I just rescued a stray young hen living alone on the city streets. She spent a month roosting high in a neighbors spruce tree and spent her days tearing up the neighborhood mulch. Lol Extraordinarily hard to catch , very athletic bird. Also very sweet!
I currently own 3 two hens and roosters they are very intelligent and pretty much take care of themselves. I paid $50 for all 3 from a man who was moving out of state

@@sassybdiy7565 one of mine aren’t social at all. My rooster will play with children, he loves to talk, but he will only allow people he likes to touch him. If you buy it as a chick and let them grow up together even better
So I got twenty chicks from a TSC. Marked as bantams. Eight weeks later they have absolutely surpassed my bantam hens in size. My curiosity has led me down this road as these birds are sharing many of the characteristics.
We have 4 ayam cemani chicks. They're so so funny! They hold their own with the older chickens. Very feisty.. My husband and I jokingly call them our feral jungle chickens. 😂
I just got 8 of them at a small animal auction. 3 are youths and 5 are young. They just called them black chick's. The 3 older ones were $8.00 each and the 5 older chick's were $1.00 each had no idea what I came home with. Joined a chicken group and they knew right off what they were
I own a roo and hen, also have some of their offspring. I can say the roo is quite sweet but not a cuddlebug. Yes they are low maintenance. I normally ask for about 100 each for an unsexed chick. And you are correct about low egg production. This is not the bird for large volume of eggs 🙂
I have 2. The hen has been sitting on eggs for at least 21 days. On has hatched, but I found it dead. She has not moved and I don’t know how many more eggs there are, because she gets quite upset when I try to see. Her rooster is extremely protective of her when I get too close. I don’t know if any more of her eggs are viable. What should I do?
I've got a few in Beaumont Texas plus working on a plus size and egg increased production. Black Meat bigger bird's stronger egg production . I'll keep you informed
I have one but it has some grey-ish color around the neck area but don't know what he's crossed with. Does anyone here have an opinion what it can be crossed with? Please and thank you!😊
I don't know where you get your info from, but they are NOT that expensive. Nor are they really even "rare". You can buy hatching eggs on eBay at any time and they certainly are not that expensive. The white Cornish is certainly much more rare and expensive.
@@fabianbenitez7104 I'd find a reputable breeder. If nothing hatches, broken eggs, or they aren't all black you may loose money and be left with that mess.
Yeah it only took me a couple of days to find some chicks on FB market place and I only paid $10 each. Sure… it’s triple what I pay for most other chicks… but $10 ain’t bad for a really awesome bird. I’m sure it also depends on your location and demand.
I was currently given one for free. I’m told it’s a rooster at 17 weeks of age. I’m curious if he is a rooster. There are no spurs and “his” comb and waddle and very small. He does not crow as well. So not sure when all of that should happen. There is hardly any information on this breed
I just bought 2 unsexed Ayam Cemani chicks at $40 each. Then my sister's cat ate one before she managed to rescue the second one from the cat's clutches. Now I have one $80 chick named Lucky.
