Riedypi Big L's not underrated, he's overrated. Cormega was never anything special, neither was Afu Ra. Even Mos Def isn't underrated; he's highly respected by Hip-Hop heads. Pretty poor list of underrated MCs.
+Eziokilla9595 you saying that big L is overrated just mind boggles. I mean is his sovereignty in freestyle really being neglected by you, or how about his imaginative and virtuosity in word-play. And lastly he's most competent aspect which is punchlines and delivering like no other mc. As for Afu ra, he's undoubtedly the most perceptive mc due to his good knowledge in existence. The rest can be reasoned with because their qualities my not be sufficient or maybe already rated fairly.
Riedypi You need to listen to some Hip-Hop that came out after 1999. Big L sounds ridiculously dated, and he was never some technical genius or boundary pusher either. He was a modest punchline rapper with a bit more self-awareness and freestyle capability than the average MC in the 90's. Chino XL, Vakill, Celph Titled, Apathy, Diabolic, and Crooked I are a few examples of punchline rappers who have completely usurped Big L's "throne." There's nothing imaginative about his wordplay. He's got some decent lines, but nothing mind-blowing. And, if you think Afu-Ra is "undoubtedly the most perceptive mc due to his good knowledge in existence," then, I'm sorry, but you just don't know good Hip-Hop. Illogic, Slug, Eyedea, Sage Francis, Aesop Rock, Brother Ali, El-P, Shad K, One.Be.Lo, Aceyalone, and Gift of Gab are all vastly superior MCs who meditate on existential issues with greater depth.
whats the problem with a few cursed words fuck all vevo supporters cursed words are the way rappers make people know that they mean buissenes with what they say its a way of sayin fuck your diaperwearing adults that think they have to controll evrything to give the kids a great future
AZ the most UNDERRATED artist of all time, maybe in 500 years when a young hip-hop history student is studying the history of hip-hop they will put him in his rightful place.
This beat is just unreal. It stands above not only in hip-hop but general in music. In '06 when this joint dropped I was a second grade high school student and I was constantly listening to it even in class when I had computer science lesson and we had speakers. Until now I cannot believe how dope this is in my 26 years of life. I really can't describe the feelings that gives me everytime I hear it. Thanks a lot to AZ and Dj Premier of course!
I can't even express in words how perfect this track is in all regards... Two masters, Premier on production and AZ on the mic. This is one of those duos that make pure magic for your listening pleasure... It blows my mind that this track isn't an anthem around world...
Yes! AZ ... for sure!!! - would be on a list of under-rated or not recognized enough ( just made that up i think🤪) MC's ..add dj premier ..fugdheadaboutit!!
Young and gifted, my tongues prolific. In the beach bungalow is how I brung in Christmas. For the streets I'ma flow from the hungriest districts. Swiss kicks crisp when I come to them picnics...
We just have to be happy that we even had the golden era of hip hop, let alone having grown up in it. I feel you man, I'm just glad I know real hip hop.
I don't listen to this bullshit, no way! You can't go from studying God to listening to fucking chumps yapping about God knows what! Our Hip-Hop was real!
they have no freedom no more they sit in a room with numbers and say, we have to talk about this to appeal to this crowed forced by the record label on what they can rap about and say
whats mainstream for you and did you ever give a thought about why mainstream got mainstream??? if you want to say new school rap sucks well go ahead i dont give a fuck but if you call out all mainstream rappers from the 90s better shut your stupid mouth as this is just blatant and stupid way of copying the opinions of otheres. i call them wannabe rap experts who sit there sayin hmm thinking of it evrything that is mainstream is bullshit and since im obviously a expert talking of rap i have to say only underground has really got what it takes.
Holy shit does this song bring back memories. The first time I ever heard it was on my 3DS, I literally just clicked A and then Z and found this amazing song over 8 years ago 😂
Song will always be dope. AZ is one of the illest. ✊ I agree with the comments about him being underrated. Its crazy how underrated he actually is. But alot of the best artists, never get the shine they deserve.
Not only is AZ extremely underrated. This track is also so underrated, I rarely see people mention this one their AZ-song lists. This is probably his top 3 track imo!
I know this came out in 06 but I get such 90s reminiscent vibes when I hear this track. Guess cause AZ and primo defined 90s hip hop so much for me that whenever I hear them I'm just reminded of that period of hip hop. Love this track
Mad combo, DJ Premier really illustrated AZ style in this beat which showcased his amazing lyrical abilities. Bringing in pure hip hop. This is a work of art and poetry 🖼️ it’s rather unique
GYEAHHHH NIGGGAAAA! lol, to be honest this guy is the man, he reps Tupac multiple times, yet flows his own way and lays down great lyrics. been listening to this song for like 15 years just want to show some appreciation now in 2023. old men in their 30's respect lol.
