I have a 70 year old Bernina, it has just about all the features I need. It runs like a dream after all these years. But it is incredibly heavy and lifting it up on the work table has become a challenge. I am in the market for a Baby Lock now. Abandoning my Bernina is not an option, but the Baby Lock will simply be an addition. Thank you for the insightful tutorial.
My 44 year old kenmore and my 52 year old Elna Both do the overlock and straight up two back one stitch😉 I bought a baby lock a week ago used and put it in the shop. I’m excited to pick it up soon.
Fantastic presentation and great video. I found Baby Lock 10 years ago. My first one I just serviced last week and nothing wrong with it. Just needed the usual cleaning, adjustments and lubed. I also have a 6 year old Baby Lock. Both are sewing/quilting and they don't miss a stitch. and a week old new Baby Lock embroidery machine. I wouldn't trade them for anything else. Thank you for the great video, it just helped reinforce what I know about these great machines.
When I took my friend to my dealer's store this is exactly what I told her when she just wanted the cheapest machine. She ended up buying a Jubilant and has been happy with it ever since
I started sewing as a single dad with custody after a divorce. I have the Baby Lock Crafters Choice that I bought in 1980. Still have it and it works like new. I make quilts, I repair clothes and make things I need for the various activities I'm involved with.
I haven't sewn in over 30 years, and was a real amateur even then. My local sewing shop recommended Baby Lock, and I had never even heard of them. I came home with a Jubilant, and am so excited to re-learn everything and grow from there. I plan on watching a lot of your videos - thank you so much for making this available.
I have 3 Baby Locks, one is class size, Aria for quilting and so much more and my Ovation Serger. Totally love all these machines and their capabilities. I gave away my Singers and another brand to people who needed them and would use them. Thank you so much for your video I learned a lot from you after all these years.
You hit the most important things needed on a sewing machine perfectly. The rest is icing on the cake. Many people think they need all the bells and whistles, but really, they don't. It all depends on what they are interested in doing. Thank you for pointing out that whole the big box stores may have tge big brand names, they are inferior quality. They are made specifically to be sold cheaply & are lesser quality.
thank you for explaining the features - my old machine is on its last leg and I need another one I was looking at the Zeal but I think that I like the Jubilant better- your demo helped me to make the decision.
I have watched your videos over and over - I just think out of all i have watched yours is so absoutely without a doubt, the best. I am planning to buy a baby lock jubilent soon from a dealer but closed one is about hour and a half away.
The Baby lock Joy can do button holes. It's a four step button hole instead of one step. Also there is a needle threader on the baby lock Joy! However thank you for all that useful information no one tells you!

Hello, Reason is simple. because of how the Web works. Most of those "top Lists" are thinly veiled ads, trying to direct you to Amazon / Etc to go buy, ( then the "List maker" makes their $ 4 commission,) that's all they really care about. ERGO.. If you cannot buy on AMAZON, (Like Babylock), no one bothers to try and sell to you, ( sorry for the "straight Talk", there are a lot of Good hearted people out there - But 90% of the top sites that pop up web are just about Money)
@@kitemed5194 No, Brother doesn't make Babylock. I think some are made in the same factory as the Brother (in Japan) but specs and designs are by entirely drawn up by and supplied by different companies. Babylock just sends their supplies and specs to the same company that produces Brother 's machines.
When you talk about going down one step, going down another step in machines, it would help if you gave the names of the machines. Looks like the Jubilant is a winner, though. If it's still really around $500, I might just spring for it. Right now I'm having a hard time getting my Brother 6000i to go thru FOUR layers of cotton. Can't imagine anything getting thru 42 layers!!
Hi Jan, thank you for your informative video on the Jubilant babylock sewing machine. One question: I love all the features of this machine, but I did want one that I can replenish the thread in the bottom not the top of the machine. I too I'm older and can't see to thread anything. With the top spindle to rewind the bobbin you have to thread it, correct? My old Singer machine has a drop in bobbin and it is really easy to get the bobbin to upload. Looking forward to your answer. My Baby lock jubilant keeps bunching the thread up in the back. Why is it doing that? Please help. The machine stops and give the error message at this point...😰😭

Bleu Drea, this is a baby lock commercial, she did say if you buy a machine from her classes are included and that’s true of most dealers, they want you to be able to use the machine and possibly be a repeat customer.
i have an opportunity to buy a babylock symphony...researched till i am blue..price asking is $700...wife died..i have an old bernina mechanical machine and would like to get a computer based machine. trying to determine the value for me..any helps? was not looking for private sale, but this came my way..would ordinarily go to a dealer, but this machine seems very, very nice.
Hi Jan, I have been looking for a new machine for a long time now but wasn’t sure what to buy, then I started watching you. I love your video’s you explain everything so clearly, and I really like the baby Lock machines. Unfortunately I have been trawling the internet for weeks. I emailed a gentleman at babylock.co.uk, he told me they can’t get the sewing machines in the uk only the overlockers/sergers. What the did tell me was that Baby Lock are made by Brother. She knows her stuff, but the presentation is a little muddled! How many cruial elements were there in the end? She started with five or six and kept adding.
I agree, very knowledgeable, and often her wording doesn't make sense. I still got the points she was trying to make though, and I do appreciate these videos.
I think the jazz II is a mechanical machine-no electronics but it does have a number of different stitches and can do buttonholes. (I’ve been looking at that machine 🙃)
@@terriluginbyhl161 I ment to ask if there was an electronical machine like the Jazz 2. 🤭 I got the Jazz 2!! So far I like it, but I haven't master the free motion yet. Its pretty on the top but ugly on the bottom. It did take a few tries to thread it the first time.
I’ve been researching baby lock for 2 weeks.It would have been nice if you would’ve shown what the other two models were. I want to learn how to sew, therefore knowing what the other two were would have helped. I’m definitely not ready for anything computerized🙃
Jean B. the other models are the Zeal, Joy and Zest. I have owned the Zeal and I think it is a great machine for a beginner who does not want an electronic machine but has enough features/stitches that you won't outgrow it quickly. Good luck!
@@sewitonline Can't find a dealer where I live in Central FL that has any reasonably priced Babylocks in stock (:. Particularly the genuine collections. I was researching Babylock in late December early January before covid. I even visited a dealer. However I couldn't determine what I needed at the time. Now I know that it's either a Jubilant or Brilliant. The Jubilant can probably do everything I need it to do, but I prefer the aesthetics of the Brilliant. Still, it's out of stock everywhere near me and I don't want to research other machines at the point. I do hope they come back in stock soon!
