I used to travel intercity steam hauled and there wasnt much differemce in pulling power as i remember.

Yes a few were painted in Blue from the start with small yellow panels.

Was it DCC fitted? Is your layout DCC?

Everything we run run on the GCR layout we convert to DCC, as that's what power we use for the layout. We add chips in when we need to film locos on the test track.
