I am still trying to catch up with fall cleaning besides taking care of the mess from the fallen black walnut tree. Meanwhile, planting new shrubs, spring bulbs, and creating something new here and there with the treasures I’ve hunted.
My allergies will not stop me going out into the garden… autumn is beautiful!

So sadden by the loss of your beautiful tree. I know it was a lot of work to get to all cleaned up and back in shape and was glad to see you were able to obtain help in the clean up from the storm . I’m sure I’m not alone when I say we’ve missed you this past month. Nice job in repurposing the logs into your design areas. Did the removal of your trees open up more sunny areas where as you’re gonna have to rearrange your shade loving plants? Glad you are getting back to what you love to do.

Hi Mary how are you doing? This is the season everything is on sale, from plants to pavers, I am so busy running around getting some good buys hahah! Although I’ve missed some autumn magic moments in my garden, but I know for the long run, I’ll achieve something. My husband started to give me some kind of looks, but sorry I can’t stop, I am a creative person! As thriving around here and there hunting for treasures, I feel like I am going for vacations, autumn in New England is so beautiful, I truly enjoy every moment when I am out. Yes, now I have some not so shady areas, a small dogwood tree is planted, some spring bulbs, maybe more later. As the Chinese said, I wish I have 3 heads and 6 arms😅😅😅

Are you finding the fall colors different this year? My area of northern Michigan appear to be more vibrant while lower Michigan drabber with less reds.

Yes, Catherine, I noticed every year is different. Last year wasn’t that great due to a dry summer, then this year is not that rich because all the rain we had through out the whole summer, but I have no complain, still, there are some beautiful moments in this season for us to enjoy. In a. Opulent of days, we will start to have frost nights, I was so busy with more spring bulbs plantings, I am sure you are too😊

@gardenofpraise567 Yes, I have planted some more tulips, daffodils, and irises. Mostly, my attention has been to help my husband with forest maintenance. We may have only 8.5 acres, but it has become mature. Last January, a State Forester came out and assessed that our woods can handle no more than ten years of growth. We are clearing what we can. We are the current guardians and want to pass down to our children a healthy property.
