Thanks for this reaction, glad you enjoyed it. Your pronounciation wasn't bad at all, actually surprisingly good. Babymetal performed at Budokan, in Tokyo first time in 2014. They were 14, 14 and 16 years old and set the record of youngest female group. I don't know if they still have it. But the venue was first used for concerts by the Beatles in 1966. It's actually a martial arts venue build for the Olympics and still used for that. 4:57 "They aren't little girls anymore, are they ?" They are little ladies now, Su-metal is the tallest at 5"2 / 160 cm. This performance in 2021 was part of a set of 10 shows in sets of 2 over 4 months, to celebrate their 10th aniversery. Yes, it was during the pandemic and team Babymetal and fans were worried they couldn't perform all of them, etc. Their were very strict rules in place, they had a lot less audience, spread out, so fans aren't sitting close together. The tickets were more expensive beause of it, I think. Also you were not allowed to shout, all the audience you hear should be recordings of audiences from previous shows. And not the audience at the show. Which is also why they choose the use of a wave. They also wore 2 masks, a regular mask and a 'Babymetal saviour mask'. Babymetal was able to perform between any even stricter lock downs, surpringly/luckily and turns out also not be the cause of spreading. And no audience from outside of the country was at these shows, because Japan was locked down, no tourists, residents those coming back from outside of the country had to stay in quarantine hotels for over 2 weeks, locked in a hotel room. 7:01 "Sore" is similar to the English 'heave-ho' a word used in traditional Japanese 'festivals', which are like parades or precesions, often used when carrying a large religions statue, etc. down the street with many bearers. Babymetal, because of their international success know English, in Japan everyone has a couple of years of English in school, but Japan isn't great at teaching it, it's a hard language to learn from Japanese, it's very different. For examples languages like English and Spanisch or French are much closer and easier to learn when you know 1 of them. So what Babymetal is kind of doing is: showing the audience Babymetal is similar to an international band coming to Japan, who would also use simple English words to speak to the audience. Babymetal even has songs with a lot of English. Singing in an other language is very different from speaking it, especially if you are still learning. So you end up almost learning it twice. You really should go see Babymetal live though, they are very good. But be certain to take some hearing protection, they are a metal band and are loud. You won't be the only grandparent, actually we see all the generations at a Babymetal show, from little kids to old Rock and Rollers in their 70s (rarely higher). But you might want to a seated location or stay in the right or left side of the venue, in the front and middle is where a lot of commotion happens in a metal and Babymetal show.

Some notes on this show. It was done during the pandemic and several strict restrictions were placed on live events. So the crowd is only 1/2 of what it would normally be. That venue normally holds around 14,000. Also due to the venue's shape (round) you don't get to see the full stagecraft the BABYMETAL team often display in their other shows.

_Sore!_ 🦊🤘🔥 Nice to see you with this suggestion, arriving to another BM classic and beloved song, this time with a song from eponymous 1st album, and is so beloved by fans they play this in almost every concert like yesterday at Leeds in the UK. This was released in 2013 when having around 13/14 and 15 yo, so is one of their early hits and is full of japanese elements, like the _shamizen_ a japanese traditional instrument, and is a party festival song (matsuri). "Sore" "seiya" and "soya" are typical shouts among Japanese festival and it works like a "c'mon!" or "let's go" for them. During the breakdown you can hear another typical japanese folk song called "Sakura Sakura" and they're doing a traditional Japanese dance. Good thing you can see the lyrics on this, and gj with the pronunciation. Song is about female empowerment and if you follow the lyrics you'll see about it, "Megitsune" means female vixens, and they talk about women acting with a smile in their face while crying inside, just to fit in society or what is expected from them, when they're kind to you, they're not trying to make falling in love with them, they're just being their own way, and men tend to confuse and think they're cheating or deceiving. Japanese friends told that "megitsune" used to be a peyorative term in Japanese culture but BM is using this as a way to empower women despite the meaning itself. When SuMetal (the lead singer) is throwing a kick she's saying _"maidens shouldn't be uderstimated",_ that refers to a japanese mob film about some boss mafia daughter before attacking someone. During official MV she does something different and really looks cool doing it. The long intro is pretty usual at live performance and is called "Megitsune Extended Intro", they start with the breakdown spoilers and that's why I don't recommend live version for first time watching, if you want to come back and listen again this with the original trio, highly recommend you to watch the official MV, you'll see a lot more of japanese elements and fox imagery that is their trademark. This is a live compilation from Budokan 2021 celebrating their 10 BABYMETAL Years (there were 10 different shows throughout 4 months and this one was performed in all these concerts that's why you didn't notice the difference in the editing, and that's the reason this is a fine and decent live compilation after all), the avenger or third backup dancer here was Momoko Okazaki, a former Sakura Gakuin member just like our girls, which recently become the new official member as MomoMetal. The Kami Band got a rotation on guitars too but without dropping any high quality level and they're wearing a new gear on their costumes since 2019, like the masks and black burial robes. This is quite long to explain but in general I think after Mikio Fujioka (beloved Kami Band guitarist) past away, they didn't want to risk more exposure on the Kami Band members, there are even a new set of session musicians all of them from the west known as the Western Kami Band, but some fans didn't like the masks either way. Due to pandemic restrictions these 10 live concerts series were reduced to half capacity, the crowd wasn't allowed to mosh'sh, crowd surfing or shout without face mask, instead they can stomp their feet, clap their hands or doing a human wave, at least they can do something to participate in this epic and memorable date event. The crowd sound here were played from the speakers so no real crowd sound. And the "crowd wave", similar to soccer stadium at World Cup, was introduced for the first time here to give the crowd something fun to interact, Flugelhorn from Japan will give you more details since he was there in almost every concert. Budokan 2021 marks their 10 years anniversary celebration and seal the Metal Resistance chapter along with another seal for the group, luckily that seal is already broken and they already came back releasing new album and just yesterday they performed at Leeds UK for the Sabaton's Europe Tour, returning once again after a very long time to live tour outside of Japan. They always love to show their kawaii side, especially on songs like these, but at the same time SuMetal is trying to improve when singing this song, she said she didn't mastered yet, that's why she's doing sound check with this song before live concerts during live tour, is a quintessential BM song and is always a work in progress. She said: _"On the count of three, everyone jump up with the Fox God"_ They're totally pro at crowd participation and leading to them doing what they want by this time, easy job, who wouldn't want to be guide by our queen and princess, sore! In case i or someone didn't explain you about the origin of the "fox sign", here's why. The Fox God (Kitsune Sama) is the Metal God who sent these girls (and Kami Band after to help them with the metal sound) to unify the world and set them free from Jpop slavery. The kitsune sign came out by accident around the time they created the group by the girls when trying to imitate the typical metal horn sign they noticed it was similar when doing fox shadow shape, they implemented this as part of the lore, imagery, theme and live concerts, the lore is huge so take your time and keep digging and riding the Foxhole 🦊🤘 Btw they praised for real and made a ritual to the Fox God for this song to be a hit and successful, and thanks to the Fox God this is one of their major hits and favorite BM fan songs. -NotACult- 👀 Thanks for sharing this and see you next time 🦊🤘🔥

Have a lot of fun ! Lots of fans are keeping a close eye on you guys, we are trying to catch glimpses and watching fancams and want to know what the Sabaton fans thought of Babymetal, etc. and especially know the setlist, because it helps us know more about what they will play at the other shows. Babymetal seems to be louder than Lordi and Sabaton. Especially their opening song. 🙂 Sore does means painful in English, not in Japanese. It's more a word like the English 'heave-ho' as I understand it.

As far as "Sore" is concerned, the video comment actually states: "TRANSLATION NOTE: Sore is what they’re actually saying, it translates to “go” and is usually a chant used at festivals. The reason sore was kept is because it doesn’t really mean anything."

Nice reaction and thanks for the mention and for taking our suggestion. I'm not long back from seeing them live in London last night ... and yes they did play this - it is the song they have played live more than any other. autohmae and others have already explained how they were able to hold this special series of concerts in 2021 despite lockdown and with the very strict rules and limitations placed on everybody who attended. This is really a female empowerment song. It reflects a lot of the Japanese culture starting with the traditional instruments (shamisen) in the the first notes after the intro and the lyrics about women being compared to foxes (kitsune - which also explains why Su-metal had the fox mask) which in Japanese mythology are able to shape shift and take human form in order to deceive. They are saying that women wearing their make up and hiding their true feelings are not trying to deceive anybody, they are simply trying to please everybody (smiling on the face, crying at heart but not showing their tears) - so they are not kitsune (foxes), they are actresses and megitsune (female foxes or vixens) - and they are strong. The intro to the live versions and the breakdown in the middle use the exact melody of an old and very well known Japanese folk song called 'Sakura Sakura' (Cherry Blossoms). When Su spoke a few words she did a high kick - what she said was "Otome wa ... nametara ikan zeyo." (Maidens ... shouldn't be underestimated). This is a famous quote from a Japanese gangster movie said by the daughter of a gang boss. I will second RoadRunner's suggestion for 'From Dusk Till Dawn' ... it is not like anything else you have heard from BABYMETAL yet. I will also say that if you can go to see them live grab that opportunity with both hands and don't let go. I have seen many of the recognised great live bands over the last few decades - BABYMETAL is as good or better than they were (or at least I enjoyed seeing them live the most). 🤘🦊🤘

@@grandparentsreact Well, there's no law that says you can't still react to the MV. As Abe Lincoln apparently once said: "You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time." On the plus side, it was still BABYMETAL. 😉
