Finished as No.4791 in LNER lined green, we see the model in action on the Peco loft layout 'Peckwick Rye' hauling a rake of Pullman cars.

I pre-ordered one for £220, then when I saw the pics it looks just the same as the last one. I’ve got 4 others that cost between £30 and £90. The £90 one was recent new old stock from S and J Models and it looks exactly the same.

From the up close pics that I have seen it's a vast improvement over the outgoing model. Much more convincing smokebox door, rivet work aplenty particularly on the running boards etc. It does however beg the question as to whether it's worth the extra 90 odd pounds for the benefit of said details but I'm on the fence with it for the time being. I have held off from pre-ordering one.

Hi Andrew, sorry you are disappointed with video. These videos are merely complementally to our written reviews as featured in the pages of RM, aimed to give the reader an idea of the models running characteristics. We are a small team and often create these videos after hours. No doubt there will be more provisional videos to view online when the model becomes available publicly.

Why? its not like RM are flogging these on behalf of Baccy. Better than nothing. Keep it up RM. The model really looks Clunky TBH.

Less scenery and more V2 would have been nice.

I've heard some less than complimentary things about these new models; things like shoddy build quality (large and obvious panel gaps between the parts), ropey motors, and much more besides.

The tender connection is the "plug and play" type similar to Dapol's Mogul and some of Bachmann's DMUs rather than the previous "wire and socket" type. Will be interesting to see if Bachmann decide to use this type of connection on any new tooled tender locos in the future (the CR 812 and LNWR Improved Precedent won't have them obviously but still)
