Thanks for this Mike. This was just what I needed to get my Bachmann 25 running quietly again. An excellent description to get to the motor bearings. After a light oiling its now running smoothly and quietly. Really helpful :) Best wishes from New Zealand, David.
Thank you so much for the tutorial. It was very helpful. I bought a second hand bachmann 32 class which had a very similar mech. It needed a good service as it was very noisy. Your method worked like a charm.

@@ModelRailwaysUnlimited I was running it on my model railway and my model railway club's layout and kept hearing this grinding noise on those two occasions, so I took It back to where I had bought it from and the guy (a nice person) checked it over and tested it, said that it needed a new motor, within a few days I got the loco back and now it runs brilliant (sorry for the really long reply)
Great video and much appreciated as has answered questions about a Class 25 I brought on eBay. Runs well but in reverse as it seems the previous owner has removed the PCB and rewired incorrectly! At least now I know how to get inside and which wire should be going where…
Very good, just replaced a motor on a class 25 as it sounded like a coffee grinder 😢 unfortunately the new motor from Bachmann isn’t any better. I think the motor is vibrating against the base plate on the chassis. I’ll have to keep investigating 😅
