Welcome to my intuitive eating back to basics series, inspired by a podcast listener.
I heard that you need some easy to digest explanations of the 10 principles of intuitive eating. A way to understand them, without having to read the whole intuitive eating book, or wade through the internet to find what you need.
And so, the intuitive eating back to basics series was born!
Each day for 10 days I'll release a new episode, guiding you through one of the intuitive eating principles. I’ll explain what it means, why it is important, and how it applies in real life.
I'm really excited to see what this next 10 days or so brings you, and how differently you feel about the intuitive eating principles come the end of it. Do keep in touch and let me know your thoughts.
So let’s get into it, starting with an understanding of what the principles of intuitive eating are.
Intuitive eating says there should be no rules, so it can be confusing to see that there are 10 principles of intuitive eating. If they aren’t rules, then what are they?

I really need this just now!! I am at the stage where I am literally following a different 'diet' plan every day! SW one day, WW the next, cal counting the next, you know what I mean. I'm not sleeping as its messing with my head so much. I'm lying awake wondering how I can 'tweak' whatever plan Im supposed to be doing so its easier to follow for example how can I have cereal for breakfast then a roll for lunch if I'm following SW? I'm honestly in a mess with it all. As a result, I'm just eating everything in sight, to 'get it out the way and start tomorrow'. Yesterday, I watched the 2 podcasts with Sue Hargreaves. Omg it was so eye opening!! I feel so angry with myself, but somehow, not so much of a failure. As a result, yesterday I just ate 'normally'. Not gorging, just normal as I vaguely remember it 40 years ago. Thank you. I can't wait to watch this series, and binge watch your previous podcasts. Thank you for being here xx

Ahh Glenda, don't be angry at yourself. You have been failed by these companies. They create plans that are not sustainable and are designed to keep you coming back. Take your anger, get mad at diet culture, and find a better way for yourself. I really hope you find the rest of the series helpful and that you are able to become a more intuitive eater. @terripughcoaching Hi Terri. Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. I can totally understand understand what you are saying. I lost about 2 stone a couple of years ago, the last few pounds were due to illness and I was in hospital. I got out hospital and had a wedding the following day. I remember hearing myself in my head saying it was good I'd had a day and a half with no food so my dress fitted perfectly, and thinking there was something so really wrong with that. When I said it out loud to my husband he said as much to me that I was being ridiculous. Its so frightening how we manage to get ourselves in this situation. Thank you again very much xx

And yet we think it's so normal at the time - scary isn't it. I'm glad you are able to recognise it though.
