I was so surprised to see you in the race on Sunday. Great insight into how that sort of thing goes down. You made some moves before the mechanical DNF, and got a TV interview, so not a bad showing, IMO. I can't possibly be unhappy with your Grosjean pick, because it made me laugh.

Great show, as usual. I'm with Conor that some of the listeners are interested in technical detail and enjoyed Will Power's take on track versus tires, etc. I'm also glad of the explanation of why Jack Harvey started Saturday's race but didn't have a relief driver jump in when he got out. Coming from NASCAR, for which such a substitution is common, I couldn't figure it out. Chase asked a lot of the questions I'd been wondering about. Keep up the good work, Conor, both with the podcast and with racing. You've accumulated a bundle of bad luck, and I keep hoping you'll get some good luck to balance it. A full year with a top team, maybe.

Indycar, IMO should have used the "high stress" of components to pull downforce off of the cars. 30% less would have made for better racing. The harder they are to drive the better the race. Go get them this weekend, I won't make it to Indy (have a pyro show to work) but I will have it on while e-matching shells. Top 3 Colton, Power, Kirkwood.

Great show. Really good analysis and interviews with Scott and Will. I'd like to know if Will has a SIM setup at his home or does Penske have something for all their drivers?

Let's be honest, both races were pretty bad, because overtaking was way too hard. To the point that the leaders didn't want to lap cars, because of the risk of going off line. I hope next year it's better, because Iowa was probably the best short oval in the calendar. I also hope that the next ovals this season are better, but I'm mildly optimistic because I think that the main issue was the tires being way too hard for the new pavement, and the downforce level was too low. Also, it was nice seeing you driving an IndyCar again! Maybe we can see you in more races this season? ;)

Is there an episode where Conor discussed the String Ray beef in more detail? I recall Conor saying Sting Ray disparaged one of Conor's sponsors (I'm assuming Bitnile based on the timing) but I haven't been able to find more details. I'm just curious where the beef originated from.

Was it ever an option or possibility that you could have had a special session before qualifying on Saturday, knowing that there was a chance you would be needed to drive at some point?

I feel like Indycar drivers should draw a line between crappy for them and crappy for a viewer. To be in a fast car and unable to take advantage sucks. But it doesn't meant that there's nothing worth watching for the fan with strategies and team performance moving to the front. It will be funny when Milwaukee comes and everyone complains about severe tire deg! I'd love to have the racing be amazing, but I still enjoyed watching all of both races and think that it will improve for next year. Conor and Chase, great show, thanks!

Why do so many drivers enjoy night racing? Is it the heat for the drivers and/or track temp?

Great to see CD back where he belongs....in an IndyCar seat. Thought the entire event was a bit of a debacle, including Conor being required to take some sort of refresher thing or whatever...give me a break. Still not clear what's going on w Harvey's neck, did he hurt it in a wreck or what? Or just another unexplained malady of the post 2021 era? Like half the people one knows just being sick for no reason at any given time? It's weird man. Anyway, was great to see Conor out there making moves and its a drag the his car croaked. Ditto seeing Will back in the winners circle, as incredibly dull as the Sunday race was (until Sting Ray decided to see if his car could fly. It does.) Still don't understand the point of the hybrid as a value proposition for the fans. How exactly is it meant to create better racing? IndyCar already had the best overall open wheel racing in the world. Why should anyone besides a battery nerd (are there any?) care? It throws a 100 lb barbell on the rear axle, clearly badly unbalancing the cars and requiring funky tire compounds (IMO Palou took one for the series and blamed himself but no way he just loses it way post apex if his car wasn't doing weird things, ditto his recent pit snafus) And the quali session was a total disaster. Rossi's baffled, clearly highly PO'ed interview after his run with that highly caffeinated, highly irritating pit reporter (Georgia somebody?) summed it up perfectly: 'I don't know what just happened'. Neither did we, AR. Glad Pato told it like it is re: the track and Ed C re: the hybrid. As a huge fan of this series I hope they haven't shot themselves in the foot yet again, right as they looked on the brink of getting the attention and fanbase and new all-network TV deal the product deserves.

Indycar followed their own rules.... but their rule is stupid
