I love how virtually all animals can tell when another being, regardless of species, is just a baby and treats them accordingly. I had a dog when I was a kid who had so much energy and played so rough with the cat or other dogs. But then my Aunt brought her new baby over one day and our dog was immediately just so gentle with her
Babies have 'Signs' of infanthood that are understood across species, eg. Big head, small limbs, childish behaviour, undeveloped sounds, etc. That gives clue that the being is still unharmful, and needs to be guarded
I have a 75ib dog that is super hyper at times and unaware of her strength and size. But when my little niece comes over, she just immediately sits down and waits for her to play with her
I have a one month old German Shepherd/Belgian mix puppy and my 3 cats (who I've had for 3 years) ran away from him and never let him get close to them. But if they didn't know he was in their area, then they'd start growling at him and run away.....Despite the fact that the puppy only wants to play with them. In short, not all animals can tell if another animal is a baby, let alone treat them accordingly 😅
@@MilkyWayMarsBarOo yeah, that also happens especially if other species baby is larger sized or its features are more stronger than your own species, now in nature dogs are generally bigger than a common cat , so a puppy of bigger dog like german shepherd maybe perceived as stronger threat by cats Also, it is understandable an elephant baby will still be seem as giant by a cat, whereas vice versa a dog wipp be scared of lion cub, a cat is scared of lynx, cos lynx is wild
I had a nanny goat who was fascinated by a little baby boy. I don't think she'd ever seen a "beebee hooman be'in" before, but she was SO gentle with him. Yeah, I think a lot of animals know a baby, whatever the size or species.
As a child, when we had our first ever batch of baby goats we thought it was fun to get down on our hands and knees and headbutt with them. Months later we learned that this had been a mistake, because every now and then a now full-sized goat would revert to the "Headbutt the Humans Game" and someone would end up on their ass! After that first batch, the kids just got to headbutt each other. Still fun to watch!
Cat also knows the other fella is not a cat, so its behavior may mean something completely different. That awareness is unique to cats, among common pets. Back in the late 70s and early 80s a local farmer would give us orphan lamb's to raise. Once they got big enough to get out of a box we didn't need a alarm clock for mornings, the sound of the hoofs on wood floors is all we needed😊👍🐑🐑🐑.

i had a ram once and when he was a baby i would lighty headbutt him, i did this for 8 years until one day he hit puberty and hit me so hard i got a concusion and stayed in the hospital for 3 days

orenges actually the human body is great! Not only can we digest a huge amount of food, we have adapted to like spicy food (which kills bacteria) can sweat meaning that in theory we can run for longer than any other animal on the planet, and we are the most intelligent by far!
It always amazes me how animals that have completely different ways of playing manage to get on. The goat's trying to head butt the cat and the cat's trying to bite the goat, but they both understand.

This head-butting impulse since birth is simply adorable, I can't think of any other animal with so distinctive primal behavior, bucking of a foal maybe.
This is so funny, baby goats will try to head butt anything or any body, I raised about 40 of the little sweet things. Got headbutted on forehead by 6 month old and had a headache for 2 days. They will also use you as a hill to climb or jump over, when I got on hands and knees with them I had lots of tiny muddy hoof prints on my back. I loved raising them, and hope to do so again. P.S. I have taught 2 of my cats to do soft head bumps when I ask for 'kisses'!
Same! I used to love laying or coughing down and letting them jump on and off of me. So cute, yet so feisty. I don't really like goats much anymore, but they are still cuties.
@Danny Schlongvito It may be a natural response, but my girls never did it until I put my face by theirs and 'taught' them about kisses, which are nose touches and then forehead bumps.

Headbutts mean completely different things to cats and goats. With goats, it's play-fighting, but with cats, it's affection. This cat's probably thinking "I barely know you; why do you like me and why do you have to be mean about it?"

For all the negative comments out there about the push and how I am a selfish person for bringing him in the house for my pleasure.First I would like to say that this baby goat is 1 of 4 babies born of the same mother. I walked into the barn and he was laying half dead on the barn floor. I brought him in the house and luckily after a few hours of holding him and feeding him with only a dropper he made it through the first day. After that he lived in our house for the next several weeks I bottle fed him through the night and I had to keep him in a box next to my bed with my hand in the box other wise he would cry all night. Goats are tough creatures and I would never intentionally do anything to hurt him as I cared very much about him. I did nudge him over because goats grow fast and I wanted to encourage the interaction and keep this memory to look back on, it was just too cute not to record. I was so surprised the cat stuck around and didn't bolt like most cats. I could see my cat was holding back and not getting aggressive so I didn't see it being dangerous. Also it was me, not my husband who pushed him over to the cat. I apologize to those offended by the push, my intentions were not to disrespect or abuse any animals.

Notice how clever the cat is. He never fixes gaze but knows exactly where our little friend is at all times. This is a great skill that I use in many situations. To fix your gaze on someone enlarges their ego, it’s disengagement when dealing with a possible antagonist. But when it’s time to defend, the cat will know exactly when and with great force. Don’t get me wrong, the cat is being motherly and not encouraging her ward, and this is a lesson for us humans. Don’t indulge too much for those in our care, allow them to build their own worth. It’s a parenting lesson and lessons come from nature.
the place next to my work used to have the small goats. i could stick a fist over the fence and they would happily head butt it all day. they were fun to watch and it was amazing how intelligent they were.

So cute! Can't help but notice that the kitty appears to be slightly bigger. Puts things in perspective-the baby goat is smaller than I imagined it would be. The headbutting and playing around is so adorable.
