Radek Baborák - lesní roh BACH, Johann Sebastian Suita pro lesní roh BWV 1008 (verze pro lesní roh úprava Radek Baborák) 1. Preludium 2. Allemande 3. Courante 4. Sarabande 5. Menuetto I. , Menuetto II. 6. Gigue
How to play Bach: A masterclass by Radek. I don't think I've EVER heard any instrumentalist as clearly identify the harmony, phrase it with such precision. I never had a second of doubt where I was in the harmony, where it was going and where I was in the phrase. No doubt whatsoever in the articulation. Just brilliant musicianship. Bravo.
What a wonderful world of sound, beauty and joy Mr Baborak transports us to. He coaxes the most heart rending sounds out of his instrument - it would be no exaggeration to say I have heard nothing like it. Many many thanks for sharing this wonderful performance.
With Covid, everyone has been doing lots of recording, and it helps you appreciate that this is 16 minutes of basically impeccable horn playing, in what looks to be a single, uninterrupted take. The degree of difficulty is almost beyond belief.
it's probably not a single, uninterrupted take (notice the cuts), but that doesn't matter. It's flat out, beautiful music making....beyond just 'horn playing.' BRAVO!!!
hah, i am not a musician but i think I can make it sound similar on the the single horn my son "handed" me 10y ago when he quit mid school band... hmm, just kidding..
@@davidcottrell1308By cuts do you mean the use of more than one cameras at the same time...? If you look carefully, even the head movements and breath takings are fluid in spite of changing angles... So is the sound recording, in my opinion...
It is certainly possible that this was one seamless take, but there is no way to tell. And those "camera angle" changes are cuts to the video, for sure. And audio can be seamlessly edited, so listening to the sound recording doesn't prove anything. Again, it's amazing! @@kisskari
Very nice! As a french horn player myself I always felt like Bach could have written some really beatiful solo horn music, this gets very close to that.
The baroque horn definitely couldn’t have performed that kind of music, but it’s interesting to think about what he would have done with the modern valve horn
Thank you Radek, simply brilliant. Bach cello suite no 2. Amazing performance. Whilst wishing you well for your conducting, I hope it does not take you away from your phenomenal horn playing. Stay safe and well y’all.
Absolutely incredible!! As a French horn player myself I'm blown away. But I do find it funny that the camera to his right pans out and keeps showing a cello case among the seats. Some subtle trolling maybe? Lol
Toc sutil, suavitat absoluta, excel•lent so de grabació. Aquest "trompaire" mai deixa indiferent a ningú. Els mordents, els dobles i triples sons del moviment lent, sona espectacular....enhorabona mestre
A good player can sound good on any type of horn, but he uses that 103 (Durk clone) here as if it's the best horn for him and he's the best player to play it. The whole range is rich with overtones, but still clear, and with room for panache. This is how I try to play my 103 each day, but never will. Wonderful playing.
Great playing by an unparalleled artist. Does anyone know what edition he is using? I have an old Wendell Hoss transcription that is not as highly ornamented. Love the multiphonics in the Sarabande!
Bravo!!! Not only great technique and performance. This was not able to perform in Bach-era. BTW, after everybody gets vaccinated, please come to Japan, again. Japanese audience may welcome you as a conductor as well as a horn player.
