Wow thank you so much! I’ve been trying to get into this thing for months. That silver screw under the top cap is so tight. I had to use pliers to get it turn but got there in the end. When put back together and first using it again, it was still rotating slowly. I carried on using it anyway and it started to speed up and is now working as normal. Yay so happy, thank you
Thanks István, you just saved me £45 and the planet some unnecessary electronic waste. Top screw was exceptionally stiff but your video gave me the confidence to persevere.
Follow on to my earlier comment and some tips: 1. The little screw caps have small flanges which sit into slots, you have to experiment with where to prise them off. By pressing down around the edges I got them to lift up a little on one side, creating a gap to prise them off. 2. The end cap - I used a thin flat knife and eased it up a little at a time all around the edge. After that it was straightforward. I’d post a photo of all the hair that was trapped inside but it was so gross, I’ll spare you that. How the brush hadn’t caught fire is a mystery. Babyliss should make these more accessible for home cleaning! Many thanks to the original video creator.
Thanks for these excellent tips! My hubby has fixed mine today as the brush had failed to rotate. I was about to order a new one from Amazon and read the reviews, and the advice given on one review was to refer to RU-vid. Saved about 50quid! Really chuffed.
Mine only spinning one way! Your instructions are very clear. I was about to buy a new one but thought I’d look on UTube first. It was a struggle for me to get the thing apart due to not having enough strength however I persevered, cleared out hair and hey presto it’s working! Thanks very much saved me £45.
I just bought a new dryer - not as good as the babyliss which kept getting stuck. Thanks to this video I have now fixed it (still not managed to fix the last tiny screw cap but hey ho it works!) wish I had come here first!
Just read someone else had same problem I just asked with the moulded plastic over the screws. But going to give it s go it breaks it breaks I tried ah. Thx for video so helpful 👍
Excellent, clear video - thanks for posting it! I think the end cap might come off with twisting, but levering it off with a screwdriver is probably easier. Getting the hair off the end of the spindle has fixed the problem. There wasn’t very much, but it was enough to slow it down.
If only the other cap would come off so easily lol, if the screw cap is this hard and the top is harder to remove- I’m in trouble. The screwdriver is only scratching mine up
When you manage to remove the 2 small caps that cover 2 screws you can remove the brush head but on ours the square drive from motor was turning slowly, to remove the end that the brush fits over requires two screwdrivers. I then prised off the long section which fits around switch down to cable and then bottom end cap. At this point you will be lucky if you haven't snapped something but it does expose the motors, circuit board, capacitors and resistors unless you can fault find that throw it in the bin.
Awkward.. get a small flat screwdriver (like you would use for a plug) and push it in firmly to the gap at the top until you feel it slip in, then lever out the screws. If it does not go far enough down you will end up hacking at the plastic.
Thanks for posting. What a hassle to take off the 2 side plastic circular tabs. Good video but fruitless in my case. As you take off the upper assembly, have a look at the bottom part where the push trigger is. do this before going further as it will save you time. If the metal spindle spins slowly, then the issue is likely between the motor and the spindle that moves the brush and not tangled hair slowing the brush. The wife will not be happy I did not fix it and likely I will get the blame for a broken appliance.
Thank you! This seems to have done the trick. But wow, the pieces are so difficult to pull apart. I cracked the end cap. Oops! Doesn't seem to effect the way it works anyway.
Solution to slow turning square metal drive bit inside… bought a unit that looked like new off eBay - tried dismantling like video but noticed inside was turning slowly too. Holding down the left or right turn switch and flicked the on off button literally 100 times. After about 50 flicks it started turning slightly faster and there was a slight electrical smell, must have been something on the switch. Another 50 times and it suddenly went to full speed. Seems to be working ok since
Thank you for the video for repairing the slow turning dryer brush. I got it all apart and cleaned it, but now that I have it back together the toggle buttons for rotating the brush won't push. Any ideas on how to fix this new problem?
This wasn't the problem with the one I tried to fix. I disassembled and tested every component and found the fault to be with the motor that drives the rotating brush. It's a sealed motor so it's not possible fix it. I searched but couldn't find a motor with the same specs for sale (the motor model is 130SH R141212). So Big Hair is no more. Babyliss must have used a bad batch of motors because a lot of people seem to have this problem.
I found that the motor was very weak and pressing the buttons wouldn't always make the brush rotate. I think it had possibly been left too long with hair clogged up in it and the motor probably burnt out over time and is now basically dead.
Hi mine has fixed moulded plastic over the screws On outside. Can they be removed without breaking it do you think. I feel Babyliss got wise to people able to fix the problem not buying another, so they fixed it so we can’t fix it 🤦♀️
Super easy to follow instructions thank you, however I have just done this as my brush only spins slowly but it didn’t fix it 😭 any other ideas? Thanks x
How on earth do you get the little circular discs off so easily?? The top came off with no trouble but cannot budge the screw covers. What’s the secret please?
I got it all apart and used clipper oil into the hand held part that spins because my problem isn't in the brush but the rotation in the handle goes fast then slows down. The oil helped but there is something going on and I can't get the rest apart.
What you need to realise it has 2 speeds not 1 when you clean it or if it's rotation is slow check that swith is pushed forward fully it has cold then hot then slow spin then fast spin 😉 😜
The top screw is so difficult to remove It snapped off, i did what any man would do and hit it with a hammer and it now rests at the bottom of the garden wrapped around a tree ! 😡😡
