Powerful video! Senna was a racing genius, but he was even better as human being. He had answered to Prost assumptions about him acting like he thought to be immortal just because he believed in God. He said that the fact he believed in God did not mean he thought to be immortal or invulnerable. He perfectly knew he could die, he could fail, he could have bad incidents, he could lose everything, but he had a deep spiritual, almost mystical, nature and he felt that challenging his limits was part of his nature, the way God made him in this life, although he was perfectly conscious of the dangers. He accepted them, it was part of his racing spirit, being ready to give life for glory. "I refuse to walk away from the fight" he said. But this never meant he was an ego obsessed guy who did not care for human life. On the contrary, he always fought for safety of cars, racers, trucks, even when it could cost him his career, he risked his own life to save Eric Comas life, he always helped others. He was the most competitive and aggressive genius on cars (he defined himself drugged by victory), but outside of car racing he was a humble, down on earth, really caring, lovely human being, who respected, helped and cared for family, friends, people who worked with him, people in need, in any circumstances. He really cared for his country, he did a lot for disadvantaged people of his country. He was killed by an incident on May 1 1994, in Imola, caused by the negligence of the mechanics of his team. They did a bad job in modifying too in a hurry with bad materials and badly projected and executed modifications at the steering column of his FW16 and it had a sudden breakage at the 7th lap of the race, while he was entering the Tamburello curve, leaving him as the helpless passenger of his car launched at 310 km/h against a concrete wall. Oy few tents of second to break, but it wasn't enough to stop the car. The carbonium reinforced cell of his cockpit defended his body, but he suffered a severe head trauma, a lethal cranium base fracture and the arm of the front suspension, broken during the crash, hit his helmet and penetrated it as an harpoon, cutting the temporal artery and causing a big loss of blood. He died (his mind and spirit were gone) at 2,17 p. m on the track in Imola, soon after the crash, while his heart stopped beating at 6,40 at the Ospedale Maggiore of Bologna. His country celebrated him with one of the biggest funeral in history. 3 days of public mourning, State funerals with high military honors, weapon salutes, military parade, FAB jet fighters flying in diamond formation to honor him, 3 to 5 millions of people in the streets of Sao Paolo for him mourning their hero, 1 million of people paying respect and tribute in front of his coffin. Many more millions followed on TV. A whole nation of more than 150 millions of people was crying as much as millions of other persons all around the world. I was one of these persons. Obviously this mam was more than a talented car racer. This generous genius and beautiful human being left some last gifts for people who loved him and even for the next-generations, after his death. 1. The shock caused by that tragic weekend in Imola, the darkest of F1 history, and by the death live on TV worldwide of the most loved and talented racer ever seen since then was a turning point in F1 history. It realized the complete change of mentality about safety in F1, that saved many lives (unfortunately not the one of the poor Jules Bianchi, but after his death the HALO system became obligatory and saved other lives). Thanks to this change today's racers has longer and safer careers. They own this to Senna and his blood wasted in Imola 2) He had a beautiful soul. He inspired people with his mind and thoughts. There are so many quotes about him. He was a car racer with a poetic saw on life. Ayrton was a piece of art. 3) He cared about his country. He did a lot of charity during his life, silently, some of his deeds were known only after his death. He saved and maintained children from the streets, even some 'meninos de rua' from favelas. Before dying he understood that the charity of a rich man is not enough. Poor people deserves more. He organized a Fundation that after became an institute to provide help in education for disadvantaged children of Brazil. This Institute was realized by his family (above all his sister) after his death. Today is still helping hundreds of thousands of children, it received UNESCO recognition in 2004 and 2021. He thought that, if we want to change things for a better future of countries, we have to start from the children and from their education. Children must be protected and respected. Some of his thoughts about these ideas "If a person has no more dreams, no longer has any reason to live. Dreaming is necessary, even if in the dream goes glimpsed reality. For me it is one of the principles of life. You can't change the world alone. But you can do your part to change it a bit. What I really do for poverty I'll never say. The F1 is a miserable thing compared to this tragedy. I'm a privileged person, I always had a very good life. But all I got from the life i gained it with the commitment and the strong desire to achieve my goals, to win in life, not as a pilot. So let me tell you that whoever you are in life, whether you are at the lowest or higher level, you must have great strength and great determination and you have to face anything with great love and faith in God, and one day you will reach your goals and you will succeed. I have no idols. I admire the hard work, dedication and competence. Each person has his faith, his way of looking at life. Most of people refuse to talk about topics like these. For me is important to be at peace with ourselves. The way to find this balance is through the faith in God. Rich people can't live on an island surrounded by an ocean of poverty. We all breathe the same air. You have to give everyone a chance. If I did what I did, is because I had a great chance in my life. To grow up in the right way, to live well, enjoy good health, to learn a lot. And I have been helped, at the right times, to go in the right direction. The most important thing is to be yourself, not to let anyone hinder you only because someone wants you to be different. You have to be yourself. Many times you make mistakes because of your personality, your character or interference that you can find along the way. But you can just learn from your mistakes. And this is the main thing: use the mistakes to learn. I believe in the ability of concentrate depply in order to make progress and even more. Life is too short to have enemies." In the end he also managed to start a sort of friendship even with his greatest adversary, Alain Prost. His last words for him are really moving
