An ordinary degree in Scotland is a degree but is one year less than an honours degree and is ungraded. Only the honours year is graded. Not sure if they even offer these anymore. So on that point she was right
I think Gadd exaggerated and invented a lot of what was portrayed in Baby Reindeer. The original show was only as successful as it was bc he sold it as a true story. I bet he couldn’t believe his luck when Netflix came knocking. Real life Martha might be a bit odd but that doesn’t make her guilty. I’ve seen Gadd’s interviews and he looks like the cat that got the cream. I’m not buying it.
I actually think he's just as narcissistic is she is I think having created Martha so accurately knowing her character just opens it all up again. If she didn't go to prison for it then that is defamation right there. Emails etc aside. However if she does sue for defamation then she may find herself in hot water if she hasn't been convicted if it comes out that she sent all the emails. But she could serve a short sentence and be super rich so maybe it's a chance she'll take
My Mrs confirmed that she wouldn’t necessarily have a ‘grade’ aside from pass. She knows her stuff and we’ve seen baby reindeer. But why didn’t she just say ‘it isn’t something that’s graded based on the degree I got’. Instead she skirts around it which says to me she didn’t even get a degree in law and dropped out or something similar. She’s a professional liar
I think both of them have mental health issues, it shouldn’t have been portrayed as 100% real life when it appears fictional now, I don’t believe everything she said but don’t believe him either I would love piers to interview him see what he’s got to say for himself now
She mucked up. She says multiple times that Martha must not be about her. Thus, can’t be defamation. Also, early in the interview she says they were friends and that was the reason for their banter, then says they weren’t friends.
I found it interesting that she confirmed tweeting about his butt and having sexual innuendo jokes and that he asked to have sex with her, but she also says twice that he’s homosexual. And she says it with destain, not like she was joking with him and having banter with him because she knew he was gay. There was no need or reasoning for her to react with any declaration of his sexuality if they barely knew each other and he did not explicitly declare it himself. It sounded more like she was using an accusation of being gay as an insult because he did not react favorable about her advances. He didn’t deny making the curtains joke. He clearly has regrets, that makes more sense that he would be telling the truth even if it puts him in a somewhat negative light than that he would be totally lying about her because she’s perfect and did nothing.

Gadd already implied in previous interviews that the real Martha didn't go jail so that part was fiction but I think most of the other stuff did happened. You can tell in the interview she was lying when she said she didn't send the those emails. And she kept contradicting herself
I have to say I think she's going to be found out to be lying.... its very hard not to worry about what she could be capable of when looking at how she reacted to some of the questions.... she was more like the character than I thought possible... 😮😮 wonder where else this is going to go ...
See. I love the fact that until she decided to come forward, No one knew who she was and the more I Saw her speak the more I believed that the Martha character was exactly as she was. She says she has a photographic memory, But then can't remember her grades haha. Totally believe she was as ducked up as the show
You haven't noticed the fact that the worst character in it is actually him. A failing comedian, coke addiction, his perception of all women is way off normal. Every female character also does something wrong to him. The pub is a drug den. It really is a reflection of himself. He might actually be the only "True story" of the show.
That’s not true. They found her Twitter and Facebook accounts. She was basically outed, she had no choice but to come forward and comment on the situation.
I watched the interview with Piers tonight by accident. I had not heard of this case, nor did I see the Netflix show so everything was new to me but found myself riveted by the story. She did not appear credible to me but she made me feel incredibly sad. She may herself believe what she was saying and may not realize the havoc she caused. I agree that it should be provable if she did indeed send 41,000 emails which is over the top no matter which way you look at it. A sad story.
I'm not so sure about the degree thing. I have a psyche degree but I have no idea what my grade was. It was passable because I qualified overall, but you don't actually get a mark for your degree. Every paper is done seperately and marked for every semester, so the grades are kind of all over the show
and her mother didn't know much about it or that she was going on Piers show..? it was the 4/5 different phones that got me too...? who actually has that many phones...!!!!
If Gadd only met her 6 times as she claims he did a miraculous characterisation of her. Thing is she won't recognise her behaviour from that time as stalking. They definitely had a long term interaction imo The Netflix have a caveat that for legal reasons it's 100% emotionally true
If that was me and somebody wrote something like that about me and I knew it was untrue the last thing I would do is go on a talk show. I would be straight to my solicitors then straight to court and then I would sue💯
I believe Fiona is also an actress and the interview is also part of the show and Piers was also in on it being the sensational cynic he really is. A great way to market the film and get us talking and spending money on Netflix.
In Scotland you can finish after 3rd year with an ordinary degree aka a 3rd or you can go on to an honours year where you would get 1st, 2nd or 3rd, so she's saying she left to go onto practice. So in this small section it's plausible.
I did my GCSE's... But it's been since 2003... I have a photographic memory... But I don't remember my grades... It's not strange at all... Photographic memory doesn't mean you remember everything...

Yep, that’s lots of emails, but, with her obsession, I’d imagine that many of them could simply be one or two sentences. Trying to get a response from him in any way.
I know for sure that many people do use multiple phones and emails. Both women and men having affairs on their spouses do this, as well as abused partners who need a separate phone to call for safety. Many reasons. I find the story fascinating. I myself believed her on Piers's show with the only red flag being that she couldn't remembr her marks after claiiming a photographic memory. But I rationalized that because memory can be departmentalized, (so that someone who can memorize mathematical things might be forgetful about daily events.) But when I heard other people's doubts as to what she said, I started to see how they doubted it, which personally made me look at myself and how I have many times been a poor judge of character and fallen into several liars' traps. So now I don't know what to think of Fiona. I do wish the actual criminal records will be produced or proven not to exist. Moreover, there's another theory available that Piers, media and the Gadd fellow are all in on a giant social experiment on people like me who get dragged into such puzzles! Possibilities are endless.
Can it be stalking if Gadd actively encouraged the contact? I think Gadd has taken the opportunity to use the character of Fiona ( who is most likely not well) for the dramatisation of his play/theatre/Netflix film because she is easy prey and people won’t be sympathetic to her because she is a frumpy but fiesty Scottish woman. Gadd says he gets raped by a guy who is lacing him with drugs and all people seem to be concerned with is the woman with 4 phones and 6 email address who denies sending 100 letters, 41,000 emails and texts. Fiona may have a mental health issues and is doubling down with more lies. So what? How are not Gadd and Netflix not liable for portraying this woman as capable of glassing someone, going to court and admitting guilt for stalking going to jail for it, stalking other people etc. What if she didn’t do these things but Netflix says it is a true story and you need to watch it. They made it easy for people to identify her and now they are sending her death threats. The reality is that Gadd was messing with Fiona as much as she was messing with him and now the world has turned on this woman because they are curious to see and make fun of this train wreck who gets caught lying on Pierce Morgan. It would be less cruel to stone her or pour fuel over her and set her alight. Effectively the collective consensus of most of the RU-vidrs is to ridicule this woman. I think Gadd has a real problem here. As for Netflix they have deep pockets and don’t care. As for Netflix or Gadd’s disclaimers that some things were made up I think it is too little too late. Netflix should have said in its credits “True Story (um no it’s not)” and then no one would have watched it.
We know he is a liar because she didn't serve jail time! Also that number of emails would be basically impossible. If it was true, he would have changed his email or phone number. Never once did he tell her to stop in the story.
First of all why did Richard Gadd make this film about ' Martha when he knew how unstable she was and this is exactly how she would react to ' Baby Reindeer? It's like poking a bear with a stick. Why would a person who was victimised so relentlessly take that risk? Clearly, Fiona Harvey is not well emotionally and mentlally. Stalking is a very disturbing and gruelling thing to be subjected to. But the whole story was not true about prison and I suspect some other lurid details. And 'Martha' was almost an uncanny replica of Fiona Harvey so it's a blatant lie that that they didn't want said character to be recognised. I don’t want to defend anyone. But the show said true story not based on true story. She never went to prison that’s a lie therefore the true story isn’t 100% true. Doesn’t mean she’s innocent just that she has a point at defemation.
How the hell did she even get that job in the first place tho to work in law and parliament you have to a intelligent person with law degrees .it's funny how she did not no her degree she had no clue of the factual numbers but it was the 80s it might not of been as keen back then
Allegedly sent, mate, you haven't seen any proof she actually did that. He wouldn't be first failed actor with a personality disorder, you know.
