On June 18th, 2017, Stockton Firefighters responded to back to back working commercial structure fires. These fires occurred during a week long, triple digit heat wave. Stockton Firefighters worked quickly to contain the first blaze with minimal damages to a charitable organization. The second fire was out of control upon arrival, and a complete loss after extinguishment.
Fire Crews committed to an exterior hose stream while gaining entry to the building. The structure is known by firefighters to have an unusual floor plan and potential for heavy fire load. The Gospel Mission was currently closed, making forcible entry a consideration on delaying interior fire attack. An associate on scene opened a rear roll-up door, which Firefighters gained access and made the remaining fire attack. Truck Firefighters performed vertical ventilation, while the fire was being extinguished. Firefighters remained on scene to perform salvage and overhaul. The quick knock-down of the fire and aggressive tactics saved much of this charitable organization's donations, administrative filings, cold storage, and more.
Firefighters were still on scene (working in hundred degree heat) when a second, working commercial structure fire occurred several blocks away. Many fire crews cleared to head to the second structure fire.
The second fire can be viewed here:

Really like the way you explain what's going on with titles instead of voice over! Outstanding camera work and post production.

That chainsaw you guys have are a lot more effective than the one I used for cutting down a stubborn tree that was going to fall on the house a stormy day or night.

That a side line looks like it hurt the fire bad. Most other videos show companies ignoring that fire while working access through the front door. That few minutes made a difference.

Nice video and description. Only one correction I noted. That ladder that was beam raised was only a 24' or 28' ladder. Not a 35'. 35' ladders have two flys and a base section. That ladder only had one fly section.

Jesse Welch Thank You for your concern, but no correction needed. That was a 35 foot extension ladder. It had one fly, one bed- each section is 20 feet long with 14 rungs per section on 14 inch centers. It weighs 122 lbs. It is made by DuoSafety out of Oshkosh Wisconsin.

StocktonFireHistory I guess I've never seen a single fly 35' ladder. My mistake.

Why didn't they vent the skylite before cutting roof quicker and more effective vent unless I missed something
@stevenkelly9731
@stevenkelly9731 5 лет назад
Could be because of it being a large warehouse they vented directly over the fire on Alpha side...I don't know thought I was not there.

during FF ops, we work to minimize damage to the structure. Breaking the skylight would be faster, but would cost more $$ to repair rather than a small patch job. Plus broken glass is a hazard.

Any reason why that $$million dollar piece of apparatus wasn’t raised to the roof?
@paintballgaming1090
@paintballgaming1090 5 лет назад
Turd Ferguson It would have been more time efficient to put a ground ladder up as well as easier and I couldn’t completely see it but possibly power lines in the way as well
