SR, we definitely share your frustration. Jon has called in dozens of times, but I can only recall one call that was even remotely productive. And, naturally, that didn’t last long-he called back the very next week with the same nonsense. AXP is really built on two straightforward questions: 1) What do you believe? and 2) Why do you believe it? Jon hasn’t even come close to answering question #2. Not once.

Babies with cancer, children born with Progeria (also known as Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome, they're lucky if they can make it to 18 years old while some don't even manage to live till 12 years old) because only a perfect design by a perfect god would result in infants with cancer, Osteogenesis imperfecta (glass bones) or Progeria. Because god loves these children just that much.

I keep hearing about "intelligent design" in reference to beings that are not designed very well. I could design a being much better by starting with an immune system that doesn't shut down under stress. Then, I would make sure my being produced no internal waste to be disposed of. And that's just the start. Can anyone add to this?

I was born with 3 holes between my right and left Atrium in my heart, I was also born with my two feet facing each other and had to wear leg braces for my first 2 years, I was also born with meningitis and was help in the hospital for the first week of life only to end up back in the hospital a week later. I am so glad that god had perfectly designed me.

Jon - seriously? Not going to make comments already presented during the interaction or in the brilliant comments below. Something funny. My niece and her husband decided they wanted four children. They waited until they were stable in their careers, financially sound, had purchased their home, and were ready. When my first grandnephew was born, if he farted, they found it akin to a Beethoven symphony. By their fourth, they were saying "it's lucky parents find babies adorable". All four grew up to be wonderful adults, and thankfully they weren't left out on a hillside like the Spartan practice.

Explain anencephaly and acalvaria then, Jon. Those are birth defects that include a fetus coming to full term without in the first case a brain developing in the slightest, or in the latter, without developing the skull bones that encase the brain.

All birds are born to fly. Oh except the non flying birds. And except any bird that doesn't normally fly. Oh and except birds born without physical, mental, abilities to fly. Except very young birds who basically drop out of the nest! Actually there's lots of exceptions. Anyway isn't it wonderful how they are superior to people in the ability to fly. The comments are more insightful than the moderators. Focusing on children that cannot love Is only the tiniest portion of imperfection. At least 20% or more of all pregnancies end in a miscarriage because the baby not viable.

Both of my kids where born premature and almost killed my gf and almost died themselves not perfect design or proof of god. Also my brothers gf did die giving birth they brought her back but she did die.

Design proponents, like other creationists, are unable to provide "evidence" for design that isn't ultimately either a god of the gaps argument ("it's origin is unknown therefore must be designed") or a circular self contradiction ("if we compare known design with known nondesign then everything is design including the nondesign"). They also seem to add that it's perfect despite obviously being imperfect, or intelligent despite looking stupid.
