Sometimes you just need to "Bring Back The Snap"

I've used Awesome Stuff.. a cheap dollar store degreaser, on my equipment. Spray it down and let it sit for a minute and then wipe it down before I put it away after each session. When I get 40 or 50 games on a ball I do my cheap detox at home with Dawn dishwashing liquid. I put a light coating on the ball surface and then I drop my chamois in a five gallon bucket, place the ball on top of them and then fill with lukewarm water just over the ball. I let it sit for 60 to 90 minutes before I remove it, rinse it, and dry it off. I dump the water and start fresh for each subsequent ball until all my equipment is done. I wring out the chamois and let them air dry. I can tell the difference whenever I do this as it brings them back to life and the reactions are more predictable. I can tell when it's time again when I starting getting the odd wiggle down lane or I lose the back end reaction. I have old (more than 20 year old) and new equipment and this works for all of it.

I mix pure alcohol and simple green at a 1:1 ratio. It’s a lot cheaper than the stuff on the market and it hasn’t let me down yet. I’ve used CTD before and it’s great but the cost is outrageous. And it smells and looks just like Fabuloso so it really makes you wonder. CTD life after death came out and Ronald took a ball and cleaned it with another brand and a rag… and it wasn’t doing the job. Then he uses CTD LAD with his CTD ball scrubber(an expensive thicker version of a magic eraser) and of course it did a better job cleaning scuffs off the ball. But magic erasers are pretty cheap compared to his product. Now the one thing I do like about CTD are the sanding pads and his many videos reviewing bowling balls.

I detox with dawn dish soap and salt once a year. rub it on, let it sit 10 minutes, rinse off with around 90 degree F water. As for regular surface maintenance, simple green and alcohol to clean after each use, CTD pads with water to resurface by hand after 3 to 10 games (the more oil on the lane, the less often the ball track needs touchups) IF i have to polish, that is done on a spinner.

I use a NuBall for detoxing. I have a spinner that attaches to my hand drill for sanding and polishing and they work very well. I polish balls ever 9 games or so. I sand less often, every two months as I bowl three ties a week.

I use a spinner to clean the balls I use after every time I bowl. After cleaning with That X Factor or Storm's Reacta Clean, I adjust the surface depending on the where I bowl using Abralon Pads, Storm's Reacta Skuff, Brunswick's Reaction Recharge and/or Motiv's Power Gel Polish 5000 Rating. By using a polyester ball for most spares, I am able to get more games out of a strike ball before it loses its drive.

Would you mind doing a bowling ball surfacing video where you compare ball preparation and ball reaction using: Abralon Pads, SiaAir Pads and TruCut (CTD/Creating the Difference) sanding pads? According to CTD if you have a ball that has an out of the box finish of 500/3000 (i.e. Vapor Zone Hybrid) or 500/1500/3000 (i.e. Raw Hammer Black), all you have to do is use the 3000 pad to get to the desired out of the box finish as opposed to using multiple Abralon or SiaAir pads to get to the desired final grit finish. I would be very appreciative and interested in what your results are. You guys have a great RU-vid Channel! Keep up the good work! Thanks!

Put it in the dishwasher with detergent and take it out after rinse. No dry cycle. Maytag Detox. I use ball cleaner after every session on my reactive balls. Buy a ball spinner if you are serious, they're worth it. Watch Ron Hickland on how to resurface with a spinner.

Yup been doing the Dishwasher Detox for years. Normal wash air dry. If the balls are really dirty I also set in 1/2 cup white vinegar on the top rack. Makes my Volt and Flux look and feel like new.

I wish you would have done a resurface first. Then a detox. How much was the actual resurface vs. the detox? Seems the resurface gave it Teeth to get traction sooner vs. the actual detox, but would have been curious to see old ball, resurface, resurface + detox comparison.
@Liluzibertgg

Detox definitely helps. I had my old ball I got in November resurfaced and it was back to hooking like normal for a few games but since I didn’t get a detox all that oil was still in the cover. I need to get it detoxed because everytime I bowl now it’s great for the first couple games then it starts to lose grip.
@chriswebbtech
@chriswebbtech 2 года назад
@@Liluzibertgg that’s probably more due to the heads / fronts of lane burning up
@Liluzibertgg
@Liluzibertgg 2 года назад
@@chriswebbtech that was my first thought initially but the fact that my shammy doesn’t remove oil anymore after the first few games I think my ball is saturated with oil and I just need a detox. The shammy just moves oil around the surface of my ball I even struggle to grip it when I start my approach.

I think you should have done the twst with JUST the detox. This would eliminate the resurfacing factor.

Occasionally I'll leave my balls in a hot car, usually by accident, which bakes the oil out. Not sure if this actually good for the ball.

I've bought myself a Trend 2, and have played over 130 games with it, and the motion i see is very round and weak. It looks like a completly different ball. I've been to my proshop guy, that has very good reviews, and resurfaced it... but it still wont hook like it should. Is there anything I can do to make it work better?
@odellus
@odellus 2 года назад
detox to get the deep oil out. some balls just do that, though. you could try sanding it down to 4000 or 3000 instead of box polish.
@Benny-uv7jf
@Benny-uv7jf 2 года назад
@@odellus Ok thanks, will try that if a complete resurface won't work.
@frankschmidt8001
@frankschmidt8001 2 года назад
You could try CTD 1500 or 2000. I did that to my Halo pearl, which was box 1500 polish (equivalent to about 5000 grit measured) Has a more rounded shape now, but it's ok-first ball on the fresh. Then I switch to a new polished ball after a game or so. This is assuming a 3 ball arsenal with plastic used for some spares.
