i love 20:25 xDD nice moves professor i am currently in education as a pedagogue in dk, and thought Zander's idea with life is about dance and music was great. Do you have any tips how to get involved with unfamiliar things like this, as i would be teaching kids and teens about this cosmic pulse :D. Zander is always inspiring and a great teacher but, no, the Allemande is NOT a dance, it belongs in the suite, but it was not meant to be danced; it accompanied the entrance of the dancers (as the name used for it in Germany shows: _Intrada_) and it was meant to be walked, rather than danced. It usually had a rather 'pompous', sustained, if not even refrained, character rather different from Zander's reading. And about the initial 1/16th, there are innumerable ways to render it...
It might sound happier ("better" is very difficult to define), but this is precisely my point: the Allemande is NOT "happy" at all, it is serious and sustained; in fact, it is the only Suite movement in which _inegualité_ (a concept which both Mr. Klein and Mr. Zander seem to "happily" ignore) applies to semi-quavers rather than to quavers, as it is customary; and this clearly points toward a slow, noble, pace.
Allemande is a dance. al·le·mande /ˈaləˌmand,-ˌmänd/ (noun) - any of a number of German dances, in particular an elaborate court dance popular in the 16th century.
