Nah, the Sheesh chorus is a great choice for multiple reasons: First, it serves as a palette cleanser and sort of a breather because there is SO MUCH going on in the verses, the pre-choruses, the post chorus, the bridge, the breakdown and the chanting outro. The song woulda been hella cluttered with anymore added into the chrous. It is great music writing. Secondly, it's an earworm, love it or hate, you will remember the chorus and IT WILL get stuck in your head. Thirdly, it gives a point form them to be able to focus on choreo and not have to worry about vocals so much for few bars. That will be huge for live performances.
The production for 2NE1 was Teddy from Blacklabel and YG togerher in their early years. Teddy was also the producer for Blackpink with that YG signature. YG took over the business end leaving Teddy to run production for Blackpink. Teddy was not involved in Baby Monster but YG is now back in charge of production. The YG signature production continues. The difference with Baby Monster is actually the vocal talent. Listen carefully and thats where the difference is. Pure vocal talent. This is YG girl group version 3.0 upgrade.
The early YG groups (1TYM, Epik High) created YG sound and style. Then the 2nd gen YG groups (BigBang, 2NE1) established the signature YG sound and style. Teddy was the leader, rapper, song writer, producer for 1TYM and when 1TYM went on hiatus for their mandatory military service, Teddy became a full time producer at YGE. Teddy then became the main producer and creative director for 2NE1 and Blackpink. Teddy created music for 2NE1 at YGE and created the music for Blackpink at TheBlackLabel. Teddy being highly involved with both, 2NE1 and Blackpink, groups was one of the reasons why YG haters called Blackpink an unoriginal copy of 2NE1, when Blackpink debuted. In 2022, TheBlackLabel went from being a subsidiary company of YGE to being an associate company at YGE. This means YGE no longer has over riding control over and unfettered access to TheBlackLabel. As a result, Teddy publicly announced he was making his own 5th gen girl group under TheBlackLabel. Starting April 2024, Teddy is no longer a producer for YGE and no longer the main producer & creative director for Blackpink. Ultimately, Teddy has had nothing to do with Babymonster and YGE does not have any access to the unreleased music made for Blackpink at TheBlackLabel. So, there is no direct music connection between Blackpink and Babymonster. (no Teddy created music) 2NE1, Blackpink, and Babymonster are connected because they share and emulate the signature YG sound and style. Blackpink and Babymonster are further connected in that the members of Babymonster view the members of Blackpink as their idols and role models, in addition the members of Blackpink have mentored the members of Babymonster during their trainee phase. So, if the members of Babymonster are emulating things that the members of Blackpink have done, it's because they are doing it in recognition/honor for their seniors and/or they are doing it because that is how they were taught to do it by their seniors.
for me it's Rami. Rami has a husky voice but she can also sing with adlibs and whistles perfectly which are both very difficult😯❤ even Rami makes history by becoming the first non debuting idol to have spot on The Billboard Trending Songs. You must watch Rami when she sings "pick up your feelings", and she hits notes like Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande.. her voice is international level!
I believe the general story in the MV goes as following: The Monsters are in their mansion/lair and they are trying to escape, through the labyrinth, to the world ... which they succeed in the end. Glad we are here to WELCOME them. 👍👍👍👏👏👏
I cut my Kpop teeth on Blackpink in 2019 so I had a lot of catching up to do since they debuted in 2016. They grew into the most popular girl group in the world. I've heard others say that when Blackpink debuted, people were dissing them because "they sound like 2NE1". It is a vicious cycle. I'm hearing similar critique of Babymonster,. Sheesh, you even referenced Blackpink (see what I did there). The reality is generally speaking people like this music (I'm 67 and I love it) and when you have a group of 7 (6 vocalists, 3 rappers), and train to debut at YGE, you are going to to perform this music. YG has evolved a bit with the release of "Stuck in the Middle", a slower ballad that highlights their amazing vocals. Rappers gotta rap though, so we're gonna keep getting this type of music, sprinkled with an occasional ballad, hopefully. thanks for your reaction. Bob from LA
What’s up Bob! I think when it comes to YG people want more variety if that makes sense. I personally don’t mind the YG sound but I feel like it’s hard not to compare the sounds of some of these groups. With that being said, I really enjoyed this song from the girls and plan on putting this album on repeat for the next week or two 😂
