Great video! It was fun watching you catch those kings. Thanks for sharing this adventure with us. I completely understand how the family things take priority. especially with the children and the coaching! Keep doing your thing my friend. When you get the chance to put out another video, I'll definitely be checking it out!
Great video. Learning techniques from your video. I had the opportunity to fish along with your son last month at the same river. He’s a salmon slayer.
Man, this river reminds me so much of a river in Northern Cal that we used to smash on the kings. Looks so similar its crazy, Their would be 4-6 of us locals on the bank and then about 5-6 tiny 10ft prams and we would have the fish corralled somewhat. Guys on fly's would be getting them and then of course us bait boys would be picking up a few fish each hour or so. Old timers had their thermos full of coffee (and brandy) , fire would be burning on the cold mornings and then the rotation of who was bringing meat or eggs and stuff for a breakfast for everyone would rotate. Makes me so sad that the particular fishery is pretty much non existent anymore, this year especially but all together the past few years their just aren't enough fish returning to even try. I honestly wouldn't even want to risk hooking one and possibly messing with it because every single fish is that important to possibly get a return back to the river. Gosh, anyways as always man love the videos.
This year, and last, had some huge runs of salmon. We haven't been open the past two weekends and its killing me. Most of the fish are all colored up, hoping that the coho move in soon. It's been pretty dry up this way lately and the rivers are low. First rain i think they will start trickling in 🤞
@@fathersonoutdoors8049 yes sir. Well as soon as we get close enough where you give me the invite. These lips are sealed on rivers, and I’ll bring the beer and whatever else you tell me to. It’s a sad state of affairs down my way. Lol. Thank you sir
@@fathersonoutdoors8049 I’m seriously gonna have to find a way to take you up on that one of these times sir. Maybe next salmon season we can plan something, like said our fishery’s down here have jugs been decimated, even in the next couple years if they do open the fishing back up, besides maybe one or two rivers in which are still (sort of a somewhat thriving river) the salmon are just doomed. The politicians are just so naive that they don’t understand salmon can’t thrive in water that’s 78-85 degrees. Water sold to vineyards and the Central Valley is just more profitable then preserving our native stock salmon and steelhead. The Sacramento Valley river systems use to be the 2nd or 3rd most abundant salmon runs in the Pacific Northwest, I believe it was 1. Columbia river, 2. Sacramento River, 3. Klamath river. The runs and fishing use to be awesome, then not to mention our small costal rivers use to be full of fish. But now days even on open years, usually it’s not even worth while. Sorry for the rant. Just so passionate and freaking mad that these fish I build my life and my year around, is just gone. So I’m definitely gonna take you up on journeying up that way. For one to shake your hand and thank you for the jigs last year, but also just to have a change at seeing that amazing part of the country and having a shot at catching some fish.
