Welcome to my intuitive eating back to basics series. Each day for 10 days I'll release a new episode, guiding you through one of the intuitive eating principles. I’ll explain what it means, why it is important, and how it applies in real life.
To become an intuitive eater we first have to totally reject diet culture. If you still have the idea that you want to diet in the back of your head you can’t truly lean into intuitive eating.
Diet culture is all those messages around us that tell us we’re not good enough as we are. You might be surprised when you start to look into it just how much diet culture messaging is around us, being soaked up by our subconscious.
Today I’m going to help you to spot sneaky diet culture, and start to reject it.

So much to think about after watching this episode, especially how many diets I've been on in my life (loads), and to acknowledge that none of them have "worked." I have so many disordered beliefs around food, diets, restriction, body/weight shame. I'm anxious to see the other videos in this series. Thank you for putting this series together.

You're very welcome. Unfortunately it is those diets that create all those disordered beliefs, but they can be undone and replaced by new ones, I promise. Had you heard about intuitive eating before or are you brand new to it?

@@terripughcoaching I've heard the term "Intuitive Eating" before but was, honestly, always afraid of the concept. I'm intrigued now though. It's something I intend to explore. I'm so tired of the endless diet cycle.

@@roberbro I had the same experience. I'd heard about it, thought about it, joined some groups, but really doubted it. I did not understand it, but looking back I wasn't ready for it. You have to be in the place where you believe you're ready for a different approach. I know that it's a daunting prospect, having no plan to follow, but it's so freeing.
