hello! Vocal student for two years now here, and I just want to say that just because a note sounds “lower” than expected, this doesnt automatically mean the artist is singing it well. You see, using mixed voice (i.e. making the note sound easy and low) comes at a price, and that price is choosing to sing in a lighter timbre at the expense of stronger and more resonant belts. Even though a note sounds like it is stronger and maybe too loud for others, that is exactly the type of sound the context of the song calls for. Take, for example, Wheein’s B4 belt which is very resonant, but still maintaining good support. Even if it sounds “high,” and “hard to reach,” she is making good use of her voice because that belty note fits the context of the song. So again, mixed voice/ easy sounding notes does not always equal perfection. It may mean the singer has good technique, but sometimes it also means that the singer chooses an easier route when in reality, the song requires stronger belts. Thanks for reading ❤️
Belting also uses mixed voice. But there are 3 types of mix: chesty, balanced and heady. In wheein’s case, she used chesty mix so, it sounds more rounded and belty. But wendy used more of a balanced mix. Just cuz a note doesnt sound belty doesnt mean it is not by mixed voice. Just clarifying
@@Taeyeon89 better because its flashier and louder? You got to admire how these notes were already a challenging for other but Wendy just eat them like a pop corn. Maybe not a flashier one but she made it look like its just a lower note. This is not Wendy's range where she shines. She shines at upper range
@@aex2309 Welp it's louder because their B4s have more larger volume output due to their resonance happening a lot there. It was really opened and relaxed that's why it's better. Also Wendy's B4s sounds lower because she uses more lighter approach and her B4 was just supported not resonant like Yuju and Solar but I respect your opinion,no hard feelings☺️
Out of all these B4 clips, Yuju did the best for me. Very clean support, it was round and opened as well. Solar comes 2nd, but she’s pushing a little bit.
Wendy and the members of Mamamoo really make it seem effortless and you can feel their support in the notes. The other artists sound great too, but it sounds like it takes a bit more effort to hit it.
Actually, the best support, technique and resonance with this note in particular, come from YuJu, Solar, WheeIn and Seunghee (although the best overall vocalist in this video is Wendy). In my opinion, Yuju's one is the most relaxed and opened sound amongst them 🥰
Wendy's b4 sounds just supported to me, but it was a good one. Rose's and Winter's(that was pre-recorded but still I decided to include it) aren't but they were nice anyway.
