1st July 2013 'Nancy' the White Rhinoceros with new born calf. ( only six hours old )
Cotswold Wildlife Park , Oxfordshire , England.
The calf has now been named " Astrid "

Update:
Astrid was moved to Colchester Zoo, Essex on 13th July 2016
Further Update: 14th October 2020.. Astrid gave birth to a son .. congrats to her and the team at Colchester Zoo

Seeing the perfect manicure the rhino is giving the grass makes me think white rhinos would make excellent cricket pitch groundsmen, a mower and a heavy roller in one.

What a precious baby rhino! No wonder the little darling finally collapsed from exhaustion trying to get around on those BIG floppy feet that look like he’s wearing mommy’s oversized bedroom slippers! I wish we could see an updated video of him to see how big he is now!- And if he’s grown into his feet!!

I wish they had grass to eat that is longer than half an inch. I'm afraid there is not enough land for proper grazing of all their animals. This mother and baby are so beautiful.

Take a look at conditions in Australia at the moment! When there is insufficient feed, they buy fodder and truck it in. (Not getting into the economics of this!).

@@pattywangu2650 yeah so they return them and to get slaughtered to almost extinction for their horns? this wildlife park houses forty species which is involved in endangered species programmes including the Rhino, they're trying to preserve them.

A few peeps have asked... It's the afterbirth... Nancy had given birth to Astrid approx. 6 hours before. You'll see it finally fall out at 1:50

The afterbirth is the sack that the baby grew in before birth. When the calf was born that is whats left after the birth the "afterbirth".

This is not right. Rhinos are tropical animals. They cannot live in the frigid climate of Britain. Those rhinos would probably die of exposure before long .
