I feel proud, that you invited me to this accustic Sensation & that lovely church with your passioned Fingers on the Keyboard & feet @ peddals.! Thank You!
I am amazed that Everytime I hear a Bach work, that he combines artistic expression and technical quality into a complete whole. It is as if the Lord God touched him in a special way, musically, so that every piece he composed was a masterpiece in its own right. I love listening to Bach because he soothes the soul, and, at the same time, is technically amazing.
I seamed to have missed this Bach piece in the past, a real pleasure, and has usual clearly defined stops no muddle so easy to hear all notes from all keyboard and pedals, many thanks once more Jonathan and Tom for your expertise with the sound and video.
Gorgeous: I love this amazing piece by Bach!! Another video from my favourite (obviously!!!) concert. It was full of so many beautiful pieces of music. Another tour de force for you both Jonathan & Tom. Stunning views of the Cathedral & glorious recording again Tom - uplifting to say the least! Counting down the days to next week!!
As always, a joy to watch and listen to the music produced by Jonathan Scott, a real master with superb talent. Thank you Tom for always producing excellent video. So greatly appreciative to you both.
I’m not sure why but every time I hear the fantasia the words “buried sweetly in your yellow hair” pop into my head. Great Performance Jonathan and excellent filming Tom!
Thank you, thank you for using varying registration throughout. Almost gave the Fantasie a Franck-esque quality. So tired of hearing Bach on huge organs with no use of changing registration that can add so much expression to Bach's music.
Thanks, so much, for uploading this separately from your recital at Ripon last July. I just find this piece so moving - and keep coming back to it. For any newcomers to your channel, they may find it interesting to hear you talk a bit about this piece before you play it (it's the second item on Jonathan's programme)! Best wishes to you both, as always. 🇺🇦
A wonderful performance. Not strictly baroque, but with nice touches of the colorful resources of this instrument. I fancy Bach would appreciate instruments that incorporated improvements such as constant and plentiful wind supply, higher wind pressures for reeds, and yes, even swell boxes.
I'm a Bach fan, but sadly, this one didn't do it for me. Instead, I let my mind wander while I enjoyed Tom's excellent videography of that amazing cathedral.
Bach can be played in so many ways and so we will find versions we like and those that don’t do much for us. I enjoyed this version as I like to hear all parts clearly. Music is a living art form and while there will always be a place for historical instruments and music played on original instruments etc, it is by no means the only way. I particularly enjoy the late Ivan Sokol playing Bach with his crystal clear bell like sound and light registration. However I don’t enjoy the recordings of Bach specialist, Stefano Molardi.
I love the Fantasia. But there is something about the phrasing and stretto that seems off to me. I know it's written that way, but some of the entries just seem rushed.
