You have to respect Christy for standing up for his beliefs, never shunned away and no doubt suffered financial for it, but no bother to Christy. Good on ya Christy, never failed the brotherhood.
I love Christy. I was sitting in the front of a transit van, crossing Dublin City centre, on a Friday evening, back in 1999. It was after 6 o'c, dark, and I was exhausted. I was a labourer, and had spent the week attending two plasterers from Co Derry. The radio was on, and on came Christy singing "Welcome to the Caberet" It blew me out of the water. I was 18 and had never heard it before. It was fast, funny, Irish and for me, it was the beginning of a love affair with Christys music. The following morning (Saturday) I went into Cavan Town and bought my first copy of "Christy Live at the Point". Christy has introduced me (through his music) to artists and songs I otherwise, probably, would never have heard. Songs that come to mind - The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll, I Pity The Poor Immigrant, Victor Jara, Viva La Quenta Brigada, The Voyage, I could go on for an hour. I ended up buying about 8 copies of "Live At The point" as I kept lending it to others. And it wouldn't be returned. I wanted others to hear Christy sing. I bought my last copy of the CD "Live At The Point", about 10 years ago, in HMV on Patrick's Street in Cork and I have never opened it. I vowed that I will keep this copy, unopened, until my time in this life is over.
@@topbanana4128 hard job labouring to plasters, I’m for Co.Derry myself and I’m in the plastering trade, but what a story on how you found out about Christy Moore the legend
@@topbanana4128 love it 😀 I was about 4 ardoyne bits riding the house and I remember shouting don't take christy. We used to fall asleep listening to him .. it was like a lullaby 😌
Wasn't Christy recently at a protest where he called Irish Nationalists right wing thugs...Back in the day Bobby Sands was considered a right wing thug! This traitor shouldn't be allowed to utter the mans name!
My 16 year old son is a fan all his life as am I. We saw you together playing in newtown mount kennedy. I was so happy to have shared that with him. Thank you for all the memories.

I love u long time Christy. I also love reading comments from Irish people whose kin left here generations ago and who have feelings and emotions for here even if they are born some place else. Here is Ireland and you are all welcome any time Tiocfaidh ár lá
God bless you, I’ve just finished 16 lives, Joseph Mary Plunkett, and passed it to my lovely, rebellious granddaughter, bless all the beautiful freedom fighters past and present, I know Ireland will be united one day sooner than later, the real truth has been ridiculously smeared by the British 🇮🇪☘️
In all fairness, even Neil Young sold out to the Pfizer-potion.. Thanatophobia is a real thing. Some people just can't come to terms with the fact that, one day, we'll all die, from something.
Hey Christy Moore I'm white & I'm poor I'm straight, I'm right & I'm free I'm a non-environmentalist true fundamentalist Please dont bother me - SVP RSVP
But he was a terroist. He killed people for his beliefs. Do you also support other terrorists? Do you support killing people because of a belief? Where do you draw the line?
Are the British army terrorists🤔 bloody Sunday plus colouded with terrorists to kill innocent people??? Just asking? Or did they not teach you about them crimes?
How many innocent Irish women and children starved while the Brits exported food *from* Ireland, and confiscated food from aid ships sent to Ireland from other countries, because the Brits believed Catholic Irish were vermin? How many people in India, Africa, and other countries were killed because the British aristocracy believed they were superior to other people?
