On the blanket. Never regretted our actions for our freedom. Only regretted not being able to give wee Bobby this epitaph 'Born a subject of an empire - died a citizen of a Republic'.

Brilliant well done , I have seen Christy Moore singing this song many times . This is an excellent rendition, it sounds quite like Christys version. Bobby Sands also wrote the song Mcilhatton . I think you would really suit singing a few Wally page tunes.
My friend, I love your version of this song. However that song is not about refugees and emigration, but deportation of the Irish who revolted against King George III in 1803. They wanted independence. They were executed or deported to the jails of Australia. Still nowadays it's quite a long journey, a lot of them never came back home, in Derry. I'll keep listening to you though. All the best.
Refugees fleeing war and persecution....same thing as far as I'm concerned....ordinary people being forced to leave their country because of oppresive colonists....I didn't actually say the song was about the refugee crisis but just made a parrallel....thanks for your comment
