I was thinking the original power plants had the same thurst rating at 21,000 lbs. I was thinking this engine had the protential to sqeeze out more like 27k lbs of trust. As a matter of fact I don't know if you knew this, but Sabb actualy did use a JT8 for one of there high performance jets.

The JT8D-200 Series is a low bypass turbofan, but it's not super noisy like the original JT8D engine. For example, the original is more noisy and burns more fuel, while the JT8D-200 (the newer version), burns less fuel, due to its higher bypass ratio.
