A short running session featuring my Bachmann Standard 3MT 2-6-2T edited with real sound.
Sounds are provided by a number of similar locomotives from my sound collection, captured at various Gala and Preserved Railways over the past few years.
Here we see BR Standard 3MT 2-6-2T, No.82004 hauling a local stopping service on the Somerset & Dorset Railway.

I’ve just bought one of these, it is absolutely stunning! Also I have a Tri-ang one from the 60’s which has done a million miles, but after a good service it now runs and sounds like new. Let’s hope the Bachmann version is still running in 60 years! 😃

I remember them between Dovey Junction (Dyfi Junction) around 1964. They were quick to accelerate five or six coach trains and I rather liked them. I wanted to check something: in some images of the Bachmann 3MT the piston rod and cross head don’t seem to point at the driving wheel centre, but somewhere below the centre. Is that the case?

They certainly were excellent machines from what I heard. Hopefully we'll be able to see what there were like again in the not to distant future with 82045 under construction. Hmm, I'll have to check that
