headroom on deck everywhere, barely adequate in a small part of the cabin. Much different than the Axopar -- less weather shelter, much, much heavier boat, more of a day boat. But it works for me.

Great video. I was wondering why the boat doesn't have better options for a mini galley in the pilothouse or forward stateroom? Or a hot water heater? Or maybe this particular boat was not equipped with those options? Otherwise, like in your video, you're having to bring external solutions/extras to make up for it. Seems like those should be standard on a 37 footer. Given the narrow beam, is there more noticeable rocking at low speeds, at anchor, etc? Other than that, I'm pretty obsessed with these boats, the ease of use/docking, and the year-round utility of them. My dad will be listing his boat soon (2010 57' McKinna in NC)and downsizing...hoping he and I may go in on something like this or the 29 or 28 in the next year or two.

Charles, Thanks for your comment. So I subscribe to the 80% rule when choosing a boat. That is to build out a boat that is dialed for how you use it 80% of the time and make accommodations for the occasional situations. So many customers focus their purchase decisions on less than 10% usage and many times they end up with more boat than they need or more equipment. What’s challenging is being realistic about what is 80% use, I find myself fantasizing about multi day cruises, but my reality is I don’t have that much free time to put that into the 80% bucket of needs. In short, axopar does offer electric cook tops and water heaters. For me, I prefer to be able to remove this gear from the boat and not have it permanently fixed. I end up with a simpler boat and have great options for when I want hot water or to cook. What is fantastic about the axopar is how they have kept the boats simple and dialed for how I boat 80% of the time. This keeps the fun-to-trouble ratio to an all time high and results in me using the boat more often. Hopefully we can help get you out on the water some day on a boat that fits your 80% mission. Cheers

Great video, what did you do for added cooler space for your trip? Did you have an external one somewhere or did you use the starboard aft locker and add ice daily?

Quick question - how was it sleeping on the boat with your family? Did you and your wife sleep in the front cabin or aft? And where did you have the kids sleep? Is it extremely bright inside when you first wake up? (Asking as a family with two little kids😊) thanks!
@EastCoastYachtSales
@EastCoastYachtSales 10 месяцев назад
Sleeping on board as a family is one of the more fun and memorable things to do on the boat. The kids sleep forward and the adults sleep aft. (stay tuned for a more descriptive video coming). As for light, there are covers over the windows in the forward cabin if you want the cabin to be dark in the morning. You will notice when running during nap times the forward cover is installed in this video.

Glad you enjoyed the video! The soft top handles heavy rain without any problems. We did a video where we talked about the soft top in more detail and even ran some water tests. Check it out! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yAoPyrR-rlQ.html

Looks like it was an amazing trip! I really enjoyed this video and also learn so much about my own Axopar by watching your videos! One quick question, do you feel an anchor snubber is also needed for a 28 AC while beached a short time? Thanks so much for posting.
@EastCoastYachtSales
@EastCoastYachtSales 10 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching. In general, it’s best practice to use a snubber while on anchor. Not using a snubber is a judgement call based on the days weather, how long the boat will be on anchor and if your close by or not. If it was a nice calm day and I was hanging out by the beach for a couple hours while staying right close to the boat. I probably wouldn’t use a snubber.

Awesome video, I have boated once in Rhode island, and I was scared to hit the pots. It looks like you go through them with no issue, is that standard for east coast cruising?
@EastCoastYachtSales
@EastCoastYachtSales 10 месяцев назад
Thank you! One needs to be mindful of the lobster pots, but they’re not easy to catch one while at cruising speed. As long as the pot is off of dead center, we don’t worry about them too much. In our observation, when one slows down to trawler speed there is a better chance of catching a pot since there is less energy from the bow pushing the water away from the props.
