yes and no. She is good if you can get air control. If not, she is pointless. She falls off really hard in world 13... even though people are saying she is great. She is not good on world 13, you would end up running double CVs to counter the ACV drop. That is bad. She makes fleets not flexible, and in the end will end up weakening your fleet. She could drop 2 ACV, that is 26% less aerial damage, and 13% increased aerial damage taken to the whole fleet. Her buffs are not good enough to counter that, which is why you would need double CV fleet. That double CV fleet will get thrashed on mobs after 3 nodes, and can not fight Taihou. On paper she sounds good, but she is not in practice. Your better off running her when its Safe Zone, and even then you could still run so many other ships when safe zoned.
I have to say, this list is not acurate at all. Mi Atago does 400 burn damage , in pvp she eats the enemy destroyers plus if you combine her with ibuki she does defeat the enemy boss easily. Some of the ships above her are actually worse and even if they have more potencial , Atago outperforms them, the only thing is though that if you are not using the specific equipment for her then she is not doing that hot, it took me a year to realize it but now that I find it she is stronger than half Azuma. Takao has a diferent problem and is that 30% double damage sometimes misses the target, Atago on the other hand already made the enemy on fire and dealt a lot of damage already. I would even say in a pvp, Atago is stronger than Roon. I’m obsessed with her because I discovered her Arsonist skill potencial. I will not give a like to this video.
@@atlantishorizon Dude did you watch the video? This tier list is based on the hardest maps on CN/JP servers, presumably world 13. And Atago's low anti-air really hurts on those maps. Atago also can't beat out the top tier meta ships like Yukikaze, Noshiro in PVP. She just doesn't have good support for the team.
Elfase she does have an offensive ability which has 30% doble torpedo, this applies for every vanguard with torpedo. Plus like I said Takao has a better ability with lower efficiency, she can miss that double damage shot while Atago won’t have that problem. I do say that there are better ship’s than Atago, like Azuma with her large cruiser gun, she is basically an evolution of Atago mixed with eagle union. But is way easier to get Atago. Also to mention, I already had pvps with Atago against Roon for example, before her shield Atago is already burning her, and yukikaze is a pain in the ass but with Aurora, her dodge is lower and if Atago hits her, wich is posible with the right gun, Yukikaze will be defeated. I insist, I don’t say Atago is a top ship, I am saying that people never use her correctly, even in world of warships she is the best tier 8 heavy cruiser, even in Azur Lane she does good against bosses and maps in general, and in pvp she does burn them to dead and is halarious, she also provides an offensive support with 30% doble torpedo which with Ibuki is stronger. In other words: Atago is an offensive and stable ship with high efficiency.

Azuma is OP because she's practically a BB pretending to be a CA, which includes her high hp & especially so if you upgrade her armor to heavy using the Gold armor equipment. She has a strong barrage & a powerful firepower which is equal to a mid-tier battleship volley. Roon you described pretty well - the AP/HE switch makes her versatile and every time she does it her reload speed also slightly increases, making her incredibly good for longer battles. Zara is most describe as a Roon-lite - her shield skills are similar to the German but she is cheaper to operate since she's only a SR & not a PR rarity. Unfortunately to really make her shine you need the Gold Italian 203mm gun which fires Semi-AP rounds to give her maximum effect, which I sadly do not have. I personally do not have Minneapolis which makes me rather sad.
Zara doesnt need the Gold Italian 203mm. Her skill makes HE and Semi-AP deal more damage but doesnt ignite (burns), and makes AP gives 8% chance to increase damage. So basically she can use any guns. The semi-AP gun with its long reload time is not even recommended at all.

For future reference, you have the gain turned up too high on your mic. Turn it down and use compression to turn back up cleanly in post-processing (audix and other free audio programs can do this).
A couple of words about London retro. She is definitely a glass canon at lvl 100, but on 120 lvl she is much more surviable, not a top tier, but almost at middle. Don't forget, that she has +15 eva from her retrofit, 82 base on lvl 120 as compensation for low hp. Medium armor vs heavy can be disadvantage or advantage (vs torps or bombs). She has okay survivability for ch 13 mob fleet. Her dps theoreticaly is about the same as, for example, Baltimor's, but CA gun has low fire arc so you will not shoot sometimes, instead dd gun has 360 degree arc, and London has 160% modifier with about 350 fp stat so in reality, especialy in autobattles, London has a top tier dps among all CA, maybe even #1. And she buffs FP of all vanguards too. Portland's defensive skill is not as good as you said, because it has only about 10% uptime and her damage is much, much lower, then London's so I would put London on t0 after the Baltimore - she is definitely higher then Ibuki, Saint louis and Portland, but lower then prototypes and Baltimore/Bremertone (because of survivability).

That would be Microlayer Medley btw! Reno is a great waifu with the second best AA stat for a Light Cruiser following San Diego retrofit, so she has good potential. No one really knows her exact perfomance yet, since she was just released recently. I'm glad you're liking my guides!
Jesus, what happened?! Suddenly Murrica liberated T0. Also I agree Essex has more sustained dmg overall, and the new plane strenghtens her already high anty BB capabilities. Also, London isn't that frail, just slap evasion gear + fire extinguisher and she's good to go. I currently auto-farm mobs D3 with her and Hiryuu. Sadly Portland do not work in in this combination. My fleet would loose on dps and wither even on manual. Lodon's dps is just too good, with that terryfying secondaries.

I am kind of biased because I started on the event and she was my first SR ship. I really want her to be rated better too. :(. Edit: I think your Roon isn't at max dev level yet? We started on the same event but I have not a single maxed out PR ship yet T-T. Because by right, Roon does have higher theoratical DPS. The thing that makes Zara stand out is her shield.
Enterprise Retrofit new skill: Everytime she has an airstrike, 100% chance to delete the enemy commander's Azur Lane account and all his ship girls currently not in you dock is transferred to your account. Additionally, when the fleet Enterprise is in wins a battle, 100% chance for map to drop 50 aux plates.

hey man loving your content. I got a question what makes you keep or retire a ship (I have been keeping most and have a dock of 240 ships) and the constitution of fleets( i kinda use full faction fleets)
Man, I like that you're doing this but you're information about why ships are in x position or why ships aren't as good as others is just a little misinformed. For example, Brem does get 25% more aa if she's in the middle, but actually do you want 25% more aa or 20% less damage taken? Baltimore class has good aa anyway and yes adding more is great but even in W13 Sandy with Balti and Monte is easily enough. The only reason to switch Monte for Brem is that she will survive a ton more and ultimately deal more damage. Baltimore special ap whilst isn't a massive increase does matter against bosses and considering her fp stats she does exceptional damage. But again when talking about her gimmicks using her without a cv gives her more damage if you go this way, and a 15% eva/ I know ultimately that only works out as a low number but due to her heavy cruiser status even small numbers matter on he EVA side. (The same as why you don't stack eva on destroyers resulting in diminishing returns!) Roon, tanky the ap/he ammo switch is a moderate gimmick and doesn't result in much of a damage buff or debuff as its fairly balanced. But what isn't is her insane barrage and her great reload catalyst. As someone already has said, Azuma is great, yes as a rainbow ship she has great stats and some good skills. Typical PR/Research ship~ Except she sports battleship guns and deals insane damage because of this. (This is something worth mentioning) I know you don't have her, niether do I because I went FDG first and didn't fancy another rainbow next. But a little research would go a long way for credibility here!) Minne~ Great solo or duo farmer at harder content trying to keep oil levels down, she kills quick, self buffs and self heals.
I think Mogami's damage output might be better. She's basically a Main Gun +1 CA mixed with a Torp one. The downside is I think she might lack Portland's good defensive abilities.
I kinda wish I had done some research before starting my first research ship. I chose Saint Louis simply because it was the first one available without knowing just how much work went into one, and it turns out to be a tier below other stuff that's easier to get.
SL is a beast though and borderline OP when paired with Richelieu, esp with the +10 prototype triple 203mm gold gun equipped. This is just one person's opinionated tier list and not by any means 'official'. I mean he's got Portland and Baltimore in T0 🤦♂️. Portland's yellow skill just barely puts her into T1 and you're also shoe-horned into using horrible Indianapolis to get the most out of her. Baltimore is crippled by her AP based red skill which hinders her DPS badly until chapter 12 when you actually start fighting heavy armor mobs/bosses where AP is actually worth using. The rest I def agree with. Azuma>Roon>Bremerton and Minne (Saint Louis and Algerie just missing the cut) in that order are imo, the only 4 CA's in the game worthy of T0 or S-Tier as I call it. I also got her first but I don't regret it at all. Looking back, I would have def went for Monarch or Roon first. I have all 3 now and all 3 were instant slot-ins you can't go wrong either way.
For Azuma and Roon, it says 'Max' so they're only good/effective if you've maxed out their blueprints or are they still worth using temporarily like when you're leveling them up to 120? I just recently got Azuma's gun and maxed out all her skills and been leveling her up (currently 109) and been having a lot of fun using her. Also subbed and looking forward to more Azur Lane content.
You can definitely use them if they're not max blueprint level, just bear in mind that they'll obviously not perform as well as they should be. So if oil is a problem then I would not recommend using them yet due to inefficiency. I've been using my Kitakaze at 24ish BP level and she's been fun too. Sometimes she may get completely outperformed by my other ships, but she's definitely loads of fun to use.
Sorry but I still dont understand why Portland is supposed to be so good. Sure, her stats are nice and she has two cannons, but she also has one useless skill unless you have Indianapolis in the fleet and one defensive skill. And if I learned one thing from your videos, than that DPS > All. When I played her she never felt like she was such a big deal.. I don't get it.
Shes not. I went about it in different angles and setups and I can't seem to figure out where she earns T0 here. No one else has her that high, nor any of my experiences would I place her that high. With buff from having Indy paired with her and her yellow skill at +10 I can maybe see T1. Not sure why Baltimore is T0 either. Maybe if you looking at CA's for Chapter 12/13 maybe.
Exeter is my oath ship and highest level ship. (Ashigara is close behind). Simply adore her. Do slightly like her original skin over her retrofit though. Think the eyes look a lot better. Slowly retroing portland. Just modernized Helena. Curious as to where the new french ships and Helena retro would fit in your charts?
same can and SHOULD be said about FDG , 19 oil is no joke , pre dev 30 having only 2 MGM she ain't outperforming other PR BBs who you can dev 30 obviously way earlier.
yah that would be helpful, to put 2 azuma on a tierlist, 1 t0 and 1 t0.5 lmao. Why the need to point that out, we talking maxed ships here. im pretty sure they wont take a dev25 roon to test if she is deserving of t0 spot. Pointing this out is rather useless. and her oil cost is justified as she is a Large Cruiser, oil cost is not even a big of a deal, everyone use lowcost fleet to grind events anyway, Azuma is a luxury boat and treat her as one.
Sanrui should be higher. She's not weaker than Roon by any stretch of the imagination. High survivability, high DPS, high AA for her class, benefits from Richie now that we have a dedicated French fleet buffer (and Richie's already a phenomenal BB). The benefits of Roon's ammo swapping are also her detriment, she will only do high DPS half the time and the other half she'll be using AP against light armour or HE vs heavy. Sanrui is 100% specialised on tearing light and medium targets a new asshole and she does it better than most, within her class and out. Unless you're going 100% in on KMS fleets, I'd always recommend Sanrui over Roon. ESPECIALLY now that Richie exists to level the flagship playing field with Bisko.
I don't care about tier lists when it comes to Dido and Akagi. They carried me literally ever since the beginning (I started playing when the Fight on royal maids even was running and Dido was the 2nd ship and the 2nd sr ship I've ever gotten. When it comes to Akagi, I was just super lucky to get her the 3rd time I played 3-4. I'm now lvl 71 and I still have them in my main fleet and oathed them both. They're my soul and body and I'll never let em go)
Maybe there's something I'm missing, but I can't for the life of me understand why Wichita would be in T2? Seems there are plenty in T3 who are even better than her. So what's the magic in Wichita placing her that high? (I'm a 6 month "newb" so a sincere question if I'm blind to something)

'just upgrade to portland retrofit' I would if she would ever shut up; same goes for saratoga. Both of those loudmouths have been collecting dust in my port forever. Would rather use a full takao-class vanguard before touching any of those two; my lv69 sandy(non-retro) is cheerleading beside them.
Is Portland Retro really that good? Cause in my fleet, whenever I put my big 3 Vanguard together(Ajax Retro, Laffey Retro, Portland retro) she never gets highest damage in vanguard, or even top 3 highest in entire fleet, whether it is PVP or PVE. And they are all maximum enhanced, and level 100+. It's always Ajax or Laffey, but Ajax favored.
My understanding is that Portland retrofit is considered the beginner’s tanky CA until you get better options. You would use them as like the main tank for a boss fight. She trades getting a skill in her retrofit for a lot of HP and evasion. In my personal experience, she was one of my best ships early on, but now that I have Zara and Roon, I prefer those two when I need a tanky CA with some DPS. Though neither of those three can compete with Baltimore. Still a solid ship though
Dam i retrofitted York,Exeter,Fortune and use them in my HMS pve fleet..I thought that they were pretty crazy expensive..Best thing about exeter is she gets 4 skills instead of the usual 3.
TheBikeOnTheMoon this list also miss one very powerful blue ship and that is Phoenix. Stat wise she is definiely where she should be. However, she has the Fletcherr sisters skill that restore 25% health once per battle once she hit 20%, making her great for cheap mob fleet clearing as she JUST WON‘T DIE.
Kinda disappointed, I thought the video will explain why the ship is in that tier, throw in some arguments and comparisons with ships that has similar role with it rather than just simping and reading what's already in the wiki (koumakan wiki). No. Indy is such a mediocre ship that it ends up being a loss to get the small buff on Portland. Use Portland by herself, she does okay. I don't agree with putting her at T0 as Ander did (her yellow skill just barely get her into T1 imo), but she's a solid ship. Not using Indy also frees up wasting red skill books, which you will need elsewhere.
Anyone know the best auxilaries for azuma? I currently use the SG radar and hydraulic steering gears tk buff her evasion and accuracy, but was womderimg if there was anything better than them 2.
Yes sadly she has that skill but no aux for some reason pisses me of but at least she has one of the highest FP stat almost better than roon correction it is better just checked
Not a stupid question at all! It could definitely be possible to have a boss fleet with only heavy cruisers, since there's so many good ones to choose from. (Baltimore, Bremerton, Portland, the PR's) It'll definitely be a lot harder though because of the slowness of having all Heavy Cruisers even with the beaver tag on. You may still be an issue if one of those airplanes with their death machine guns and bombs that cover half the screens start hitting your vanguards. Those things hurt way too much, and if you can't dodge them, your vanguard could get wiped.

@@ItsAnderYT noice! I want my fleets to be at lvl 110+ before hitting chapter 12 but i think i already have a solid boss backline in Saratoga Kai, Enterprise and Hood. For my trashfleet i have Uni, Shouhou and Ryouhou but I find Rossiya fits better in Shouhou's slot aince 3 healers is a bit over kill. I'll let you know once i hit world 12.
I'd say it's up to personal preference, but I'd say a large part of the community would say that FDG is the better of the two. She's undisputedly the best battleship that is still overpowered for any of the content in the game so far.
I kinda disagree with Saint Louis being T1, she has survivability as good or better than Roon due to high evasion, meanwhile Roon lower evasion has comparison and only has shields to block light gun fire like DD guns. Saint Louis has lower, but still competitive firepower with Roon, same with health. I just don't see how she can be so low compared to Roon, who herself is a straight upgrade to Portland, despite having stats that are comparable to her, sometimes better.
it is known in the AL community that Usagi sensei tier list is more based on theoretic's and values over all capability instead of role dynamics. It should be a general guide, not a real tier list. Any one who knows anything about a lot of AL knows not to follow his tier list. It is purely referential and general guidelines. Roon is the best CA Tank in game, Azuma comes close, but Azuma is more of a all around power house, with a giant HP pool. You would use Azuma more for her busted damage than her high hp tanking ability.
Portland is significantly better than her sister, so she is much better off being used alone. This also means that you don't have to upgrade her skill that boosts her damage when sortied with Indi. Almost every beginner mistakens that they should always keep Portland/Indi together, but replacing Indi with someone higher up on the tier list results in a much better fleet.
Also indy has a line were she says portland should focus more on herself and not indy because she can be good in her own right. in comes portland a t0 blue (basically a common) heavy cruiser.Its like they deliberately made portland stupidly good.
andrew wisniewski psshhh, did you know there someone with endless proc that can insta wipe a backline? Ranger has a skill that can proc insta reload for her planes which can continue to proc per airstrike with no cool down, just enter and exit a practice battle until she proc her endless airstrike and watch the world burn.

why is Roon tier 0 with Rui being one when the latter has -Better AA -better torps for dealing with heavy armor -better DPS all in all while not hitting as hard on med and heavy armor as Roon she is no slouch -while her evasion boost is active she is actively tankier than Roon due to more ehp while Roon -has a skill that actively gimps her DPS -shields are a meme except for Zara's at most they'll be useful in EX fights -awful AA -one of the worst torps in the entire game the only thing Roon has against Rui or any other better heavy cruisers, is being a better tank moreover seeing as Rui's evasion boost dips, while Roon just stands as PR prinz eugen.
No. Her DPS is god awful. She's a solid tank, that's about it. I have her with the 2nd best CA gun in the game +10 and level 115 atm yet she struggles to break 15k damage in the stages I'm on. Hell Unicorn, a healing CV, does almost that much lol. Eugen needs a red skill badly. My Saint Louis with the same exact gun does around 40k damage average and shes only lvl 107. SL also seems to absorb the same amount of damage before close to death, even without a 'shield'.
As a casual noob who knows nothing, can someone explain to me why Hipper doesn't appear on this list in either base or U-form? Is there some sort of Al joke at play that I am missing here?
Sadly, my lovely tsundere Hipper is quite bad and did not make it in the top section the tier list. If you click the link on the description, you can see the full tier list which includes the second part of it. @@binhsua1507 No I mean the entire vanguard tier list. If you noticed a lot of vanguard tier 0 are gunships, ie ship that has strong gun focus. Aside from Ayanami in the destroyer tier list all the vanguard tier 0 are strong gunships, strong tanks or strong support. That is what I mean.

binh duong do As you can see in my previous reply, there‘s an aversion to torp boat (my quote there‘s a bias for tank, gun boat and support boat.) I also said only in tier 0 bias. The reason Kizuna Ai is the same as Portland but in tier 2 is cost effectiveness, all the ship that‘s better than Portland all does better than her despite the having slightly higher cost, meanwhile portland is purple yet have the oil cost of a blue, meanwhile, Kizuna Ai is slightly less tanky, average dps but has the cost of a yellow, that‘s why she‘s lower on the list. And for your last point, I absolutely agree with you, that‘s why I believe Ibuki should be higher, that‘s why I criticize the list of not appreciating torp boats.

Yeaaa man Jean Bart is a beast! I feel she could totally get into tier 0, but the thing is it's kind of exclusive to the ships that have the super good barrages, and sadly Jean Bart doesn't have one of those. :( (but she really doesn't need one, she does more damage than a whole battleship barrage in like 2 shots lol)
Ive had my south dakota hit for 46k damage from a single turret on a lvl 90 hm boss. Instantly ended the boss battle before the boss battle animation even ended. Had her with the +10 Twin 380 mm guns (bismarcks guns) that shoot AP and +8 type 91 AP auxillary..She procced focused assault and each shell landed for 24k damage. Pretty dumbfounded at that shot lol.
York is much better than her sister Exeter, but they're still both not nearly as good as the Tier 0 and Tier 1 heavy cruisers. Definitely usable but can be outshined by many other ships.

@@Desejos0001 there's a lot of options for Neptune's PR farming! Your fleet looks good, and if you want, I'd consider adding Aurora or Belfast if you have them. Also, you can put in Leander (the grey ship) so that you can get extra XP for a very low additional oil cost.
She was like always scoring a MVP in my lower level fleet with minimal equipments, such a beast. But her design are not my taste so i used her less than another new ships. Probably i'm really need to consider it now.

Yeah Jintsuu tier 2 is because she only buff CL and DDs. One of which powerlevel fall depressingly steep in the later worlds. Meanwhile her replacment basically buff everyone and she herself is quite a decent boat.
