Today was another hectic day on the mountain we are going full throttle to keep up with Mother Nature’s fury it’s been one heck of a ride see how today went for us.
I take my hat off to you guys. Everyone you clear snow for must be so thrilled when you arrive. You sure make snow removing exciting. Be safe and keep moving that snow were it si out of the way for people to move around. The videos are great. 😎
As far as you are from parts,as a farmer and live at least 30 miles from town.we always kept spare alternators ,belts, fuel filters, oil filters ,hyd filters ect.good luck with the snow.we get lots of drifting snow, but not like you have.
kudos to you all. i am sitting in my warm flat in germany, drinking coffee and stipping a croissant into it and watch how hard you are working. if i wore a hat, i would take it off. god bless you all. and also lets go brandon and maga
Don't sweat the battery, live and learn. Only becomes an issue if it happens again. Also, you should look into camera mounts so you don't have to hold it while you're driving.
Thank you for posting this series of videos. I'm glad I'm going up this Thursday instead of earlier. The town looks very well maintained compared to even a few days ago. This also shows what I can expect when I arrive.
Thanks for the memories…I spent many hours in the cab of a Case front end loader removing snow from the 60 unit Courchevel Condominiums. This was during a record breaking snow fall season of 1982 and 1983…small stuff when compared with what you are up against. My wife and I were the managers of Courchevel and were provided with a small Case 14 front end loader to keep the 60 units clear. My assistant manager and myself found it almost impossible but we some how made it work. Yeah, we’re really old but have fond memories of many years of skiing that great mountain, fishing the Owens, Fourth of July parades and just being part of a great community.
Killer footage!! Love the roofing vid! Really appreciate you taking time to shoot all the vids! Especially w/ so much work needed to get done. Hey from NC!
I believe I've watched every video you've posted since snow started, I give it to you for actually uploading daily, so many youtubers don't.. Still amazed the amount of snow you are getting.. I'm in lake effect area in Michigan and thought we got some snow, nope
I gotta say... I got to work for four years on the Alaska Pipeline and it was a riot. Lotsa fun learning from some of the best guys and, working 117 ( got pd travel while sleeping on the bus ride to the worksite about four hours) hours one week I made $1,500+ . At 19 yo that was huge cash then
IN the early 70s my family owned a condo unit right on the NW corner of Main St and Minaret Rd, and I recall some EPIC snowstorms up there, particularly Thanksgiving weekend in 1970. Back then Mammoth lakes had a permanent resident population of 800 people. Last trip I took up there last winter I didn't know the place. Full-service city now. But just as beautiful as it always was. Eastern Sierra is my go-to place in California, all seasons -- all the way from the Mojave Desert to Mono Lake. God's Country -- no other place in the world like it, especially during an epic winter for snowfall.
Incredible snow and incredible good work clearing it. Amazing work and great workers keeping the roads and driveways open. Thank You for job well done.
Been watching your videos last couple weeks. WOW, fantastic perspective of what happens when Mother Nature wants to send some snow. TY! Born, raised and have lived in California all my life, as has my husband, and this last few weeks of powerful rain and heavy winds - in our area - is something!! You should put in a POBox address for "fans of your channel" to send you things. Another reason to keep those parking lots at the post office clear of the white stuff! Best wishes to you and your team and again, thanks for your RU-vid videos! Cheers from Cupertino, California
I forgot about living in lots of snow and the cold. It is important to leave lots of room between vehicles in the heavy snow. Everyone has to clean their vehicles and need room to slide a little even in a parking space. Compact parking spaces are not your friend in heavy snow. Worst of all: I remember being at work all day in northeastern wisconsin with temps near or under zero. Yes temps under 0 degrees F..There were days of more with the high temps still near under zero. After your vehicle sits for 8 hours under or near zero the battery is very weak and your oil very thick. Many cars will not start because of the intense cold. Usually, it will not snow with temps under zero degrees F. It usually has to be warmer than zero for snow. Yes, we had days or more with temps near and under zero. The Eskimo people have words to describe over 30 different types of snow. Even growing up in wisconsin, I remember many different textures and densities of snow depending on the temperatures at different levels in the sky and air. I remember temps just under 32 degrees F and the snow was very dense and heavy. Snow at temps much colder is much lighter and less dense.
I have been enjoying watching your team remove the snow. I have respect for the guy's on the rooftops. They are exposed to the weather it does take a special breed of people to do. May God bless all of you and watch over everyone. Stay safe love watching your channel and content. ❤🇨🇦
The snow used to be 15 feet deep on the ground, in the Adirondacks each winter, back in the 70s. Not any more. Love to see this ! (Sorry Donner Party …)
That's my favorite kind of snow...somewhere away from me and someone else's problem! 😂 The work you guys do is just amazing and I'm glad there are people like you willing to do it.
Ive driven a tractor with a blade on it 3 point hitch in the winter in my state but our average snow fall is 8" to 10" and 100% humidity and temp at +10 with -5wind chill- watching u guys makes me glad i live in Arkansas lol- our record snow fall was set 2 years ago at 16" lol- and yes it takes a special kinda person to get out in ur kinda weather and shovel deep snow
I sure don't envy your job. Just watching you face the brutal elements makes me want to pull out another blanket. You are a blessing. Stay warm, & safe!
Espero que hayas hecho hiking o backpacking, eso es la mejor experiencia que puedas tener de ese lugar. Es hermoso estar arriba de esas montañas caminando y viendo esos lagos cristalinos
When my buddies used to shovel off roofs in Sun Valley 40 years ago, they always shoveled the snow onto a sheet of plastic so snow would slide off the roof. It made it a lot easier.
Thanks for all these videos the last couple weeks, it so crazy to see where your working at and then look it up on Google maps looks so different with no snow
Man..i live in Southern Utah, do Landscaping/Snow removal..Ive got 17 days in so far this season and i have never had to do something like that..hats off to you and your crew..its feast or famine in this business bro!!
Is it possible you might show photos or footage of the areas you are clearing such as the post office lot and what neighborhood streets looked like before the snow fell? Awesome job btw clearing the streets and filming your work... Thank you for sharing 👍👍 much enjoyed!
Those breakfast sandwiches at Schat's are awesome!!! The snow crews rock in Mammoth! I was tired from shoveling the snow off our balcony on Sunday. Can't complain after watching your guys clear that roof.
Great stuff!! I just found your channel and it looks awesome. Finally someone else that deals with snow similar to us here in Canada 🇨🇦 I’ll admit that wind certainly does change the game with the deep drifting and settling in like cement. Here the season is somewhat longer and quite a bit colder by virtue of our location so our melting doesn’t get going till late march…we still get shots of deep heavy into early May though. I’ve been building and racing off-road trucks for many years now and I could give you a little tip on 4x4 tires in the snow….put all those wide tires away! Those are sand/mud application only(also depending on tread patterns)…you want to get the skinniest, tallest, softest compound tires you can find. You must have great suppliers there as so many of my tires come from down there as it happens. Don’t use too tight of a tread but something open enough to grip and still clean. Tight treads want to float like skis anyways..but I’m certain you’d know that. Because I use a tall skinny(for snow plowing as well) for the snow application mine are also studded. I see people using chains there..I’ve only ever had to use chains when I go(plow) off road or in really extreme conditions. Some of the size(wide) tires I saw on your jeeps I would only use on vehicles five to fifteen tons in the snow. It’s all about the psi to the ground. Give it a try, I think you will be quite happy and surprised where you can go. Looking forward to more of your videos. All the best from your 🇨🇦 neighbour. 👋👋👍🫡
The videos just keep getting better. Maybe you could give some pointers to the department of interior , i just witnessed a 4 day fiasco over 9" of snow on the East coast. Definitely a kick ass crew out in a blizzard 🥶. Stay safe and warm.
Your crew is badass at snow manipulating. Looks like some powder for once this month eh? Nice of the sun to let you know it's on the way later this week. Stay Safe Stay Strong
I love your videos. So beautiful where you are. You had your guys clearing the roofs. Have you considered using small snow blowers up there to clear snow off. Work smart not hard. You guys work hard enough. I’m 69 yrs old and now want to visit your area and play in the snow.
You seem to have a great group of guys working for you. Do you all rent at the same place. Great videos. Thank you for putting in the time with longer videos and building your channel. Looking forwards to your spring and summer videos. Hoping that your channel grows quickly
((( really titanic work and I am amazed to see this work to clear all this snow.... congratulations for your commitment and this work...... I send you lots of energy and positive vibes from the east of France 🤗👍👍👍))))
Maybe shovel the doorway at Schats while your sandwiches are built? I cooked at Shatzees (no longer there, absorbed by Schats) and the Breakfast Club. My doorways were always clear or getting there before 6 and they never paid for a meal. Hearing the 1845 knocking down the berm got me out of bed. Then about 7 I would hear him growling down the alley and I would get his breakfast plate together. Cool footage. Davidson, what great entertainment!
People don't seem to realize how much it costs to keep winter snow equipment running. Every piece of equipment has to be maintained constantly or it will break down. That huge CAT front end loader can move and pile up snow. It has to be very expensive to keep running well. Replacing it must be near or over $200,000. It is a great piece of equipment to move and pile up the heavy snows. We can only imagine the cost of diesel fuel to keep this piece of equipment running all day. I bet many replacement parts for that loader may not even be in Bishop. You may have to go to Carson City or Reno or Los Angeles to get them. When we lived in northeastern wisconsin our neighbor owned and operated a dump truck company with over 6 trucks and a big front end loader. One winter in the mid 1960s we had a very heavy snowfall. That morning his loader appeared to clear out his driveway. He came to us next door and moved a huge amount to snow from our driveway pushed up be the huge city road grader blocking our drive way.
I grew up in Alberta Canada but now live outside East of Seattle. I know about wet snow. We bought an EV snoShovel. It works somewhat but because of the wetness factor, something a little more substantial was needed. We are in our late fifties so old fashioned snow shovel is a little more challenging. Hubby took care of that. I hope he enjoys the EV Toro so much he'll do a fair amount of the road. The county shovels and sands our road but my goodness they sure made pot holes. I like the look of those jeeps. By the way, things are going to get really bad. If you don't believe in Jesus, now is a very good time.
You guys are getting hammered with the snow and us in Central Pennsylvania haven't received squat. Keep the videos rolling and making snow people jealous. I hope this snow helps with California's water issues..
Just crazy, how do you keep ahead of all that! Years ago I used have to drive 395 , loved stopping for the night in mammoth, in summer! I live in the Philippines now . Nice and toasty.
This stuff is a dream man! Amazing stuff always have loved snow and cold weather. So awesome Here in Indiana our winter weather has disappeared the last 10 years I miss it. Would love to afford to live out there!
That is impressive. I'm taking a guess that the snow will still be around up there into late June. Be safe! Bet everyone is burning off 10,000 cal's a day doing that work.
It's just like home and I live in northernmost Sweden, just a few miles from the Arctic Circle. You get used to blowing snow and we have about 3 months of winter left.
Used to work for the company that fills the bulk propane tanks that heat the city. Reno -> Mammoth lakes, 9,000 gallons at a time. Sometimes we'd bring loads from Kansas, Utah, Arizona... you name it. Hard to keep up with.
No big deal with the windshield wipers. Be safe. Used go up there in the mid 50's & 60s Brings back fond memories. Definitely more people up there now.
This is as close to what I think that the North Pole was like when Santa was still there! Although I feel bad for those that are stranded and can’t dig out but man o man I absolutely LOVE doing what you’re doing! You’re doing what I do here in Northwestern Illinois buuuuut you’re having to get creative with where you can put that much snow! I live the vids of the snowstorms and the snow hanging off the Pines! ❤❤❤
They have items for your vehicles that will restart your vehicle once the engine gets to a certain temperature. Please try to investigate. Please take care and stay 👍👍👍
I have to say I'm surprised to see so many low-pitched roofs in Mammoth Lakes. I kinda figured building codes would require A-frames on all buildings, not just residences.
Great to see how everyone is so used to deep snow, Bakery is open, hardware store still has shovels. Living in NC if they say it's going to snow, people lose their minds and stock up on everything, then it snows an inch and melts by lunch.
These are fun to watch. Both my dad and brother worked for the County as foremen and operators. They ran all kinds of equipment; including snow maintenance. Question about the jeep. Do you run snow tires or just air down?
Well a whole bunch of us appreciate your video efforts. Question if I may. My brother worked at a DO IT BEST hardware store in Mammoth some years ago. Did they become an Ace? Or are there two or more hardware stores in Mammoth? In our town the Coast to Coast hardware changed to an Ace. So I know it happens. Good work on these videos. I think you cover things well. Even the battery problem. Thank you. P.S. Schats! Yum!
3:09 is why the coyotes and owls are a necessary thing, even though coyotes aren't a favorite of people. Bobcats are great at keeping the rodent populations in check also.
