Duty belt Suspender System for law enforcement. Real review of this product from a veteran LEO. This video was not sponsored or endorsed by any company. Open and honest consumer review. Link: www.backdefensesystems.com/De...
I was very skeptical about this system but my doctor said I had to do something and my chief flat out refused an outer vest carrier, even with doctors note. I'm on my 4th week with this product and have gotten the hang of it fairly well. Hip pain, gone. Back pain, gone. I wish this had been around when I started 20 years ago. An observation, you wear your belt much tighter than I do. I used to wear mine like that but after talking to the guys that make this product, I keep it slightly snug. A WORLD of difference in comfort. Good video brother. Helped me figure out the shirt tuck.
Ronnie Bowman Hey thanks for the feedback. I only wear this system for Class A’s and B’s (court days) now because we have outer vests, but when I wear these next court date I’ll definitely loosen up the belt a bit and see how that feels. Thank you again! Stay safe out there.
Thank you so much for this. I was trying to figure out how to wear the suspenders with just the duty shirt. This video helped out a lot. I no longer have burning hip pain due to the friction and weight
I am wearing this product for the first time and I can feel the difference. I don't feel uncomfortable or look unprofessional while on duty. Thanks Back Defender!
After a month alone using this system my chiropractor asked me if I did anything different because he noticed a tremendous difference in my back when he adjusted me. Totally complimented the system.
There are people who put in less work than you do before you finish putting on a pair of pants. Man. I knew there was a lot of stuff to put on, but seeing the preparation lends some perspective to the time it takes to not only get prepared, but figure out a system that works best for you. Respect.
This cop seems like a really cool and down to earth guy. I'm looking at this for my EMS work. We wear vests now, that plus the gear and then lifting stretcher with patients is fun for my back. Stay safe brother!
Thanks for the video. Short, concise way to show the product. I was looking st this product because a coworker has one but he was always vague about it. Your video helped.
Awesome video man. I was looking at buying the back defender system but I had questions about how it works. This video cleared it all up.. definitely buying one. Thanks!
I like your belt setup brother, I dont carry as many cuffs (got one double case up front cause I like to keep things out of my back) but im definetly gonna invest in this for when im not wearing my outer carrier.
Awesome well done video on how to set up the Back Defender system. I'm still on the fence regarding this system vs the CCW Double Duty comfort sling for Law Enforcement and personal EDC both are concealable but the Back Defender is $100 more. One user review stated it caused him extreme hip pain from the front panels which defeats to purpose of having it. My inner belt and Duty system locks tightly with their velcro liners so don't have to use belt keepers unless want to but I do like having the option the Back Defender offers.
Andre Havard Thanks for your comment. I can definitely attest to the hip pain your friend experienced, but that is only because he has the keepers placed incorrectly. If you place them on the hip bones it will hurt ever single time you get in and out of the patrol car. I’ve e had this happen to me many times. Just a quick readjustment (slide the keepers either forward or backward off the sides of your hips). I have mine placed at my 2 o’clock, 5 o’clock, 7 o’clock and 10 o’clock if that makes sense. In other words all 4 keepers are at 90 degree angles preventing the rubbing on my hip bones. I can also see this being a problem for ppl with small or bony hips. It’s quite uncomfortable if not mounted correctly.
Instead of traditional shirt locks, sew on soft velcro stripes to your pants' inner side (to the beltline, but inside) and sew on prickly velcro stripes to your uniform shirt where it would contact the beltline. This way you have your shirts locked and you can use this system also.
Great looking product .. I wish my department & others would just go to a molle style vest .. we have the same Point Blank plate carrier your department uses but in black .. really like the Point Blank carrier but a molle vest would alleviate so much of my hip pain ... I worked in counter terrorism before applying for a school protection Officer gig through our sheriff's department & at that job we used Banshee molle vests .. so much better than having to keep EVERYTHING on the belt ..I have a pair of Tactical Tailor suspenders that work great for me helping with the hip pain but of course we're not allowed to wear them .. I wore them under my Banshee plate carrier at the port but my current job doesn't allow it ... Great review brother & watch yer 6
I use a backupbrace and the cuffs never are allowed to touch my spine in such a manner that would cause the types of injuries that may isolate it to hit my spine. The only thing my spine feels is the solid flatness of the interior brace and support.
How’s it going, love the vid... I work armed security and usually have the same back problems but I’m gonna take a chance and get that back system. Thanks....keep it up.
Just received my Back Defense Systems today. I can barely walk when I get out of bed in the morning. I'm hoping this will make a difference when I wear them tomorrow. Great video and thank you for taking the time to make it. Be safe out there.
@@TruthTactical thanks for your prayers! Turns out I have a medium bone spur in my left heel that's going to need surgery and no arch at all in my left foot. The Back Denfense System definitely works as advertised and I highly recommend it.
Holy shit this is exactly what I need for work! I work in the armed security field and we gotta lug around almost the exact same stuff law enforcement does (minus the taser) and my company won't allow duty suspenders because they prevent me from being able to tuck my shirt in unless they are on the outside of my uniform shirt (which the company won't allow). Thank you for showing this awesome piece of kit for those of us who gotta lug around a bunch of stuff for a living, this is gonna save my back!
Dope vid, going to purchase ASAP. I'm a skinny fuck, and everyone on my department gives me shit because it looks like my pants sag due to the weight of my duty belt. Can't wait to try these out.
I bought this the other day and I got it in two days. Thumbs up for fast service! I just wore it for the first time today. I noticed a drastic difference. My belt felt almost weightless! I can’t speak for durability yet but it does feel pretty good. It definitely is an adjustment period (I.e putting it on and even wearing it). However, I think it is a worthwhile investment. I never regret investing in something that prevents my body from falling apart.
u can actually use shirt stays with this system if you wear the belt style shirt stay over the notches where the shirt is supposed to tuck in under the pants
cjones22386 my shoulders only get fatigued from wearing the system without my vest. The harness will dig into your shoulder like a seat belt. Other than that no daily pain or discomfort. Then again I have semi-muscular shoulders so this may be different for each individuals. Thanks for your comment.
RyanMiller3039 I have the same issue. Every now and then I just tuck the back of my shirt in. A comfortable pair of shirt stays would make this a complete system.
It’s all good until..... the stomach gurgles.... and now you’re running for a code brown.... then you have to get dressed again. Lol just recently tried suspenders. They are life changing. Luckily we use the blauer outer vests. Definitely a game changer.
This was always a problem for me. Others have recommended different shirt stays, so I'm sorry to say this but trial and error is going to be the way to go. 😩
Couldn’t you put the vest and back defender with shirt before pants? Then attach stays and then put your pants on? This is assuming you already have it adjusted.
Ayyoob Alansari I’m not sure. Because the shirt goes inside the slit in the keepers. The shirt stays I have are military. They spike/clip into the bottom of the shirt and you stand on them inside your shoes. (Hope that made sense lol). And because of the way the shirt is tucked it won’t allow the bottom of the shirt to hang freely making it difficult or near impossible to use the shirt stay System I have.
Law Enforcement Explains subscribed to you as well. Looking forward to the content you have coming out. I have a review of my Tac Vest I'm editing now. Keep up the good work!
I've had these for years and I prefer to wear mine under my vest in case (God forbid) I get shot it's quicker to take the vest off. Yes I understand they can cut it off, but they may not have to if it is out of the way of the injury. If it's over the vest it has to come off. I also find that it doesn't print on the shirt that way. I also use HSGI (high speed gear) shoulder pads for comfort.
Thank you for this! If I could've found some shoulder pads I would wear this using my outter vest. I'm excited to grab some shoulder pads and try it out. Thanks again. Stay safe out there!
www.pointblankenterprises.com/point-blank-body-armor/hi-lite-male.html I think this is it. Keep in mind this vest was purchased years ago so they may have changed a bit.
www.pointblankenterprises.com/armorsmart/details/concealable-vests-pbba.html Here you go! Desert tan is the color. The model is “VISION.” Extremely comfortable btw. Light weight and all day comfort. Granted we only wore these vests for court with our class A’s or B’s. The outter carrier was what we used for patrol.
@@ItsNiicky so…I’ve never work it with an outter, but just knowing the straps have a little bump at the top (on the shoulder) may be uncomfortable. You can always get a tiny shoulder pad to alleviate this tho. I have some shoulder pad straps from High Speed Gear that would be perfect for this.
To be fair I've only used 1 type of shirt stay so I should not have said that as there are many different types of stays. What I attempted to use were the military style stays that have the hook under your foot. www.armysurplusworld.com/military-shirt-stays-with-loops?gclid=Cj0KCQjwrszdBRDWARIsAEEYhrejJusNWONht1CDwJ6LkUuW3gblZ3LuFPOsKYq1TcMMCN1I88ToIpkaAvFnEALw_wcB they didn't work well with this system because the keepers on the harness will not allow your uniform shirt to hang freely and the military style keepers depend on your shirt being able to hang down your legs. I'm sure there are plenty shirt stay systems that would work with the Back Defender.
Derek the pants that we wear have elastic in the bands anyways so it’s not an issue for me. I can literally pull my pants a full size larger because of it. Also worth noting the company is pretty up front that this system will not work on people with big bellies. That’s the reason why my old Chief gave them to me. He couldn’t wear them.
Get those handcuffs off your lower back, that destroyed me after 20 years. Still going at it, but the lower back arthritis from all those years of having gear back there already did the damage.
Thank you! Someone already point that out, and I've since fixed it. Now I run them on the side. Nothing on my lower back. Yall are awesome. Thank you again!
I've just had problems with the duty belt and I'm a new corrections officer. The belt weighs down my pants and makes them sag. I'm just looking for solutions. Any advice would be appreciated.
Hey Michael. I'ma try to make this long story short lol. I was trained to have magazines opposite of firearm and I thought it was stupid that ppl ran their duty belts any other way. Fast forward to 2015. Took a class called Officer Survival. The INSTRUCTOR ran his belt with same side magazines. (Mind blown)! I tried my best not to be a jerk, but asked him why he did that. He took me to the firing line and had a timer. Put magazines on both sides of my belt and told me to shoot and reload like I normally do. Then he instructed me to try it same side reload. My reloads were faster (granted not by much) but it was a smoother reload. It revolutionalized my way of thinking. After much consideration I began to carry this way and have been for years since. All that being said I've been doing this for 10 years. In that time I've come to appreciate many styles and ways officers run their rig. The ONLY thing I stress is that said officer trains with their gear. I honestly wouldn't care if you have your mags in your socks (you get what I'm saying) so long as you can get to it in a fight. That's my attitude now. Too many officers only shooting once a year for pistol qualifications. Not practicing reloads, opposite hand holster drawls, opposite hand shooting etc etc etc. Thank you so much for your comment brother. Next time I go to work this week I'll make a video as to why things are on my belt the way they are and how your duty belt is an extension of you.
@@TruthTactical hey bro, I'm still not understanding why it's better on the same side -I work Armed Security, just got done with 2 state quals and everyone on my team including instructor carry opposite side of firearm..stay safe
@@ligmasurvivor997 Hey brother thanks for you comment. I would encourage you to try it. You may like it and of course if not you can always go back to opposite side no harm no foul. I do it simply for the comfort and security of my reloads. This is of course subjective (how I see it) as opposed to saying one method is right and one is wrong. So long as you train with your gear and can comfortably get to it using gross motor skills in high stress situations I see nothing wrong with either. Thanks again for your comment and definitely stay safe as well!
Michael Brown been wearing them same way(same side as weapon) for 26 years, no problems, it’s all about the training, plus my arm is tucked in a little tighter during reload and shorter reach for strong hand if need be...to each his own, whatever works best for you.....training training training 🙂
I honestly don't understand the thought process behind Class B style uniforms these days. A pressed button down isn't changing anyone's mind about LE one way or the other lol. Y'all should be allowed to be comfortable and as efficient as possible 🤙
This was my old agency, but we did have some other polo shirts that are extremely comfy on patrol and were given the choice to wear whichever we wanted to. Only class A’s mandatory for court days. (Which is how it should be IMO) lol.
You need to take the punches away from the rear of your belt. That creates so much pressure points to your lower back when sitting. I have absolutely nothing on the back of my belt and made a world of difference. Even better when your on the ground fighting.
Late response, but absolutely I changed the load out of my belt a ways back. Nothing on my backside now except a flat knife. Thank you for your comment and stay safe out there!
and don't sit for long periods of time, get out take a walk. I learned the hard way from sitting to long, I got a blood clot in my leg, On blood thinners for life
@@TruthTactical i wish I could. My agency would freak out if I walked around with the muffin top. Very strict uniform policies. And tucking in my shirt on every call for fear of a sgt rolling up and seeing me look bad is awful lol
I don’t hate people. I don’t hate life. If I were scared I certainly wouldn’t be in law enforcement. I am black and a cop. I do not beat up and arrest my fam. On rare occasions I do have to use force which is objectively reasonable, but I do not enjoy it. Thanks for your comment.
