Interesting on that animalis accord. Of course, the audience and I REALLY wanted you to mention this commercial fragrance that uses it (speculation abounds). First of all nice to hear from you again... Hope your offshore working journey was a nice one! Smelled Figment man like two days ago and was quite disappointed as well. In my opinion it is a Blamage for Amouage to release such a fragrance... what i got really was this bitter kind of earthy almost petrichor (rain smell) like opening which really reminded me of Isobutylquinoline (an old school leather "note" which in my opinion has a very unappealing bitter kind of sharpness ) and Geosmine (which actually is the main component to the petrichor aspect and to me has a beet rooty vibe^^). I really can see the association with the Animalis as well. I initially was so turned off by it that I throw the blotter straight away after like 30 seconds^^ I really can't se anyone out there wearing something that (I thought I would never use such a word for an Amouage Fragrance) disgusting...

Pleased to see u back and thanks for the updates. Your fragrance review by Mr. Oz sounds amazing. What type of genre of fragrances will you put your your creation into ? The way he describes it, it sounds floral gourmand. What do you think? How can I get a sample of it in New York ?

Welcome back! I really want to get my nose on animalis. I first heard of this synthetic from an interview with Liz Moores, now I am really curious. Have you tried Papillion Artisan Perfumes? I really like their stuff across the board. I don't have issues with the commonly used synthetics, they are lovely and have their benefits but I don't like it when they dominate a composition (thus smelling harsh to my nose) and ESPECIALLY when it's happens with a expensive brand. 2 recent scents I've smelt which I think went overboard with the synthetics. The amount of Ambroxan in MFK's Grand Soir is really off-putting to my nose. The basic vanilla and laudanum base was fine if a bit boring. Why add the ambroxan? I don't get it. Puredistance Sheiduna is another revolting concoction I've tried recently. The Ambermax or gasoline note is so obnoxious it destroyed whatever balance the composition was trying to achieve. I think they might have tried to recreate the dusty effect ala Andy Tauer's LDDM but it comes across as obnoxious gasoline to my nose. I don't even want to bring up the overuse of white musk (shudders)

Hate to say it mate but the more you smell and explore it takes away most of the magic. It gets to a point where you recognise loooads of these synthetics/bases and you realise there's been very little effort involved. What it can do is make you appreciate the artistry when it is there and what they've achieved with them :) But yes this entire hobby is based on deconstructing what we love which is kind of a buzzkill lol.

Don't forget a few extra sprays of Tom Ford for the hairdresser.

Did you try Parfums de Marly Hamdani? Some people are saying Figment man is similar to it, but PdM is better.

It's really a damn shame that a luxury fragrance house is using cheap bases & charging luxury prices . I never found an Amouage I've liked anyway . Best of luck to you with your perfume venture . Sounds wonderful!

What do you do for a living that takes you to Dubai? Very cool! I would love to go to Dubai, just for the sake of going.

I think you will really like Toukka Ta Tao. The top is very different for HoM, but the mid and base both have an unmistakable HoM DNA. For me, the first hour or so is really pure magic, and worth every penny all on its own. An absolute stunner. Unfortunately, I have to keep reapplying it, not because of longevity problems, but because the drydown on me is pure ambergris, and my nose can't take that. My skin just amps up ambergris notes to a ridiculous degree (part of the reason why I can't really get away with wearing Orca). I know how much you love Orca, though, so I suspect you're really going to fall in love with Toukka Ta Tao.

I don't know what to make of the ones I've smelled, and the prices seem insane for what I have smelled. LOVE the idea of soaked leathers. And I really enjoy Matriarch's incense.

Fuck I blind buyed figment man and regret it. There is no where you can wear it. When would anybody wanna smell like dirt. Soooo stupid. This review just put the nail in the coffin for me on the fragrance.
