If you feel like supporting the channel and feeding my addiction: / spartanjohns As for this video: Filmed on 2022-12-12. This was so far the most surprising Civivi knife i have bought.
These really are a nice budget friendly option for people who live in very strict knife law areas. I miss seeing your videos out in the woods, are you going to be going back to that setting any time soon?
I miss spending time in the woods, bushcrafting and just watching leaves fall... I don't think I'll make it out for bushcrafting purposes for the next 2 months at least. I still go outdoors but it is mainly hiking or on walks with my dog.
All the banters look like fine working tools, but their design is just too (intentionally, I know) dull for me. I got a TRM nerd, which I like in theory, but I never actually use it, it's just too small. My Spyderco Techno 2 is my favourite small knife, but of course also much more expensive. Thanks for the video!
The Techno 2 is in a different class. Better materials and yes, a more expensive package. I have only held one Techno in hand. That one had a pretty thick grind. It was probably the Techno 1 since it was about 2016 and the Techno 2 came out 2018 i think. The idea of carrying and using a small knife can be more appealing than actually carrying and using it. The Baby Banter feels really good in hand. I was a bit shocked. And it does have a thin grind. I reduced the edge angle to about 15 dps and the thickness behind that edge is about .4 mm. which is good. Because you said it now I do see how dull the design is...I never really thought about that. I don't mind at all...and whenever something is simple and dull...but works...i tend to gravitate towards it.
I have been playing around with it quite a lot. I like it. I removed the thumb stud and the pocket clip. carrying the knife like that and using it to cut was really nice. But for convenience i put them back on. I never had/held the Banter or the big banter. I am curious about the big banter...wanted to buy it but it was quickly out of stock. I think it was better this way....i'll wait a while and maybe i'll find one used for a better price
