Some interesting differences between how BABYMETAL's Eastern and Western Kami bands play the songs - Megitsune (West plays more riff during interlude) - Gimme Choco (East adds a riff) - Light & Darkness (East chugs while West slides)
I love that the West Kamis got a chance to sneak in a few mini-solos in the audience participation portion of Megitsune!! Babymetal definitely need to bring back more band flex moments (east and west).
They are still fairly new all things considered. They went through a lot in 2018. Hopefully they under went a lot of recovery after their 2 year break and are coming back stronger than ever. It sounds like they have gone through a lot of reflection based on what they said during interviews surrounding The Other One.
That they are! I'm sure there are other interesting differences to explore as the Western Kamis start adding more and more of their own stylistic flourishes to the music~
@@funnytoss Indeed! I was already super fan of Barone (he's a spectacle himself) and CJ won me over (I mean more if it's possible) with what he did on the first solo of "METALIZM". I heard it for the first time live in concert and I initially thought I was tripping. But Clear Night footage prove I was right. 😁
Both versions of Kamis play fantastic, but in my opinion West Kami Band interventions feel unnatural, I mean for example: when Su is talking and interacting with the audience they should play what is suppose they have to play, not adding those little solos, can't discuss about their ability 'cause they sound fantastic, but some of their interventions are settled in the wrong moment, that's it. About performances, the Eastern Kamis still have the best ones as a whole. Not like these new guys who play well, but it seems they're trying to shine each one by separated and not as a whole like the original Kamis do.
They are all great musicians, I would be happy whichever ones played a show I was at. I was impressed with Su's English at 1:11 too, she is getting good.
I went to the Taipei show this year with a friend who had been a fan of old-school BABYMETAL and hadn't really followed them in recent years, and he was initially rather disappointed to learn we wouldn't be seeing the Eastern Kamis - but after the show, he was pretty pleased with the show we got, which is pretty high praise given his expectations!
That's right! We unfortunately do not have quite so much pro-shot footage of the West to compare yet, but I'm sure as we get more material moving forward we'll have additional interesting differences to look for!
I always liked BOH’s bass lines and how he can play insane with his fingers but in Light and Darkness cause of the pick that the bass player from west uses makes it sound more aggressive and clearer overall the essence of original Kamis will never be replaced or replicated whats so ever still the new current Kami west still shows great skill and covers BabyMetal well they are talented!
I agree; I prefer the Eastern Kami riffs in Gimme Choco as well. I can't remember precisely when they started doing that - I *think* it was sometime during the Metal Galaxy era.
