I totally get it! We think we have forever when we’re young to go back and do stuff. Reality slaps us right in the face when we start to get older & we realize we don’t have forever & need to take advantage of every opportunity we have to do something incredible which is what you did! Grand Canyon is beautiful!
This brought back such great memories. My husband and I did South Kaibab to Phantom Ranch spent one night then Bright Angel back up in 2019. I was 62 and he was 65. We thought the same. If not now, when? It was the most breathtaking hike of our life. I will never forget it!!

This may very well have been our favorite episode EVER - this trail was amazing! We had the opportunity to visit Grand Canyon last March when we drove cross country and did some hiking on the Bright Angel Trail ourselves. That hike has been one of the top highlights of our hiking adventures. We never in a million years imagined ourselves hiking in the Canyon. We loved seeing the Bright Angel Campground and the Kiabab Trail - what an awesome awesome area! We are all about getting out there and enjoying every moment possible - and we are hoping to return to the Canyon next year and this hike is now on our radar! Thank you for some wonderful memories from 40 years ago when we did this hike! Setting off to do another section of the Camino de Santiago, Portugués in less than 2 weeks. My husband is 69 and I am 64. Fitter than I was 40 years ago, that's for sure, despite arthritic knees. Next dose of hyaluronic gel in both knees 3 days before we set off. We are also planning on going back to finish the Muxia/Fisterre 20 miles which I couldn't complete 2 years ago. I identified so much with your chat about not wanting to stop and rest Christy. Started a trek in NJ and stepped my way to Maine where I lived and loved life until things took a down turn. But I continued trekking for a while longer. Alas military health related issues snuck back in. So anyway love watching all of you. hiking videos 24/7 in my house
I’m so glad you all decided to hike into the GC and spend a couple of days. What a great weather window you all had. And the flowers! If I can make a recommendation I suggest taking a 16 day river rafting trip down the river. It was a transformative event in my life. You will see and experience things you would never see any other way. It’s pricey but as my friend from the south says, coffins don’t have pockets.

My husband spent a week in the canyon when he was in college, back in the ‘70’s. It was a formative event in his life. Their week on the canyon floor coincided with a full moon, so they even took midnight hikes, as well as hiking out at night (to squeeze every last moment out of their trip!). I can’t wait to rewatch your video with him, I know he’ll absolutely love it!

I’ve never had such a motivator as running out of time to go and see what I want to go and see. I’m present for a whole lot of sunrises on top of mountains and down in the valleys because of it. I’ve found some amazingly quiet places around Hot Springs since moving from Townsend which is near Newfound Gap. And the older I get, the more alone in these places I want to be. You guys are an inspiration and I really mean that. Much love from East Tennessee

Love how you continue your amazing journey in whatever direction it takes you. I have no doubt that losing your sister at that young age changed the way you look at life now. I lost my wife 19 months ago at 59, it has changed my thinking now too. No time like the present to do things that may have challenged me before. Scary but exhilarating at the same time. Mint tea for me. I am just in after a bike ride on a loop from home down the coastal path then inland on minor roads. It has turned cold here again (NE Scotland) but it's dry and my pain levels are pretty low these days, on pills, so it's good to get out. Your injury could be made worse by long days hiking, but as you say at lot can happen which could lead to you not ever getting to that bit of trail. I am with you, rest when dead. Do what your body can manage now and let your rest time come later. Mary Poppins fits in which you two so well. She is such a cheerful woman, and very fit. The canyon is something I want to see some day. Looking at options, it seems complicated to get permission to hike down in to it. I am not fit for such a hike...maybe there is a mule trail I could do. Great filming. Thanks.
You gals are fantastic. Followed you for years. I’ve done portions of AT, PCT, and hope to do AZ. I’m 71 and in the best shape of my life. Nothing beats being outdoors, hiking, and living each day. Thanks for sharing your adventures. Wish I were with you. Btw - where is Lynn?

Wonderful! Loved this. At one point I teared up and felt a little down since I can't currently do this type of stuff - but then I sucked it up and continued watching and smiled at the great beauty. It's been years since I've been to the 'Canyon' but recall some of the views you caught on camera. It's always so stunning. Thank you as always, for a great filming/editing job!
I hiked Bright Angel trail while in my 20’s. Couldn’t afford decent hiking boots/ my toes got bruised going downhill- my toenails fell off. Would love to do it now at age 69 before it’s too late.
