We go over Blake's setup for his 2.7T Swapped Audi B7 Avant, featuring an 01E manual swap from automatic, and a single turbo kit with a BorgWarner S257. We cover a lot of the considerations that go into swapping a 2.7T into a B7 chassis. We also go about installing the transmission to the motor and drop it into the chassis.

I had this engine and supporting parts in my garage for 0ver 7 years waiting to install in a B6 and could never find the time. Finally got my hands on a manual B7 Avant last week and now have to read over a lot of information since I changed cars. You video pointed out most of the questions I would have had about installing in a B7 chassis. Thank you very much for the upload.

Following your build. I’m in the process of installing a Stg 3 BW K04 motor in my b6 Avant. I’m also doing an auto to manual swap but using an 01X transmission out of a 2.0T B7 for highway cruising. I have a ringer racing clutch and the 27swap board. I got a steal on the motor a 60k engine with BW turbos, an APR bi pipe and XS power charge tubes for $600 US!

How am i just finding this?? I have a B7 avant 2.0t and have thought about starting a 2.7 swap to build on the side for when the motor decides to go , and the Info and detail yall include is incredible! Thank you will be taking notes on how I will go about my eventual swap!

Pro tip. I use this on my 1.8t builds as well as my stg 3 2.7tt. You can use a LUK repset B7 RS4 clutch and pressure plate with a 240mm ECS RA4 smfw, literally all you have to do is pull the 3 locating dowels that are 8 mm (6mm maybe? Been a second) ream them out and put in the larger 10mm locating pins, then shim the pressure plate out 2mm. Bam. Solid ass clutch that takes serious abuse for cheap. (Easier on the 2.7tt since it's already got a 240mm flywheel

I've had many B5s, 1.8ts and 2.7tts (currently a gorgeous black B5 avant s4 eith platinum white recaros with SRM k04s @27psi, 2 1.8ts, I've had one the 'frankenB5' for years. Ie rifle drilled rods, I've ran so many different builds on it I'm never going to let it go. Motor is on a stand because I had a custom hybrid holset hx35/hx40 super made up and straight sheared my crank pulley off the crankshaft. I had even double pinned it🤣 the b7 rs4 clutch is a great option for BAT 1.8t builds or solid 2.7tt builds with just 10 minutes of extra work and a set of calipers. Also have a noggy/noggy b6 s4 I've tuned up. I LOVE to see people still working with these platforms. I have a local buddy who had a noggy B6 S4 that blew his 4.2 and threw a STK 2.7t in it. When my 2.7tt SRM k04s blow I'm going STK. Just so much easier to work on. I love what you guys are doing. All are great builds/swaps. Definitely going to subscribe. I didn't catch but are you still going to be running ME7 oem ecus or standalone? A local buddy of mine has dang near finished programming VVT turbo control using an oem ME7.5 ecu. Super cool BIIIG variable vane turbo- goal being quick(er) spool and stupid power

My B7 avant also started life as an auto before I 2.7t swapped it. Wished I knew about being able to use the auto transmission mounting point. I ended up using a 2.0t transmission and had to cut up my downpipes to make them work.

I hear you, I just started my journey after doing alot of research. Picked up a 2.7l engine and transmission on a trade, had a spun bearing so im sourcing a new crank and going to be Taking it to the machine shop sometime in the next couple of weeks. Its going to be an ongoing project through the winter just building the engine and getting it ready for spring so I can workout the bugs over summer and button it up real nice. Plan in doing some ice racing up in Wisconsin on lake winnebago. Can't wait to see some more progress! Keep at it!🤘

Would like your opinion! Great video guys. Just what i needed to see today. I just got an 05 a4 Quattro 3.2 on a trade for a car i was going to junk. The exterior and interior are flawless. The engine sounds healthy but has valve cover oil leak, but that should be an easy fix. Didnt drive it too much because of expired tags but i did notice some trans problems. It seems to slip a bit. Got a cel code p0732 gear 2 incorrect ratio. Now most of my experience has been with hondas where most trans problems can be solved with a trans fluid flush. Ive done my share of engine rebuilds but have never even considered opening up a transmission (especially not a german automatic). Was looking online for as much information on the hhm trans that the car has and found that information is scarce. After looking at my options, I Was thinking of doing a trans oil flush to see if that would solve the problem but seems like a $250 gamble but would probably be the best case scenario. Second option is im a real junkyard dog! I wouldnt mind pulling and swapping junkyard trans all week till i find a good one! And if i cant find a good one then maybe i can rebuild with junkyard parts? My last options would be some sort of a swap, which is how i came across this video. Was looking for a manual conversion for the 3.2 on a b7 and then this video came up after much scrolling. Like i said information on a4 b7 options has been hard to find. Any advice you can give me or if you can point me in the right direction would be appreciated. I would like to keep the 3.2 engine in for now(seems like its in great shape), but would like a manual trans swap or advice on maybe fixing or rebuilding the HHM Transmission (if its even worth it). Look forward to seeing more content!

Our experience with the automatics in these is pretty much that once you have an issue, no amount of fluid flushing or additives or cleaners will make any difference to the issue. So your options are to pull junkyard transmissions and swap them in until you get something that works, or have it rebuilt. If it was us... the safe bet would be to manual swap it. If the car has a black interior in good shape and a good condition body, the cost/effort of the manual swap will more than pay for itself when you turn around to sell the car as good condition manual cars are worth significantly more to enthusiasts. You can use an 02X transmission out of 04-08 B6/B7 with 3.0/3.2, or you can use an 01E out of 02-03 B6 3.0, if you're a junkyard guy your best bet is to find one of those in the yard and just pull the trans/spacer, driveshaft, rear diff, pedals, and just swap that all in. It's not a small job but it's fun and you know that if the flywheel/pressure plate/disk are all in spec, all your work will pay off unlike getting an auto from the junkyard at which point it's a coin-toss whether it will work or not after you've gone to all the work of swapping, filling fluid, etc etc and you may have to pull it right back out again and start over.

Im sure i will have many questions along the way but i will be documenting and posting on the forums. But for now i just have 1 more question. Is there a difference between the 02X and audi GYY trans ID?

For the guy with the Ko4 turbos on a stock block it can take all the boost those k04s have to offer if your fueling and clutch is up to par the stock engine block can easily take 550 awhp no issues rods are for the big twin and big single set ups

Great videos, I had been watch them few more times, as I thinking pull the 3.0 AVK which I had never done it before. From the video looks like you guys pulled the transmission together. I had did the timing belt, radiator, axels, S4 front brakes, and bunch of stuff throughout the years, I think I am comfortable doing engine pull. But I am hoping to get some advice see if there is anything I need to pay extra attention to it. Thanks!

Honestly, just take your time, and if you are pulling too hard, its probably because something is connected still. There is a good Audi 2.7 S4 motor pull that should give you a good indication of what you're up against. There are a couple different ways to do it, and its really dependant on your garage set up as well. Let us know if you have any questions, and good luck!

I own a 2003 Audi A6 C5 2.7T with the BEL engine, featuring valve covers equipped with pop-out coil packs. I'm considering replacing these with bolt-down valve covers, typically associated with the APB engine. Can I interchange these valve covers between the BEL and APB engines?

Sure its been covered previously, but it is also a challenge between three buddies abilities to see who can make a faster 2.7. Rods will give the ability to go bigger turbo later without having to open up the bottom end again, but to each their own.

Hi . Nice work . I have a B7 non turbo front wheel drive. Will the 2.7t bolt onto my stock transmission and do i need to change the ECU . Thanks

It will bolt up to your transmission, you keep the 2.7 ecu and harness, and then need to splice the harness to body controls. There are some detailed threads out there, but its not straight forward swap.

Running the same turbo on my stk swap! AGP turbo makes a hot side that bolts right up to the kit with a v band inlet and outlet. If you need more info lmk I’ll find the link

Plan is to keep the factory harness intact for initial start ups/testing. Then I will be deleting a few sensors(after run coolant, 02 sensors, EGTs, ICM, N249). Once it is running error free, I'll rebuild the harness. I never thought that aspect would gather much interest, so I have not put any effort into making a video for it.

Yes, but you need to pick up the 3.2 rad carrier, radiator, and some other bits and brackets.

Yes it will. You just need to sort out your flywheel. clutch and PP combo and use the 2.7 starter

01E is the factory 6 spd with a 2.7T and has the VSS. OA3 or 02X don’t have VSS but you can just tap into the speed signal from the ABS module.

@BarrioHoncho the 01E out of B5S4 and C5A6 uses two side mounts so it bolts right up to B6/B7 auto subframe. The B6A4 01E has a different type of mount and uses B6/B7 manual subframe with a cast aluminum trans mount.

It you cut one side to get the she working your doing it wrong .I built a drive a b7s4 full manual swap and fully built 2.7t tubular custom manifolds well everything is fabricated .but she works along with everything does with coding

Hey the damage is already done... its been tested and sucessfully completed before i knew you could simply recode it all. Ideally that would be the way to go and would save a ton of work, but what is done is done now!

I couldnt remember if they are both driver side or passenger side covers, since the OEM oil cap neck is huge, so I went with two valve covers from the side without the oil cap, so i could weld in a universal/smaller cap.

I mean it does bolt right in though. If he wasn’t doing this single turbo kit, people swap these things in over a case of beer and a weekend. Don’t have to make custom motor mounts or anything.

Excellent choice 😉 Even just a stage 1 tune or stage 2 makes the 2.7 really fly. After the last dyno session and seeing Braydon’s stage 2 2.7 make 280hp and 350 ftlb at the wheels, it makes me want a 2.7 in my B6 Avant!

the 4/1 diff mod makes your dynamic torque split higher in the back, static remains the same. that means the car behaves 50:50 in normal driving and more like a rwd car when tyres loose grip
