It might surprise you but Babymetal is of everything out of Japan the one with the highest sales numbers on the US Billboard charts. And 2 albums in a row, highest charting of any Japanese on the overall Billboard album charts. Last year they had their first arena show in the US, at The Forum near LA. Not only did the main bridge raise up, it raised up it with the lead singer on it halfway through a song (Rondo), and she performed the rest of it with the bridge hanging a ways up in the air.

The guy you were talking about is an Australian cross-dressing wrestler called Lady beard - and he was with a couple of girls in a band called Ladybaby (nothing to do with Babymetal, but they were trying to follow on from Babymetal's success - a few have tried to do what Babymetal do, none of them have come close).

Glad you liked it! This performance is as good as it gets! "Gimme Chocolate" is definitely more polarizing than this, but in my opinion it's more characteristic for them. Their main selling point tis the pretty perfect fusion of different genres, which is not very prominent in "Road of Resistance". That's what makes them so unique and fun. The BabyMetal song that sounds to me most like it would be an action anime theme song is _Syncopation_ (which is only on the Japan release of the _Metal Resistance_ album, while the international release replaces it with _From Dusk Til Dawn,_ another great song). There's just something about the sound of it, though, it may be because a lot of my experience is with anime from the 1990s. :D For a more comedic feeling (but still action-packed) anime, I'd go with _YAVA!,_ also from the same album.

BABYMETAL is a Japanese Kawaii Metal group consisting of (for the most part) SU-METAL on lead vocals, YUIMETAL and MOAMETAL on backing vocals/dancing, or "SCREAM AND DANCE" as they like to call it. I say 'for the most part' as Yui & Moa have a few songs that they do as duets without Su and Su has a few songs she does as solos whilst Yui & Moa take a well deserved break. They were formed in 2010 as part of the idol group Sakura Gakuin, before touring on their own in 2011 and have gone from strength to strength. They started singing to backing tracks with actors in skeleton suits pretending to play instruments (known as BABYBONES) but soon incorporated the Kami Band into their concerts, bringing them in full time at the end of 2013. The Kami Band consists of some of Japan's premier musicians on rotation based on availability. The most popular configuration consisting of Takayoshi Ohmura and Mikio Fujioka on guitar with Leda Cygnus as stand-in, BOH on bass and Aoyama Hideki on drums. These are the people you will see most often in videos. Since the untimely passing of Mikio at the end of 2017 they have enlisted the talents of Isao Fujita on guitar. At the end of 2018 YUIMETAL left the band because of health problems and in 2019 there are 3 girls named AVENGERS that will take her place in a rotating manner. Loving your reactions I love babymetal! You made a great point with how you dont have to understand them to dig their music. I'm almost 40 and rock their music all the time! Another good point hip hop other then Ice Cube, Em, Snoop, and other greats, need to step their game up performance wise. I hardly go to hip hop shows cause the intensity isn't there like it is with rock, country, and metal and underground Hip Hop.

Well, Japan knows how to make metal for ages, just check on X-Japan, better some clip from their "Last Live", they are gonna blow your mind and those guys are from the 80th Also if wanna see all female bands, Japan have some power metal bands and a very goods ones. Try someday Aldious or Lovebites. Lovebites was touring with Dragonforce no much time ago, and those girls can really shred.

As much as I absolutely love Babymetal, saw them live twice last year, I subscribe when I see Band-Maid. For a first listen any of the following live performances would do, Puzzle, Moritorium, or Play. Their the best "hard rock" band I've heard in 30yrs.

The bearded guy you're thinking of is an Australian professional wrestler by the name of Ladybeard. He was in band "Ladybaby" but no longer plays with them. The band is now just a bunch of girls playing mediocre metal. Only one original member left.
Don't forget to check out BAND-MAID. Everything they do is awesome. They have a broad range of influences. Don't forget to check them out LIVE. That's when they're at their best. Something like 'Play!' LIVE. But speaking of Badass Drummers. Jimmy Page said Akane is the reincarnation of John Bonham. Not that they sound like Led Zepplin.
