Thank you very much for your video! I have ordered the same filter for my ZenithStar 81mm. You explained everything wonderfully, and showed me everything that I needed to know about this filter before getting it! I will off coarse consult their manual before doing anything with the filter!
@@starastronomer It convinced me to stick with the Baader solar film for now instead of spending $600 for a Baader Herschel wedge and polarizer! I think I will stick with the Velcro safety straps for now though as I don't trust rubber bands.
Excellent video! Clear, concise, informative - and loved the additional tips on avoiding use of velcro 'stickies' on telescope tube (Ugh!), as well as the recommendation for the Pelican 1200 case. Thanks for taking the time to do this!
This is a high quality American made telescope. To compliment this scope I would use a high quality American made solar filter. I would not put a foreign made inferior product such as in this video on this telescope.
Even though replacing the rubber bands every session is smart, I still wouldn’t use them for this application. Be careful with your eyes, it only takes one defective piece to ruin your eyesight.
@JoshuaYoung2 QUESTIONS: 1---Do you know the reason for those elongated washers??? 2---Did you note what I clearly said in the video??? 3---Are these elongated washers doing their job??? 4---Did you hear my disclaimer in the video??? IT DOESN'T MATTER IF ON THE TOP OR BOTTOM AS I SEE IT. But definitely follow the Baader directions. It is imperative that you understand how something operates and make sure in the end you get the EXACT same outcome. You can add 3 + 5 OR 5 + 3 with the EXACT same outcome. Clear skies. (BTW - I am very mechanically inclined and understand how things go together.)
