"Why on Earth would a cellist want to get up and play the Bach Chaconne?" asks renowned cellist Colin Carr, before answering his own question and then performing a spellbinding version of the fifth and final movement of Bach’s solo Violin Partita No. 2 in D minor, BWV 1004. This 2011 performance was captured at a Heifetz Celebrity series concert at Anderson Hall in Wolfeboro, NH, in the summer of 2011.

Absolutely stunning and magnificent tone coming out of that thing and a respectable performance, does one ever consider any performance definitive ? There are so many nuances and variety of interpretation possibilities that even after a lifetime there still would be ways of playing it better I suppose no matter how well it is played at any point in time. Most of you already know Bach wrote this when he found his first wife dead coming home from a trip, I hear the wrenching sorrow of his heart here.
