I am so motivated to go to stock up for my first year teaching. When I was a kid my dad would take me to Lakeshore, I didn’t realize it was a teacher store, I thought it was a toy store. My dad was so smart, always looking out for my learning.
Hahaha, thank you Kristin! Here's the back story... on the day I filmed this, the feels-like temperature was 115 degrees outside and our air conditioner had broke the day before. It was over 90 degrees in our house, plus I had hot lights on me while I was filming. I was drinking a blue slushy drink to stay cool 🥵I'm happy you enjoyed the video!
This is the first time I've seen the people color pencils. I may not use them but I'll definitely share this with my art teacher. I'm almost positive she would love them.
I've recently decided to become a elementary school teacher. And watching your videos are so inspiring. Your the kind of teacher I vision myself becoming. As well as a teacher I wish I had in fourth grade. When I finally get my own classroom, I'll definitely come back are rewatch your videos😊
Teachers definitely shouldn't HAVE to spend their own money to provide for their students. Unfortunately, this isn't the reality for many teachers. We ultimately want to provide the best educational experiences for our students and are willing to spend our own money to make it happen. It's a great thing that teachers are so willing to sacrifice but it is also something that needs to be improved.
Thank you for a helpful video, as always! I liked the large digital timer the most because it frees up the interactive whiteboard, as you mentioned. I wish you best of luck as you prepare for the next school year. I am in the process of sorting through some of my supplies to determine what I still need to buy. Take care, Michelle! 😊
This video was so fun! Your excitement for the new school year is so genuine and infectious. I'm going into my next semester of grad school and you've got me so excited!!
Mind blown. I have been teaching almost thirty years and have never been to a Lakeshore store. I thought it was strictly a catolog company. Thank you for your great picks.
Your videos are awesome! I am a homeschooling mom and I love your energy and ideas. I love that you share the good and the bad of being a teacher. I shared your channel and your advice to first time teachers video with a local teacher I met. She was looking for books for her classroom and so I had her come to take the extra books I had. She told me this year will be her first year teaching. Of course I thought of how awesome your content was and sent her links. Thanks for these videos!! -Tanya
I want to say thank you. I’m just about to start my second year and I get major performance anxiety when it comes to teaching. Thinking about school starting soon has left me restless and panicked! But watching your videos reminds me of how excited I get to do what I’m doing. You’re helping me get back in the swing! 💛💛💛 thank you!
I'm a teacher in Canada and this is my first year teaching 4 grade i have In the past past i have teached Kindergarten, Grade 1 , Grade 2 and Grade 3 and this channel is such a help!!
I just discovered your channel a few weeks ago, and I absolutely love it! You have such a great personality and an amazing attitude towards teaching. I'm going to be starting my first year of college in August on the Early Childhood Education track. I happen to find your channel when searching for videos about teachers' experience. You are such an inspiration, and I consider you a mentor. Thank you! :) I hope you have an amazing school year!!!
Going back and rewatching this because your meet and greet today was just beyond amazing and I need inspo for what I am going back to Lakeshore to get! Also, didn't get a chance to tell you, I love love love the new filming setup, so glad all your hard work decorating and setting everything up payed off!
wow aha you seem like such an amazing teacher. i always can pin the very year where i fell behind and really stopped caring about learning and really school as a whole.... something i really hate within myself now as an adult. but anyways aha it was the fourth grade! it was a horrible year for me academically and i didn't have a teacher that was as half as approachable and caring you seem to be. i can honestly say you are probably creating such a fun and healthy learning environment! just wow
I absolutely love lakeshore! Amazing, cute, and quality products!! I hope you’re enjoying your summer Michelle. I’m back to school in 2 weeks as a long term sub while I wait to pass my last certification exam, then begin my intern program! 😀💗
Love your videos. Watched your video and did a four mile run after. My favorite item is the scratch and sniff stickers. Pizza does have a scent!! Love the multiplication tower game!! I’ve got goodies for you, Billy, and your classroom (including a fun flex seating option I hope your students will flip about). I’m trying to get up to lakeshore on Saturday but it is a three hour drive for me!!
I’ve been watching your videos since you first started your channel. It’s so awesome to see your channel grow & your editing skills improve! Favorite RU-vid teacher 💓
So much fun! It’s probably good there isn’t a store near me-I’d be broke! I love the math resources. The visuals are so helpful for so many kiddos. And Billy...pizza totally has a scent!!!! Also, my ESL teacher heart says yay for the people colored pencils! Thank you for bringing awareness to that need!
I'm glad you agree with me on the pizza smell, ha! Thank you so much for your kind words! P.S. my closest Lakeshore store is about an hour away and it is probably a good thing for me too, ha!
Hi from Kissimmee, Florida, Michelle! I am going to teach fourth grade this year, so I was very pleased that you posted this. My closest Lakeshore Learning store is about 20 miles away in Casselberry, Florida, so I am taking notes right now on the products you found that I think will aid my students. The first day I will be in my classroom is July 30th...school starts here in Osceola County on August 12th. Keep posting!!
Thank you so much Leila! I love the Kissimmee area! Best of luck to you as you return to school! We still have several weeks and I am trying to soak up every last minute.
I have to give you a big thanks, recently I began following you. I'm from Puerto Rico and looking for a teaching job in DC. I found your channel and your interview videos. Those videos helped me a lot.
Love that timer! I’m going to have to hunt for one in Canada! Also love all your books behind you. Some of my faves in there! (You know you’re obsessed when you can recognize a blurred out book spine!)
The timer is EVERYTHING! I have had it for a few years and it easy enough for students to use. Best purchase I ever made! Awesome haul Michelle, so excited to use my coupon code :)
Yesss! I can't wait to use the timer this year! It seems so perfect. I'm happy to hear that you like it! Thank you for your kind words and you are more than welcome for the coupon code!
Love everything♡♡♡Lakeshore♡♡♡☆☆☆ downside is unfortunately, Lakeshore stores have always been very far away from where I've always lived no matter where its been (I move often). It's worth the travel when I'm able to make the road trip to go to the store in person once or twice a year.
I’m laughing at the blue tongue 😂 that’s great. I’m assuming the summer heat got you, a cold drink or frozen lollies perhaps? Haha. Love all the tips too! 🍎
I love Lakeshore's Grab and Go. They are super durable and engaging. I teach middle school math and my students are still struggling with their basic math facts. They didn't learn them in the younger grades, so I am always looking for resources to help.
They run amazing sales... especially this time of year! Plus, you get what you pay for. Their products are extremely durable and high quality so you don't have to replace them after a few months of use.
My old math teacher use to have the multiplication chart he would put a timer and we would need to fill it out and if we finished it by the timer was off we would get a prize. I just thought it would be a good idea for your student
Woah! Can all these comments just back up and mention the new video backdrop! Is it just me that was like “wait when did this happen”? I love the new video area Michelle!
Hahaha, thank you for noticing! I recently moved my filming area down to my basement because there's more space. I am loving the new set up and am happy to hear that you do as well!
Ahhhh! Who doesn’t love going to Lakeshore! Wait what??? You’re on a Sign at the entrance??? 🤭 I can’t wait to see what you get this year later today! 😍 BTW, I’m a 2nd and 3rd Grade Lifegroup Leader for my church’s kids ministry for 10:30 service! And now we have two Lifegroup leaders for that now! ❤️Aaron *Yes, I walk five minute from home to that campus of my church!
Lakeshore had been nicknamed by me as " The Teacher Store " since my childhood and now I'm becoming a teacher. I can't wait till I become a full certified teacher.
Thanks 4 the coupon! I love everything! If timers had a halfway warning beep or sound right before the time is up beep or sound would be great. I always give my students a warning before the time is up. Yes! The people colors are great! Apricot and tan always disappear quickly. 👍🙂👏
Love the skin color pencils! They appear to also be slightly thicker which is a good thing! Less likely to break! I teach many different ethnicities in my classroom and representing is super important. I have a lot of “stuff” after 30 years in the classroom but skin color tools are essential for the way we all teach today. I’m thinking about getting 10 packs, and creating a rainbow of skin colors, separating them out, containerizing, and displaying when not in use. I hope the investment lasts more years than one year though! I just like how thick they are! Need those for day one...August 19th! EEEK! 💚🍀
So excited for the upcoming school year. My school closed last year and i am looking for my next new challenge, but am encouraged that I will find something soon.
Oh and one more thing! I have a daughter who is attending a local private school this year. Have/ Could you do a video on back to school gifts every teacher would love to get? We got a list from the school but I have already thought of things that I didn't see on the list. The list didn't have facial tissues, paper towels, hand sanitizer, cleaning wipes... We want to do a bin with these items and we want to include a few things specifically for the teacher. We figured a couple of giftcards, a water bottle...but beyond that I'm just drawing a blank..
I love that store we can find Many useful things for school or Home. I bought few things for My daughter still have it. But I have a Bad memory w lackeshore hackensack one Day , with a female manager 2006.
In math my 4th grade teacher made us write our multiplication facts in a small note card and she would tell us the answer so we could write it our note card and when the whole thing was done one of us went up and the teacher lifted up one note card and we had to try to figure out as many as we can in 2 minutes and it helped me and a lot of other people with remembering the facts so u can use it in your classroom
Haha, in 5th grade my teacher had the same digital clock, but she wasn't very tech savvy so she didn't know how to clear it. I had to do it for her every time.... The first time I showed her how, she actually hugged me (yes, literally hugged me) because nobody had shown her how to use it the past three years and it was a pain, lololol.
That first pack of multiplication tables has sheets which are very thin. You might want to paste them to heavier card stock paper before laminating them. Yes, a timer is very helpful. When I give my students an assignment, I ask them how much time they need to complete it, and they come to a general consensus. It is their responsibility to honor that time, and many do.
The laminating sleeves I use with my personal laminator are much thicker than a standard laminator so I think they will be fine! I love the idea of having students decide on the amount of time they need. Thanks!
i’m going into high school this year and i’m doing a teaching class because i want to be a teacher! i forget what the program is called but i love your channel because its what made me decide to be a teacher! also maryland squad wya??💛😂
I love all the math resources. I teach 2 Math classes and 2 ELA classes in third grade. I teach in Canada and unfortunately we don't have a Lakeshore store.
Hey Michelle! I love watching your videos. I teach high school English (I think in the same county as you, I teach in Pasadena). I just thought I would reach out, say hi, and let you know that you are missing a letter in your description. I think you meant to say that the coupon is VALID, instead of alid. Looking forward to starting the new school year. ❤️❤️
It would be fun being a student in your class. To be honest, I don’t even remember what 4th grade was like for me, I just know that it was my worst school year ever. My little sister is entering 4th grade this year and I’m hoping she doesn’t do as bad as I did, however she is behind in math, but advanced in english. I was the complete opposite. She struggles with her multiplication and they were supposed to be learnt by 3rd grade. I learned them in kindergarten, and division in first. My sister on the other hand can’t seem to memorize them and at the school she goes to (the same one I used to attend) the teacher don’t teach multiplication or division, the parents are supposed to teach them that and students so when school starts the students know them already.
