BJ McLeod was so close. 😢😢😢 He was running top 5. I haven't seen a no sponsor car run inside the top 5. He was so close until the big one happened. Give BJ McLeod a sponsor after that performance.
Am I the only one whose heart broke for BJ and legitimately teared up? I slid off my couch and had my head in my hands. I hear he had a sponsor lined up if he made it in. I really hope they will sponsor him at Atlanta and we can get more support from RCR, HMS, and Chevy. Dude is a beast and one of the nicest guys. I met him at Dover in 2019. Dude gave me the biggest hug when I asked for his autograph. We need more guys like him. I hope you see this comment.
I was really impressed by the 44 and 78. Based on their qualifying speed I expected them to lose the draft but they never lost it all night and it came down to the wire. Everyone on both teams should be extremely proud.
That Blaney hit was vicious. Maybe the tier 1 boost with Ford is legit, because that 34 looked strong in either line. I'm glad he avoided a near wreck due to Hamlin's bonehead block. Kudos to that 36 too.......holla for Grala!
@@driverslqqk7940 You are an example of insecurity making you say ridiculous things. Denny Hamlin is the best driver in Nascar and i dont like Denny Hamlin like what. They seriously gotta take the bumpers and fenders off these cars man yall literally, cry any time, i mean anytime they have to be used. OMG he commited a bad block at Daytona... its only been happening since restrictor plates and literally what Dale was doing when he was killed... yall are fkin cry babies throw this sport away. Yall want teams to be able to pay for wins and no touching... like hello F1 exists?
I was also super impressed with both Rick Ware Racing cars who were both able to move through the field. Haley and Herbst might be their best ever duo to run a Daytona 500. Herbst was even leading the line for a while.
yeah oddly enough the 15 was prepped by SHR as Herbst is one of their drivers, and the 51 was standard RWR/RFK alliance fare if I understand correctly. Cool to see them both very competitive, and encouraging signs for both parties
Front Row moving up to tier 1 support, and rumors that Honda is wanting to move to Nascar... seems like SHR is inevitably going to switch manufacturers
Gotta salute Eric standing in pit lane. I think you said you started this in your dorm room, to see you standing there and all the other amazing things, I love it. You basically forced your way in the game with dedication
BJ McLeod looks like any other local short track racer with the blank black car and simpson firesuit. Seeing him be competitive in the Cup Series is amazing. I want more of that
Eric I can’t believe you didn’t pick McDowell to make the playoffs. He is definitely going to win a race this year. Also that was a dirty and over aggressive block by Hamlin. If McDowell had not bailed there would have been another wreck thanks to Denny.
I will say this. BJ only needed for Grala to not beat both him and Ragan. Not him needing to beat both since Grala failed to make a qualifying lap. But still Hats off the McLeod, he fought hard.
Bj McLeod had a great car we ran up front all day and where in the top 5 and top 10 all day and got wrecked by someones shitty move. Bj McLeod finished 14th #Getloudformcleod
These were the best duel races in years. Great racing on track and storylines, intriguing battles to make the big race, and unfortunately a big wreck that Blaney took another big hit from. Hope Blaney will be ok from that 1.
Has NASCAR seeded you with a hard card this year? If not they need to. You’ve built a tremendous brand that benefits NASCAR immensely with RU-vid. Enjoy the weekend!
It was cool to run into tonight coming by the media center! I was shocked how tall you are! Lol. Sorry my two little kids were so shy. Couple of good races.
I was floating on the idea of watching but couldn’t because I was busy with my Birthday Festivities as I turned 30 today. Your editing has improved BIG TIME Eric and I’m proud of you for that! Can’t wait to see more of these Race Reviews the rest of the year!
@@milogunther5024 Thanks Milo! It’s happened to me a lot over the years as a NASCAR fan as far as my Birthday being RaceDay including my 1st year in 2001 with this exact same race + I even had one of my drivers win on my Birthday in 2020 that being Gragson. Consider yourself subbed my dude! 🤝🙏
Fox’s broadcast was great! Did a great job with the cameras having one on the win and one on the battle with jj and Jimmie. They did a great job surprisingly lol
Blaney was upset understandably but he help caused that by side drafting Byron in the tri oval and causing him to lose momentum, Busch tried to slow down but he came upon him too fast, plus he was getting pushed from behind.
My top 10 current superspeedway driver ranking 1. Denny Hamlin 2. Ryan blaney 3. Brad k 4. Chase Elliot 5. Bubba 6. Joey Logano 7. Willy B 8. Eric jones 9. Ricky stenhouse 10. Micheal McDowell
Hearing about Front Row getting Full Ford support and a deep Penske alliance is the best news of the day . McDowell is a serious racer and deserves full Factory support
I was riding Jimmie's camera and radio he was literally screaming I need f****** help! I thought he wasn't gonna make it. Tht last lap was a clutch move. Glad he made it. Brad caused a big one AGAIN!😂
I think Yeley kidnapped the biff, tied him up, sent that tweet with Gregs phone and took his suit to race in the Daytona 500. Gotta admire the effort 👌
Happy Jimmie got in knew it was gonna be long shot for bj but was pulling for him listened to his scanner whole race man that was heartbreak but extremely impressive for him hope we see him back soon again
I was really impressed with both JJ and BJ- I didn’t expect those cars to even be able to hang in the draft and for them to be in there with a shot at the end. Hell, JJ was ahead of Jimmie until the stack up and BJ ran top5 for half the race! I never thought either of those scenarios were possible. I earned a lot of respect for BJ tonight. Hope we see him at the other plate tracks.
I feel for Blaney and totally get why he’s pissed. I listened to a commentary on another channel during which they literally tried to place the blame on him and had to wonder which race were they talking about.
@@mikehoncho3695 following me around RU-vid to react to old comments 🤣 I've been a fan and watched almost every top 3 race since I was 5, so if that's what you consider "casual" I dunno what to tell you
Small correction: I was Kaz Grala who needed to beat both McLeod and Regan to make the race. Because McLeod beat Grala in pole qualifying (due to Grala’s car breaking down), he only needed Grala to not finish best of the three
Jimmie paid to play this year. As in, LMC/NASCAR made a "considerable contribution" to NY Racing, and Yeley coincidentally got an itchy arm coming out of four and that abomination of a restart.
I think Byron could have jump out of line after he lost momentum from blocking Blaney to prevent the accident. Just like how McDowell got out of line later in the race to prevent an accident after he was blocked by Denny. I don’t think BK could see what’s going on ahead of him he was locked on to KB to which they caught up to Byron who is going slower and ended up bumping Byron and then right rearing Blaney into the wall. But what do I know.
The fox broadcast was good. Kevin Harvick did great Kevin did so good that I wish it was only Mike and Kevin in the booth. Clint Bowyer sometimes annoys me or most of the time he annoys me he cuts guys off a lot. But it was nice having someone in the booth that really has a good grasp on what it’s like to drive these next GEN cars.
I know that the duels were nail-biting because there was only 1 transfer spot, but I can't help think that the 500 should be a 43 car field, it was before and what better way to make it more special by it being an event where they allow a special number of entries & clearly some of the regular teams are open to fielding additional cars with both RFK, Legacy & FRM all doing it this year & last year 23XI, Kaulig both doing it. Teams like Beard & Live Fast look like they are going to be regulars at the 500 so the more the merrier and with more transfer spots available even more teams might bring additional entries and make the duels even more epic
2:12 JJ Yeley not having his own firesuit and having to wear Greg Biffle's from 2 years ago, proves that the team didnt pay greg biffle his dues... team doesnt evem have money for a fire suit
Awesome races today for sure! Just curious, what races are you planning on going to this yr? I’m going to Talladega in April and if you and the other NWP guys are going I’d be happy to say hi
Good run by McLeod, but I was more heartbroken for Yeley, he had it, was right in front of Jimmie in turn 4, should've stayed in line. Also, shoutout Carson Hocevar, good run and starts top 10 (9th) on raceway.
@@user-ed1yx2fq7l true but there's also the chance he wouldn't be. Plus NY Racing likely only has one car and if it gets destroyed then it doesn't matter if you made the 500 or not
Burton and Cindric aren't teammates lol. Burton drives for the Wood Brothers with Penske support. That's like saying Front Row is Penske teammates this year with their new alliance
Omg, I'm so glad I'm not the only one to notice this. The 44 threw his position, so the 84 could make the 500. The 44 was on the outside with the 84 being blocked by the 1, then all of a sudden, the 44 tucked behind the 84, then behind the 19 for good measure! He couldn't have been more obvious he was conceding to Jimmy Johnson. Now I know Nascar is fixed! The reason why I say this is because joy and bowyer didn't mention anything about the move Yeley did. They played it off like they didn't see it! Joy is the play by play commentator, yet he didn't comment on that move Yeley performed to get behind Jimmy. FIXED!
@@BeingKyleBusch18 dude what 😭 yeley tried to make a move to pass jimmie and it just didnt work, thats not rigging a race????? you see those moves all the time and sometimes it fails sometimes it doesnt, yeley tried and failed, it is what it is, its not rigging.
I hope Jimmy wins this year. Not because I'm a die hard, but because people act like you're all but washed up once you hit 40. So many factors go into poor performance. Age is way on down the list.
I've been telling everyone for years that JJ Yeley is INCREDIBLY underrated. To jump into an NY Racing Chevy and to be honest outrace Jimmie Johnson. Insane. I love Jimmie but JJ should be in the race.
Is this the first time the duals paid points? Wonder if that’s why the racing was so much better during tonight’s duals vs the past ones. The racing was phenomenal. BJ was on fire tonight running in the top 5. I hate that he got knocked out for Sunday.
Jimmy needs to offer J.J. a full time contract in the 84 but change number to 44 maybe 45 or another old Petty related number after that nailbiter performance
